It looks like the seller forgot to cure the product before she shipped it out. That’s a quality control problem, not user error. If she apologized, replaced the item, gave her a quick refund, and/or gave the customer a credit for future purchases, she would have a lifelong customer instead of a bunch of hate.

The "small seller" said she has the product dry out for 4 days... Professional furniture painters have been known to let the Final coat of paint/clear coat, cure/dry out for 1-2 WEEKS. That way, the paint/clear coat doesn't chip off.
That product she is using looks to be 1-2 inches thick. Most products have in the directions, the "dry time". But that is usually based on much thinner applications.
Bare minimum, air drying, this should be 2 weeks dry. Sometimes you can have a tool to dry it quicker, like an oven/kiln/"blow dryer". But this looks delicate... So I would suggest "air dry"

I’m so sick and tired of these ‘small business’ that have not fully worked out their process and selling mediocre if not dangerous products without regard or regulation and then blaming the consumer who has paid for a product that is misleading for wanting their hard earned money back. Your personal circumstances don’t come into your business, a consumer is only interested in the product they pay for. If your process was handled well in the first place and accounted for there would have never been a public issue. If she is not interested in having a return or consumer policy and ready to take on fault and feedback and improve their product and process, she shouldn’t have a business - she’s clearly not ready or prepared for what it entails.

English major here. While “whenever” is known for its usage in situations where the date and time is unknown, it can also be used for situations that are repetitive. “When” can be used as a substitute for “whenever,” which is where most people become frustrated. The person is using “whenever” in a situation where she is doing something repetitive and relaying the same information repetitively, so the use of “whenever” is correct. However, because she is in a situation where her actions are unique and distinct, “when” can be used as a substitute. Both are correct. The use of the words depends on the emphasis. Do you want to emphasise the repetition of the effect (whenever) or do you want to emphasise the cause and effect (when)?
Edit: There are times, however, where she does use “whenever” incorrectly.

@@wellactually. Yeah, it was a bit frustrating to hear. I’m not surprised though, especially since a lot of comments are agreeing with Angelika’s rants.
I don’t understand the frustration about it since different dialects will at times change the rules of grammar, as some people in the comments have pointed out how some dialects will interchange the use of “when” and “whenever.” I’m not a grammar purist nor do I share information without double checking its validity, so seeing people who are like that rubs me off the wrong way.
Edit: I don’t usually like pushing my own standards onto others, but when it comes towards grammar purists, they tend to be people who don’t understand that with dialects there will be accents, and they tend to be malicious towards those who don’t meet their own standards. For example, look at the racial discrimination that happens towards black people for their accents and dialect (which is called “linguicism”). This statement about grammar purism is not directed towards neurodivergent people, but it is directed towards those that use grammar purity as a weapon.
Also, I shouldn’t have stated that different dialects will change grammar rules. I should instead say that they will create new rules.

    Crafting/painter perspective
There are several products that need weeks to properly cure/dry out. For example, furniture, objects you sit on or place food on, etc usually, for best results, let the final coat of paint or clear coat dry out for 1-2 WEEKS. This prevents chipping or smudging.
    * If you are sensitive to the chemical smell/vapors, usually the vapors will be gone/minimal after two weeks.
    - so imagine the vapors/chemicals trapped in the packaging.
***Silicon can dry out in under a week, but thats in THIN applications. This decorative application looks to be 1 -2 inches thick! This NEEDS more than 4 days.

Pretty disgusted by the grammar snobbery and ignorance in this video and the comments. I get very frustrated by bad grammar a lot too but some things are just dialectal. Northern Irish people say 'whenever' for 'when' all the time; it's fundamental to how they speak. It's related to influence from the Irish language on how they began speaking English (and lets not forget that the English language was forced on the Irish). Presumably, some regions in the US were influenced by Irish and Scots Gaelic-influenced English.

These small businesses will not issue refunds because these owners have no concept of 'business'. They spend the money almost immediately, which means that it's coming from their pockets when/if something goes wrong, which immediately results in the victim mentality of "you're taking food out of my mouth." Wrong. Businesses, especially small businesses that are still barely businesses, need to always consider how they will properly deal with returns before they sell their very first item. I run a small business, and while I have never had an issue of an item showing up ruined or broken, I still have my fair share of returns, complaints, and issues. I refund or replace. That is the cost of maintaining a working small business.
Every time I see a business owner like this, I always think of the Pink Sauce Lady. lol.

For example, one time I ordered nail polish from ulta and they were just tossed in a zip lock and put in the box as is. I got lucky they didn't break. You can't blame everything on the one doing the delivering. It's wonderful to support small business and even better when it's a small business run by someone disabled, but it does not mean you're 100% perfect all the time. The seller messed up and just wouldn't take ownership and that's what made things worse, not the customer leaving a low review. And also wonderful point something that's meant to be touched numerous times a day should absolutely be sturdy.

Angelica I feel so validated by you rn. I've always been driven crazy how people say "whenever" when I feel like they should actually be saying "when" to the point where I started gaslighting myself like maybe I'm just wrong cause so many people seem to say it this way 😂

I have my own crystal/oddity business. I ship fragile & delicate items all the time (including taxidermy, bugs, butterflies, fragrance oils in glass jars, etc.) I’ve had some things break when I first started out but I immediately refunded & took care of people when it happened & most of them still shop with me today! Mistakes happen, and it costs you money sometimes. But what’s right is right. I’ve learned from my mistakes & they’ve made me a better business in the long run. It’s a shame she handled it the way she did.
    *editing to add*
Usps likely would not approve this claim anyway, pretty much if the box isn’t demolished & if the item wasn’t properly wrapped by the seller, they don’t pay for it. That’s why they ask you to bring all the shipping materials/the contents of the package so they can see if it was packaged properly.

The defence squad on this one was wild "YOU pressed to hard and broke it" you are supposed to be able to press it up to a wall and screw it in and then also slap it to turn a light on and off.
That was a purely uncured product like be so for real.

If they were working with decoden cream maybe you could argue that was the reason it didn’t set properly since it’s a mixture of liquid resin. It also looks like they just put whatever they used onto a plain cover that already has protective coating. It’s going to slide off without something like glue to set it.

TBH if you can't handle one poor product review and refund request you aren't cut out for business, small or otherwise. She ruined her own reputation by sending an item in that condition and not making it right with a replacement or refund. I'm so tired of these cry baby small business owners who complain about the job they chose.

correct me if i'm wrong, but her pushing to file a claim with USPS seems so shady.. it feels like she's trying to get USPS to give her the money back instead so she can keep it. with how comfortable she is with the suggestion, i wonder how much money she's essentially stolen from the USPS

    • @aphreyst4551

It depends on if the claims even went through. It can be hard to get an insurance claim from USPS, so people probably just gave up.

Haven’t finished the video, but a lot of times products like this are made out of silicone and come like…..kinda squishy? Like rubber texture. But if she didn’t sand the plastic properly the silicone wouldn’t stick to it, so that’s probably the issue for why it just literally popped off. I’ve had a million silicone decoden cases and only one has popped off after year of use, and they do stay rubbery

What the pipeing stuff is on the phone cases is like a stiff silicone mix thats why its good for phone cases because its resistant to stuff and bouncy. If it is uncured its verry dangerous and can cause chemical burns if not curred fully withought propper ppe. Even if they used the silicone pipeing and not air dry clay they probablly would have done the same thing.
