This drama is one of the most beautiful drama that i've seen because i think this drama show you the issues that happen surround us whetever the role of husband, wife, family relations, job and even the impact of criminal"s family after the accident. The story gives you many different perspective like what you said and how you must hold on to hope from any kind of problem if you search for it solution

I completely agree with you about light hearted dramas. I like my dramas to be an escape from reality, with perfect hero guys who always save the day and beauty everywhere

it is funny that this review came up when i started binge watching this series for the last two days. it is a very heavy drama but 1st episode pull you in and there's no way out after that. i really like when a drama challenge our way of thinking on highly sensitive topic, especially in Asia where mental health issue is always a taboo. the society that has been hiding behind the keyboard is scary nowadays, its like parasites that could destroy you silently. this drama can happen in Taiwan simply because its value in freedom of content, which i hope China can achieve it one day.

For me, this drama will be the best drama for the long times. Hands down to the script writer, the director, the actors, the actresses. I never liked Alyssa's acting before but in this drama, she blown me away. And I love the role Wang She acted by Wu Kang-jen. I remember the scene between him and his wife, such a strong and great character. This drama is a kind of "once in a lifetime " drama for every actors and actresses.

Since you like Wu Kang Ren, then I recommend 一把青-- also heavy topic, but the script has gotta be a literary masterpiece. Acting is tight, directing respectful towards script/story given tight budget.

@@AvenueX123 seriously top 3 in my drama hall of fame has been taken by TW drama: 一把青, 想見你, 我們與惡的距離 though given recent events it IS wiser to hold off on watching 一把青... 後勁 took me 6mths to recover from lolll

Avenuex, I'm always looking forward to your videos- because you surprise all the time. The number of good dramas I have seen because you talked about them are many. I love your review, the way you explain. Thank you for uploading honest, insightful videos.

I love this drama, I finish watching it and still thinking about those problems. And yes I love the acting of the actor who plays the lawyer. It is really the best drama in 2019.

All is Well (2019), 都挺好 , must be an exception on that "the expensive box" analogy . It had a couple superfluos story lines but the heavy serious themes were there.
I live in a city that had terrorist attacks 20 years ago when I was a child, a friends house was bombed twice. I've seen countles series about that.
But phisical and psichological abuse from females and siblings is rarely touched. It is more common and the damage is everlasting. They showed the beginning and the consecuences of the abuse and how the FAMILY tries to cover it, then and now. I've yet to see a story like this in any show in any country.

Thank you for the recommendation and for the review as always! I'd probably have to wait a little to be in the right mindset/mood to watch it but it looks like an important and quality-made drama so I'm looking forward to it.

I just wanted to say it's such a pity that Chinese censorship always has to have "positive morals" and doesn't allow any controversial or dark topics to be made. This reminded me of another TW drama I really like called The Fierce Wife (male lead there is the husband of the main character in this drama); it is a painfully realistic portrayal of cheating/marriage breakdown, and it kind of felt like watching a train wreck in slow motion, but it is one of the dramas that has left a most lasting impression on me. Wish more dramas like that could come out of China as well.
P.S. I was super interested in checking out this drama because of the crazy high rating on douban (9.5), and your review just convinced me more (I literally went from having zero interest to binge-watching and "入坑“ with The Untamed solely because of your review...) So keep them up, we appreciate your efforts!

Ah, the fierce wife. I watched it years ago and I can still remember it. I hated the husband honestly. There's so many scenes I can remember from this and it pains me so bad

I disagree , cuz there are many Chinese dramas that deals with cheating and morals...Maybe you just haven't look enough

its actually easier to watch blood and gore stuff like "Saw" than this drama. blood and gore stuff I can distance myself(too over the top) but this drama is too close to city life area I am in.

Can I watch your Chang’an review if I’m 34 episodes in? Or should I absolutely wait until I’ve finished it to be sure to not be spoiled?

Im so happy yay finally. Also there’s a good drama out called “Waiting for you in the future” it has an 8.1 rating on Douban at the moment it’s almost done 34/36 episodes are out on MapleStage. This drama “The World Between Us” deserves all the praise it’s a brilliant piece of work

Your analogy of the expensive box totally nailed how I feel about Chinese Dramas these days. Even if they are good, the sheer length of the drama has turned me off, and I tend to stop watching while it is airing. Then, I go back and finish the rest of the drama after a month or two. I just know the ending will not be satisfying, and the watered down plot is just too painful to continue all at once.
