This recording is great as you can pick out every single perfect note from Andy Fraser’s bass. Magic!
If Rodgers was the heart of the band, and Koss was the excitement, Fraser was the SOUL of the unit, with that unique funky approach to Blues/Rock! Way ahead of his time.
The ONLY reason that Stealer did not quite match the success of All Right Now, was the lack of a soaring solo from Koss - but what a brilliant song !!! Happy days.

I keep wondering how Andy Fraser can be SO overlooked. I mean, Paul Rogers... my favorite singer of all time. Paul Kossoff... gone way too soon, and widely admired. But Andy Fraser? Good golly, he was driving this groove. Free fans from the beginning knew he was a great bass player, but every time I see a video of them from their prime, I am amazed by the way it revolves around Andy Fraser's solid groove. It's almost like he was playing lead and Koss was playing a kind of "harmonics" on top of it. Of course, Simon Kirke was of the same caliber as the rest of them, but in a band where Andy Fraser is kind of a mere footnote to many people, it is easy to be overlooked. It was kind of amusing though that nobody wanted to be interviewed, but the announcer referred to Andy as "the leader." That might indicate what his band mates thought of him... I dunno.

I resent this band for recording Alright Now. I got so sick of hearing it on the radio for the next twenty years.

NO. He's absolutely right. I love Free. One of my favorites of all time. But that song so clashes with the rest of their repertoire. At this point I hate to hear it. The only thing that saves it is Andy's bass part.@@julianp4787
