Here are four different methods of writing an arp:
Method 1: two layers, same direction
Make a midi pattern following a shape and recreate it on a lower harmony.
Method 2: bass note
Center the arp around a bass pattern, keep returning to the root note of the chord.
Method 3: wide octaves, dot 8th
Follow a dotted 8th pattern with your root notes and reach into higher octaves for the other notes.
Method 4: classic chord outline
Pick a chord and outline it, changing it up a little every time so it's not repetitive.

thank you! I appreciate that
This is the most useful guide I've ever seen. Thanks a lot
i’m glad it is helpful!
at 2:39 he accidentally played the harry potter theme XD
This is awesome teaching I love the fact that u giving hints to why you adding the nx note not everyone tells that side of story they just mix up notes leaving us in suspense. We don't know music indepth some us know basics but you doing a good job .
I’m glad it was helpful!
I just started working in FLstudio and your videos help me soooo much! As an avid hyperpop enjoyer, I would love your take on how to make a food house/Gupi/Fraxiom type beat! their 2020 album food house is such a vibe and id love an educated take on what makes their sound so unique! cheers :)
Damn broh you good at tutorials. You taught like I knew nothing at all, abstractly. especially when you mentioned the shapes part when creating the melody. Mind blown! Thank you!
Literally what ive been struggling with the most ur amazing
a rlly simple but good way is also making major/minor chords and shifting the middle note up an octave and arpeggiating that with different patterns with the arpeggiator tool in FL
this is an extremely helpful guide, actually explain and show how to do it. really appreciate it!!
Glad you liked it!
This video is gold
such a gem of a video
this video showed up on my browse section, glad i found it man! keep up the high quality videos 🔥

This is exactly what I needed
Hell yes! An amazing tutorial once again

SOUND DESIGN PLSSSSS !!! I am dying to learn the 4 synths used in the video
Thanks! They are from my "Cute and Stuff" sample pack/preset pack.
thank you varsity, very cool 😎
😎
better wording for the title would be: how to make hyperpop arps melodies, cuz the presets are amazing but you ain't showing us the sound designing of them, just saying check my pack out which i guess we have to pay for 😭 still, good vid tho
goated
thanks for breaking this down!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for this video, it's quite helpful!
Glad it was helpful!

2:39 is that Harry Potter?
haha that's a good catch
amazing video bro creative idea and learned something
That's good to hear!
ty bro
How is he doing it so easily. I dont have muc idea about synthesizers or DAWs, much he makes it look easy
ur a real teacher, bro
hey thanks!
why does this sound like harry potter: 2:39
I thought of that too lol
If 2:39 was intentional, that's genuinely impressive...
the hidden theme 🤔
Awesome video bro
Glad you liked it!
great video! will you ever teach making those synths? those are some great sounds!
maybe! a few people have asked about sound design
Great tutorial!!
I don't think I used stardew music in this one, it was mostly Yoshi's Island music for some reason lol
Flower Garden - Yoshi's Island OST
Yarn Yoshi Takes Shape Overworld - Yoshi's Woolly World OST
Athletic Theme - Yoshi's Island OST
Map (Part 1) - Yoshi's Island OST
Overworld - Yoshi's Island OST
Powerful Infant - Yoshi's Island OST
@Varsity Beats oh whoops, sorry, I mistook Flower Garden for a stardew song 🤦
Yoo method 3 came out sounding like some classic OwlCity type stuff 👌
ur underrated af
2:39 "You're a wizard Harry"
op vid
thank you :)
sheeeshh
Love how the video length is literally 808.
6:49 this one is awsome
3:30 where can I find this sound ?
What Synth's did you use in the vid?
how do you scroll through the notes pressing up/down ? Do you hold anything else down. Up/down moves the notes up/down
hmm you might have to click off of the notes, like click some empty space so the note isn't selected anymore
For the 3rd method what sound cat or sample did you Use
I used a sound from my preset pack Cute and Stuff called "LD Clubba"
Chad
can i have the one shot for the second melody pls ty
his pack with this one shot is on his site
❤️
It's called "PL Ice Age" from the Cute and Stuff one-shot pack 😎
@@VarsityBeats ty!
great video! isnt the bonus arp blxty - texas ? ahah
edit: NO it must be aldrch - gluttony no ?? hahahah
you're right on your 2nd guess :)
Quick question: when writing these arps, we don't seem to be following a specific chord - should I just put chords that follow the root note?
you can follow the root note but you don’t have to stick with just the notes in the chords. It’s just a different technique to focus on using notes in the key vs notes in just the chord
@@VarsityBeats super helpful, thank you! I just built major and minor chords from the root notes and it sounded so right! :)
0:10 resembles a song sewerslvt - goodbye
2:39 Harry Potter! Someone else tell me you heard it!!!
bruh that 5th method really got me to produce 4 lil pump. thx 4 gucci vid. amazing education.
👨🏫🤓
Goeie video man maar je moet wel wat aan je uiterlijk doen
WHY WOULDNT YOU TELL US HOW TO MAKE THE SOUNDS
