In the original release yes there were 6 heroes, but they were basically the same between the initial 3 factions. Now every hero is totally unique, and there are 6 races. The gameplay is a lot more diverse as a result.
I very much enjoyed the campaigns, as I got this game for having character/party building on top of RTS. Using 4 'diablo-like' heroes in and against armies is just 👌🙌. Journey mode was great too, I made some gnarly characters for that, just wish there were more RTS missions for it. In skirmish, I can beat basically any very hard AI except dwarves. Have you tried that? Their mass early push is extra insane, like 200 pop army at 7 min or something. But a lot of winning against the boosted AI is picking something like Reaper or Druid and dropping 100-200k aoe damage... My main concerns going into pvp are that such a hero would get bullied by melee or archer combat, and worker harass. I want my dopamine from creating a gaping hole in your army with kiss of nor, leave my guy alone! Getting set behind by harass, dealing with it micro wise, using your hero to respond which slows down expansion and leveling etc, is the kind of thing that tires me in RTS pvp. Burnt me out on sc/sc2. It's why my most played pvp is in other genres, eg LoL or Halo, that's just personal preference.
It's perfectly fine to not be into multiplayer after having tried. It's very obviously not for everyone! And yes, I played against the Dawrf AI. Didn't notice anything special. What map, and what faction matchup are we talking about?
This is awesome. I started to play this game not long ago, and haven't tried to play pvp yet. I built a guide for the campaign though (in spanish bc I'm too lazy to write a guide in english) so with this I can complete the experience :)

RTS games in general are not about your APM(actions per minute). They are about the ability to multitask and what decisions you make.
Unfortunately, the most difficult step is to find other new players to play with :(

How does getting expirence from neutral creeps works? Is it last hit based or something else?
Its based on damage dealt, if you deal 99% but another player deals 1%, you get 99% of the XP.
