Japanese wagyu is very rich while hanwoo is closer to a more tender US prime. In terms of a life changing experience, wagyu. In terms of something you can eat regularly, hanwoo.
Jimmy, that Korea -> Japan jump cut was amazing! I've only had teppanyaki wagyu once in Japan, and you are absolutely correct; less is more. Thanks for taking Rie out for a nice meal!
I love how Rie taste the food first before give her opinion. And the way she give her opinion is like a pro food reviewer, unlike typical Asian girl food blogger
Excellent presentation: clear, concise, honest appraisal, and the manner in which you presented each bite added to the experience for us on this end. Well done!
Wagyu beef, Japanese rice, fruits, etc. are popular around the world because they are properly managed luxury brands. I've never heard of "Hanwoo," and like Chinese beef, there are concerns about sanitation. 😅
I’m here in Japan as a student and I definitely gotta go try more food. Gotta experience this type of eating Atleast once 💀. Thanks for the vid Unc, excited for the next episode
I love both. Wagyu is a delicacy. it has so much fat content that it melts in your mouth but you can't eat too much. I once had 10 oz of wagyu sashimi and I felt gross inside like I ate a stick of butter. I prefer Hanu personally. It still melts in your mouth but it is more meaty and has more of the beef taste. I could eat Hanu every day.
If you want something like Hanwoo, I think Wagyu A3-5 is the same. If you think Wagyu is too fatty, just order a lower grade such as Wagyu A3-5. This is ranked by the amount of fat, not by the taste. Korea is better at pork, beef is better in other countries and there are more choices. Why is that? Pork is often prepared as it is in traditional Korean cuisine, which is why it has such a long history. Beef, on the other hand, is often marinated in seasonings. The reason is that today's hanwoo was not originally made with this kind of meat, but was born out of rivalry with Wagyu beef, which was highly regarded. I used to prefer the more reddish beef with a unique texture, but I don't even see it anymore.
I would always start with wagyu then when it starts to get too oily in the mouth switch to hanwoo. If you're eating like 100 grams go for wagyu, over 100 grams go for hanwoo. Like alocohol if im drinking expensive i would take little, but for beer and soju I can handle alot
The best beef that I had in my life was just a random corner in Busan where an old couple cooked hanwoo for us over charcoal.. I had omi beef in a nice resturant in Kyoto too, which was good but it felt too much after like 100g
Tried both. If you try Hanwoo for the first time its amazing. If you try Kobe for first time, you cannot believe it’s beef The reaction is perfect. Hanwoo..soo good. Wagyu..omg I tell you this. They both cost very similar for top end. If u have to pick one to try, i would recommend A5 wagyu. Hanwoo, it will be like ya its great but its in the realm of beef. A5 wagyu its like you are trying different animal for first time
Just a polite suggestion.I think Rie is a very beautiful lady and if you can help her start her own RUclips channel I am sure she would do very well if she wants to.❤
Jimmy is spot on. I tried both and Japanese Wagyu is very rich and is not meant to be eaten as a big slab of meat. Hanwoo is amazing eaten as a large slab of steak. Personally I prefer a nice 10oz NY strip 🙂
Once in a life time experience for Wagyu, then everything else, hanwoo if I can afford to eat it that much, I like my meat to have some bit of chew unlike Wagyu where it feels like you're eating butter lol.
Both looked wonderful. You got more at the Korean place but it cost more. The Japanese place looked slightly better and cost less but didn't get as much. I could not choose between either and would not want to.
Jimmy kim..talking bout making it rain rice...on a Korean girl😂 Jimmy I'm an American girl and would love that lol ..all jokes aside I love your videos ❤
Jimmy showing off his rizz like it's nothing special. Hes got ladies in every town! This dude has to be the biggest flexor (pun intended 💪) on RUclips. Quality content as always Jimmy!
@@jimmykimtv Ok I actually watched now and TIME OUT, you got bullied in Korea too for having kimchi in your lunch?! I thought that only happened to us gyopo. And please never stop saying onion haseyo it's my fave.
@@jimmykimtv it is essentially unavailable outside of Korea (more than 99% is consumed domestically) so it's a bit of a challenge to get the word out about hanwoo
When I was in Korea 2014 - 2017, unfortunately I couldn't find any halal hanwoo, so... yeah cannot comment... We usually bought Hanwoo for our Professor on Teacher's Day though...
Now you need to try Australian wagyu. It's not quite as marbled and fatty as Japanese wagyu, but I think the cuts I've tried look more marbled than the Hanwoo.
Hanwoo > Wagyu okie goobai 🤭

Not all wagyu is the same! The rating scale and breed is very important!
Very diplomatic. Good comment.

Not a lot of areas to raise cattle because of korea’s mountainous terrain. That’s why hanwoo is expensive.

It's kinda sad that in NZ, your Hanwoo ramyeon and black noodle prices are _cheaper_ than what we pay for standard Korean meals.
