I just need a place to vent about my disheartening apartment search. It’s going on a year since my landlord told me she was selling the house. I’ve been trying to find an apartment for the longest time. I love the neighborhood I’m currently in and wish to stay here because I’m close to my parents. I grew up here and the rent is good… if you can find a place. I’m a music teacher and musician. My small, studio apartment can no longer accommodate me, my cat and my instruments. It’s like Tetris trying to move around here. I have a new landlord now and he and his family are great people. That said, I could use more space. The main reason I can’t find a place here is because they’re mostly NO PETS ALLOWED. I have a cat. She’s spayed and well groomed. I clean up after her all of the time. I’m clean. I’m a veteran teacher. I work hard and yes, I’m single with a cat. Sue me! I’m just so discouraged. No matter the places I go to see, I’m mainly turned away because I have a cat. It hurts. This cat has been a blessing to me, really and truly. I have health issues and she’s been great and responsive. I don’t know what I’d do if I had to give her up. One realtor suggested I’d temporarily give her away if I wanted to find a place in the area. He was kind enough to show me an apartment that was willing to take me and the cat, but I wouldn’t have been able to get my piano up to the attic apartment. I JUST purchased this piano and would hate to already put it in storage. This process has been so depressing. I’ve worked very hard to get where I am and to earn what I earn. My parents home is in disrepair and we could use a new space for family gatherings. They are elderly and no longer drive, and I don’t want to move further away from them either. I know something will come along soon, but after getting off the phone with yet another landlord who’s strictly no pets allowed, I just needed to vent. I wanna cry. I know this sounds silly but ugh it’s been hard. They get excited to hear you have a career and then they hear you have a cat and they turn you away.
@@100Remedios thank you for your encouragement, my friend! So, I’ve looked into that and will gladly do so. However, even when I brought that up to landlords, they said under no circumstances. I have a feeling that’s illegal, though lol. That said, they’re missing out on meeting one of the sweetest most beautiful cats. She’s such a great support to have!

All that renovation and no hand rails for the stairs? WHY? Brooklyn is a very old sad and tired place covered in grafitti. Guess who your neighbors are?
Who? (I'm an Aussie. I have no idea.) Also, why does NY not have rubbish collection? That seems primitive. So unhygienic.
I literally was in the neighborhood the other day. Definitely saw a handful of apt getting Reno as I was walking to my fiends studio
Very nice modern double-height loft with a background. I would definitely expand the second level to make it a bedroom. Otherwise, I would use a Murphy bed in the living area.
Ok. I'm watching this at night and just got the urge to bite my bagel because I always eat breakfast watching this stream!!!

6:50 the building across the street being excivated. There's a window below ground level.
Hanging out on that balcony will be a nightmare, just think on how loud it would be listening to all those air units whirling at the same time…
you might be able to block them off with plants or something...some potted trees make good sound blocking material...you be surprised..
I was thinking more about the construction site across the street. At least the a/c units are a steady, lulling sound. =D

Big old apartment. Kind of cool 😎
I use to have a Chevie S10. I.loved thatvyruck. Easy on gas
Nice low ceilings to change all of those light bulbs. Your own 'Top Golf' or 'Putt-Putt'. Amazing place.
It doesn't sound silly. Since you have health issues, do you think you could get an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) prescription?

@@100Remedios thank you for your encouragement, my friend! So, I’ve looked into that and will gladly do so. However, even when I brought that up to landlords, they said under no circumstances. I have a feeling that’s illegal, though lol. That said, they’re missing out on meeting one of the sweetest most beautiful cats. She’s such a great support to have!
@@bronxkies you are right--it is illegal. Wishing you better luck soon!
@@100Remedios thank you, friend! I appreciate your encouragement. I hope to find something soon, the Lord willing.
What would make this place perfect if the laundry and one bathroom was downstairs and perhaps building a wall for another bedroom.
Can’t do a bedroom down there. No windows for emergency escape. A window has to be big enough for a person to crawl through.
Vitamin water in SE Minnesota is $2.29. For reference 😳
