I hope my 505 is waiting for me like he said. We were both damaged and too young for the lives we lived. I wasn't allowed to see him, just do the runs, make the big guys money in ways nobody ever should have to "work". He wasn't allowed to see me either. But this was our album, one of the many we loved anyway. We ran away, away from the violence, the fear, the prisons we lived in. But it didn't last, we got taken back, I managed to take the blame because i would get hurt either way, but i wanted him to be spared. I haven't been able to see him since. The first time i said "I love you" to him, was because of this song, indirectly. The laughter, love, music, dreams, intimacy and ambitions we shared back then keep me going now, keep my spite for abusers alive, fuel the fire of my heart every day. When I feel I'm a million miles away from him, and so close to giving up, this song is high on the list to connect me to what really matters. I just hope he truly understood how I felt, I wasn't always good at sharing my emotions clearly. I wasn't always fully lucid, with the lifestyle I was forced to lead.
But he has no reason to feel on the back foot, to feel self conscious. He is still my 505 as much as I was his then. I hope to see him again soon, I have to believe in him and myself, and I know hes safe.

@@Moonlight303ltd having an emotional connection to a song doesn't make it fundamentaly better then the rest. And yes there is obvi personal preference but i was implying that there r so many to have just one, which would be my personal preference. No need to be insultive

This is the best album ender I've ever heard. Ever. It's the forlorn opening setting, the soft singing that almost feels conversational, the drums that gradually ease their way in, and then -- there's this sort of California surf rock riff that comes on melody guitar at 1:34, that passes the listener just a glimmer of hope if its presence distracts you from its own distortion. You know it's going away for the melancholy music break. Then Alex shifts keys as he offers "But I crumble completely when you cry", and every instrument takes on new meanings. The heartbeat of the bass becomes pounding anxiety; the dropoff in Alex' voice at "with a smile"; the surf rock riff that suddenly carries a completely different energy; the windswept buildup, and finally - quiet, as the guitar plucks through a final set of notes to end it off. If you ever needed pain to feel beautiful, these 4 minutes and 13 seconds offer it in an emotional volley.
