  • This video shows you how to use our Yorkshire Button Looms (the new large looms as well as the original set) to create this fun pincushion. It's super easy, and a great way to practice your Yorkshire Button making techniques - as well as use up thread!
This video also serves as an example for warping up our larger looms - they have a different number of tabs, so require a different way of setting up to our original looms.
I'll show you a different way to weave the design, and how to make a long shape on the circular looms.
    materials used:
    Yorkshire Button Large Loom Pack
    Yorkshire Button Kit
a variety of wool including ordinary DK acrylic, tapestry wool and crewel wool
needle, stuffing & a little dish
I've also used one of the weave patterns that can be found in my
    Yorkshire Buttons Booklet

Outstanding! I'm going to glue them onto sandpaper and then insert in a saucer for a realistic base!

I'm getting all of the goodies I ordered from you a week ago in the mail today... now I NEED the larger Yorkshire templates 😮. You can make a tiny pink one to add to the top as a cactus flower. 🌵

Brilliant idea! You can make a cute smaller pincushion with the templates in the original kit x

Made my first bowl of cacti, very pleased with it. I didn't have any variegated yarn, so used a light colour for some colouring it in at intervals with ProMarker pens. I made three different sizes, putting one of them on top of another. I had a play about with various stitch techniques for my other cacti. 😁

@@GinaBSilkworks Hi Gina. I gave the Yorkshire cactus to my friend for her birthday, she was really pleased with it. I am making two more sets to send to friends in Canada and Australia. I won't be calling them Yorkshire Cactus though as customs would have a fit. I will settle for calling them a Yorkshire button ornament! You think I'm kidding? I sent some 1/12th scale polymer clay food to Australia once, being polymer clay they were ok to send. At least they should have been, customs had a lovely time checking them. Have to laugh. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Haha! This does not surprise me. I've learnt that being as general as possible is easiest - I'd probably just called it a sewing pincushion! At least they are vigilant. So glad your friend enjoyed the gift, I'm sure the others will too

Thank you for doing the video Gina. It’s really helped and I can clearly see where I was going wrong. The cactus pincushion is so cute 😊

thanks for the video and the adorable cactus garden pin cushion project! Exactly right the fabric pin cushions are not for yarn darning needles being either metal or plastic....great idea!
