This is actually a very cleaver display of German machine gunner vs. American machine gunner as far as doctrine goes in combat. The MG3, Germany’s general purpose machine gun (basically a modern version of the MG-42 from WW2) has a firing rate of around 1,100 RPM (rounds per minute). Which is insanely fast for a single barreled machine gun. So you want to fire in short controlled bursts in order to get the best shot placement and remain consistent on accuracy, as well as conserving ammunition. The M2 Browning of the US military, has a firing rate of about half of that, about 600 RPM. It’s also much heavier so it maintains recoil much easier. So as a result, you are actually encouraged to keep the fire coming in much longer intervals.
Actually that clip shows how well trained our modern, German soldiers are compared to those of the US: Short, precise bursts with a machine gun both limit ammo consumption as well as they increase accuracy. But hey, it's not us who have to catch up with the kill count in the first place, just saying. LOL

I remember being chewed out because i "only" destroyed 20 infantry, 4 lighly armored and 2 MBR targets at the shooting range with a 120bullet belt. reason for being chewed out? "waste of ammunition". I'll just leave leave the "waste" with 2 destroyed MBTs via 7.62 NATO here..
The idea of a precision engineered fully automatic sniper rifle being some kind of "machine" "gun" is actually a pretty funny joke when you think about it. Which is why the soldier stopped laughing normally and started laughing in German.
