- This is the first in a series of occasional sessions at the University of Chicago Divinity School to commemorate the centenary of Paul Ricoeur's birth. To attempt to capture something of his unique intellectual spirit, the sessions aim to think with Ricoeur toward an enhanced understanding of religion via the themes of ethics, philosophy, and culture.

A cornerstone of the argument here is the 'sadness' in the finite life. Existentialists would argue otherwise, as would Nietzsche- as in the Nietzschean notion of the 'eternal return'. Death is the best motivator for one to live a life worth living.
Why are there no video or audio recordings of Ricoeur lecturing or being interviewed in English? 😢
Paul Riceour was a class act.
The more I read the 20th century philosophers, the more I think that he was without equal.
