I have 3b/3c hair and relaxed it for so many years simply because i didn't know how to handle the curls and i was never taught to be proud of them. My mum has straight Indian hair and didn't really know how to handle my curls so i got my hair relaxed for the first time at age 12 and never stopped. For the first time in over 30 years i have now stopped relaxing my hair because I'm pregnant (at 44!) and i can see those curls popping through. Videos like this make me feel so much better about my natural hair. Meanwhile for about 15 of those 30 years of relaxing my hair, I have suffered from endometriosis, adenomyosis and just general discomfort around my period. I don't know if it's linked but i think it probably is. I honestly think i won't go back to relaxers after my baby is born and if my baby has curly hair, she will be raised to be proud of her curls.

The nicest thing about our hair is it's texture - I so enjoy the feel of my hair between my fingertips - The softness is real . I think you are a step away from twisting your hair into little bantu knots/ two strand twists or chinny bumps -as they are called in Jamaica twists before you go to bed - you wont need the combs again - just grab little bunches and twist, wrap your hair in a silky headscarf or bonnet - when you unravel in the morning the little curls are beautiful. May I recommend after you wash your hair and it is still damp is when you put in the product you use, rather than on completely dry hair you'll notice a difference. So pleased you are fulljoying your hair Sis it's looking good on you.

I have those same face rollers and love them. It took me a few months to figure out how to style my natural hair. I use organic castor oil on my eye brows, eye lashes and edges. I'm 60 years old and my eye lashes are so long that they hit my glasses. Castor oil is a miracle hair growth serum for me. I get so many comments about my eye lashes.

Fumi,your journey reminds me of mine in 2010. My hair got so thick, I decided to loc it. As your hair grows you need to adjust your routine. Now i use natural castor oil after a bit of almond oil with francinsence essential oil drops. Things change and your hair will tell u what it needs. Keep going strong.

Beautiful, Fumi. Please use a microfiber towel or old T-shirt. Don't use a typical bath towel. It snags your hair and it's drying. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase helps as well. Good luck!

I love it!!!! I have been wearing my natural hair since 5/23, I'm 75 yrs. young. After wearing braid in weaves for over 25 yrs., I decided to stop wearing weaves and perming my hair. Love the hair. I too went natural and after only a year went back to relaxers because I find it easier to style. However, I am now regretting it as my relaxed hair just breaks all the time. Wish I'd stuck to natural hair.

I wear my hair natural like this, but I prematurely grayed and my hair comes out with every comb with every brush with every pick so much hair comes out that I have just been so discouraged. I am natural from fro, two strain twist to now sister locks, but friends have perm, weave, wig, braids you name it. I have high-end glam to casual dress friends. You are beautiful with your natural hair and 4C hair is the best!❤

Love the hair. I too went natural and after only a year went back to relaxers because I find it easier to style. However, I am now regretting it as my relaxed hair just breaks all the time. Wish I'd stuck to natural hair.

Your hair is doing so well. Just one suggestion please be more gentle with your hair, treat it like the finest most fragile silk so that it doesn't get damaged. If you do that, you will retain more length.

I wear my hair natural like this, but I prematurely grayed and my hair comes out with every comb with every brush with every pick so much hair comes out that I have just been so discouraged. I wish I could take a trip to visit her hair studio, but that might not come for a while, so I am though going to look through her socials pick up her products and begin the process.
