- Hello my Nakama!
In this video I share with you three reasons why I enjoyed my time as an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University and also take you on a tour of campus. This was definitely a fun video to make so let me know if you'd like to know more about what Johns Hopkins is like. Dattebayo!
That thumbnail is amazing

All you need to know about Johns Hopkins University: ruclips.net/video/VGz8o-8nbWY/видео.html
Very low student to professor ratio. You get to spend a lot of time talking to professors if you have the desire.
I will be attending Hopkins as a ‘23 member! I’m so excited about Hopkins as a mechanical engineer :)
Jack Anderson That’s awesome to hear bro congrats! Also love the Midoriya All Might profile pic 😂😤👊
Daniel Kaganov omg you actually watch my hero academia?!
Jack Anderson haha of course. My Hero is 🔥
Wow! John Hopkins seems so cool
Lol Ash
Thanks a lot... This was informative.

Hi! I'm thinking of applying this coming year. I was wondering about the social scene at Hopkins. I have heard that they have no parties and everyone always studies. Is this true or are people able to go out and have fun? Great video btw!
Thank you! So it’s really what you make of it lol. There’s a social scene for those looking for it but overall it is an academic institution and students work hard for the most part.
Since you're a girl, you can get into to just about any frat. Frats are pretty shitty though, there are only 3 decent ones for fun parties. There are only about 5 weekends per semester that have really good parties, the other weekends are mostly dead. The trend is that freshman typically do a lot of frat partying, and as you get older, less people go to on-campus parties and just have hangouts with friends or go to the city because the party scene can get old quickly. Most people find the time to go out on weekends and go to PowerPlant on Thursday's which is also fun. There's definitely a "grind" mentality on campus, even people who are IS or Econ spend a lot of time studying. If you're pre-med, stem, or in Whiting, get prepared for one hell of a ride.
Me I want enroll Johns Hopkins in the internet How? please

Thank you for making this! I’m a current HS senior (class of 21) and am looking to apply early decision!
That’s awesome! I wish you the best I’m sure you’ll make it 😁
oh my gosh me too! Good luck!
Same! Just submitted my application yesterday, good luck!
Cool video, Daniel! I'm looking to apply to JHU this fall but I was worried that the coursework for STEM majors makes it overwhelming and difficult to enjoy doing other activites. In what ways might JHU seem like an all-work-no-play kinda place, and how do you think otherwise? Also, were there any cool parties? :)
Julius Reed just like with anything in life you can always find time for work and play haha just depends on your balance and time management. And yes haha there was occasionally “cool” parties.
Thanks for the video I actually love to see students tell their experiences in college because I don’t know were to go but based off mu research Hopkins is my first choice. I’m currently in 10th grade well i finish it tomorrow but anyway i’m really interested in this school but I am from the caribbean, Puerto Rico actually so I have never lived in the USA and I haven’t experienced cold weather like the coldest it has been here is like 70 degrees but anyway I wanted to know, is Baltimore a good place to live, like overall because i’ve read that Baltimore isn’t a safe place and specially the area Hopkins is at and that made me rethink my decision. Also did you like your experience in the school like did you make friends, or was everyone very competitive and didn’t want to be friends?
I was accepted to JHU for this fall semester! Have you taken an online class through the university before?
Hi congratulations! I’ve taken online classes in med school but not through Hopkins
Daniel Kaganov I see! I was accepted for a Masters program so I was just curious thank you!
My daughter is in JHU computer science
That’s awesome! I’m sure she will be successful :)
im watching this as an 8th grader and even with 4 years to decide I think this'll be my dream college
Woohoo! Check back in 4 years from
Now 😁
I submitted my Early Decision so I'm manifesting my acceptance lol
Your edits are amazing!!
Thank you!
Can you talk more about your experience with chemistry and why you chose chemistry instead of chemical engineering
Hi Ea Ten! Sure so I fell in love with chemistry in high school and although chemical engineering and chemistry are very interwoven, chemistry usually has to do with the more theoretical and conceptual like thinking while chemical engineering kind of takes established practices and makes them more efficient or large scale in terms of industry. I knew I either wanted to do a PhD or go into medicine and I didn’t feel it was necessary to have a chemical engineering degree to do either of those as I enjoyed pure chemistry more.
Great video.
How is the environment for international students?
could you maybe share more about your admissions experience (like specifically around the time you were first applying/maybe share about your test scores and applying process?) just a thought :) really interested in hopkins but stressed about getting in haha
Hi Meghan! I can do that for sure in an upcoming video. I'll have to do some digging on my exact scores since I applied about four years ago haha.
Great video and great reasons... now for the application and hoping I get in :) What was your favorite part of Baltimore as a student?
The Food! Food scene there was amazing. Any culture / country Baltimore has it :)
Daniel Kaganov Thanks man!! Just making me more excited to go there if I can!!
Hi! I was accepted for the class of 2026. I’m so scared to attend because I know everyone there is so smart and I’m so scared about failure. I want to become a neurologist in the future, but I’m so scared about attending Hopkins.
Don’t be scared! We all start off somewhere just take advantage of all amazing opportunities that come your way 😁
@@DanielKaganov Your school tortures animals!
Idk if you going to read this, but anyways. I'm at University of São Paulo - Brazil, currently at the "medical course". It's rated high in the QS Ranking, but not as high as JHU. I was wondering, how hard would it be, for me, as a brazilian, to get into JHU undergraduation program, or other American University. I mean, I am 18 at the time I'm writing this, and I'm also concerned about the age, is there a "limit". I'm really new to it, but I'd love if you (or anyone else that knows) could give me some more details about it.
Also, that cam cut at 0:30 was really cool haha
Hi Daniel! I just watched your video and I loved it! I am currently trying to decide where to go to college and I got into Hopkins for BME; I currently intend on pursuing a PhD and potentially also an MD and I was wondering if for med school you would want to return to Hopkins or if you would want to go somewhere else so you can build other networks. Also, I am from the West Coast and have never seen snow let alone experience harsh winters so could you give me insight into what the weather was like at Hopkins? Thank you !!!
Laura Torre hi Laura glad you enjoyed the video! I’m currently in medical school here in North Carolina. Also it’s pretty much hot summers and cold winters in Bmore with occasional snow but if you’ve never seen snow it’ll be fun! People build snowmen and make the most of the cold weather. Also huge congrats on getting in that is an amazing accomplishment to get into their BME program. I’m sure you’ll go far in your endeavors 😁
I was thinking to apply to this college next year. What is the application process like and requirements to getting in, for medical.
Can you give advice on how to get into John Hopkins?
Do you plan to go back to Hopkins for med? I'm looking at their bioethics programme.
Hi! What do think about the chemistry-biology interface program for a phD? I got My Master degree in natural products chemistry and basically all my interests are into it
Hi Rubi! So I only completed my undergrad in chemistry at Hopkins and am not familiar with that joint pHD program, however it sounds amazing and considering Hopkins strong research departments I would for sure apply / consider it!
Should you? No. The question is CAN YOU?
Hi Daniel, I just got accepted into the Robotics MSE program at Johns Hopkins University. I am concerned about the living conditions of JHU, such as the renting rate, living expense, especially the safety conditions. Since I heard that somewhere of Baltimore is not that safe. I appreciate a lot if you can share any information with me!
Hi Xiaowei that is fantastic I’m happy you got in! So first if you live with a roommate and find a decent location rent can be as little as $600-700 a month to as high as $1300 if you are in a single by yourself. As for safety conditions with the “Hopkins Bubble” it is very safe since there is campus security within a 2 mile radius around the entire school and the area is nice anyways. Of course there are parts of Baltimore that are of less socioeconomic status and unfortunately there is more crime in that area however it is somewhat removed from where the Hopkins campus is located. Just have a head on your shoulders at night or when in the city and you’ll be fine haha.
@@DanielKaganov Thank you so much for your information! It helps a lot! Do you have any place recommending to live based on the safety conditions?
Xiaowei Lin anywhere around campus is really fine just depends on how much your willing to pay really. But Uni-west, the broadview, 9E 33rd, The Blackstone are a few I can think of
@@DanielKaganov Thank you again for your information!!
Xiaowei Lin sure thing! I wish you the best on your journey at Hopkins 👊
Is it true that the environment at JHU is very cut-throad and competitive? I really want to go if I end up getting accepted, but if its super competitive and not collaborative I might end up going to UMich because its cheaper + I will probably get a higher GPA.
Hey Peter so I never experienced any of the cut-throat myths associated with Hopkins. My chemistry major department was pretty small and we were a supportive and tight knit group. Nowadays college is extremely expensive and UMich is an amazing school so if it makes more financial sense for you then you wouldn’t be sacrificing anything just saving a few hundred thousand dollars lol.
i'll just mention that depending on what you study, UMich can be pretty competitive also - this is coming from someone that studied chemistry there. so I would just attend which school you're more passionate about
I was thinking of applying to the JHU Grad school this year... are they strict about your awards and extracurricular activities ? Being Asian, I didn't have much time to participate in many ECs and international competitions because of academics... I wanted to know what exactly is the JHU grad school lookin for in an applicant
I want to be an imagineer (engineer for Disney) and play Lacrosse at a college level so I want to go to Hopkins
What GPA do you have to have to get into John Hopkins?
Don't think I can answer this question accurately but technically any GPA can get you in. 4.0 will increase your chances though.
@@DanielKaganov ok, thank you!
Hi my mane Aibek do you help me l want study in USA
Hi! I'm applying to both Johns Hopkins and U of Cambridge. What would you say about the graduate program placement of johns hopkins graduates? Are they competitive for med schools?
Can I go to John Hopkins if I want to study to be a Forensic Pathologist?

Thank you for this video! Quick question about research/opportunities in general: Did you ever feel like since there are so many graduate students at Johns Hopkins University, that opportunities were often more geared/marketed towards those, rather than undergraduate students? (Such as research, classes, opportunities, internships, etc) Thank you!
Hi Lacey! Thanks for watching. That is not the case at all! What happens usually is that of course the grad student is overseeing an entire research project because that is their PhD but an undergraduate student will most likely assist the graduate students with a component of their project which is exactly what I did in my chemistry research.
Hey Daniel, I applied to JHU as an ED 1 student which interest in computer science. My grades are decent, but I've some good ECs, like I created a website, I was part of a research activity conducted by ISRO, I even created a small game by coding. But since the ED deadline was in 30 mins, my supplement essay wasn't up to the mark and was decent according to me. What do you think the chances of me getting in are? Like does JHU look are essays and grades alone or can my ECs act as an equalizer? P.S. I'm an international student and the decision date for ED is in 3 days lol
update?
Hi, now I m a senior in High school. I'll apply to johns hopkins. I'd like to talk a little more about school, do you have time?

I just received acceptance for my masters for information security. I deciding between jhu or Carnegie Mellon University, which is for information security policy and management. I am really conflicted...
Bro have you decided?
@@shauryajain4851 I am going cmu. After a lot of research, the program that I got for cmu is the top 1 cybersecurity school which is from the top 1 cs college. I didn't think rankings were important at all, but there are records for *all* students' jobs from the past 10 years, which are reported 3 months after graduation from that program. All I can say is, there are reasons that cmu is always the top 1 cs college.
@@mikeyangyang8816 what’s your take on jhu?I have got admit there.
@@shauryajain4851 For cs, jhu doesn't have the strongest program, but jhu has very good facilities and professors. For other programs, of course, jhu has the best biotech education in the world.
JHU is a great school but more so in the medical world while CMU is probably better for something more computer related! Both are great options but that's what I'd recommend :)
Not bad, not bad at all. =)

@@DanielKaganov Thx - hope you're enjoying Wake Forest. I know some people who are at Wake Forest for business and BME and they loved it!
hi! i was planning to apply to jhu but my doctor who studied at jhu med told me that the location is so bad and not safe for students, especially for internationals. i was really sad to hear that because I would love to study bme at an institution like jhu but I kinda gave up on applying tbh. since you spent 4 years at hopkins and enjoyed your time there, what would you say about the location? is it safe, shall I apply?
JHU's medical campus is in a more dangerous area than it's undergrad campus. It's the best school for BME in the entire world so absolutely apply!
Is there a good psychiatry program if you know?
Hi! So there is a psychiatry major at Hopkins although I am not too familiar with it and I’m sure the Medical School definitely covers these topics.
Daniel Kaganov Thank you!!

Going to hopkins was the greatest mistake of my entire life.
why?
Can you tell me why???
@@YUURMOM12 I spent way too much time and money to be around miserable horrible people and come out of it unemployable.
Don't go to JHU unless you are premed or got rejected from Ivies. I also was premed. Baltimore is a dangerous and crappy city.
