I crunched the numbers, and I'm pretty sure white is a better fit. Using the HEX code provided in the video, along with the HEX code for pearl light gray according to Rebrickable (9CA3A8) and the HEX code for white (FFFFFF), I did some math. According to the Relative Luminance article on Wikipedia, RGB values can be linearized by raising each component to the power of 2.2. Once this is done, the formula Y = 0.2126 R + 0.7152 G + 0.0722 B can be used to calculate the relative luminance of each linearized RGB value. I completed this step for each of the values, and found the difference between Jango's color and white and pearl light gray Jango color: ((0.2126)*(218)^2.2)+((0.7152)*(219)^2.2)+((0.0722)*(226)^2.2) = 141350.510358 Pearl light gray: ((0.2126)*(156)^2.2)+((0.7152)*(163)^2.2)+((0.0722)*(168)^2.2) = 72513.9963291 Diff: 71032.72584 White: ((0.2126)*(255)^2.2)+((0.7152)*(255)^2.2)+((0.0722)*(255)^2.2) = 196964.699114 Diff: 55614.18876 As the difference between white and Jango's color is less than the difference between pearl light gray and Jango's color, it seems that white appears to be closer to the color of Jango than pearl light gray.
I'd say the original model is perfect since it represents the same thing. Just because the texture in game looks a bit off doesn't necessarily mean the original figure can't be used. Either way custom or not it will look good.
I have the official and up close it looks nothing like the game. I also built a custom white one with a light bluish gray torso as well as violet blue arms and I would say it is the most accurate you could get to the game.
@@owkword8124 I mean the real one looks like a 1:1 version of the game one, only with the silver being brighter making it look quite bright which is a lighting problem and the grey and brown being updated to dark bluish grey and reddish brown.
The problem is the game's lightning. If you play TCS on 360/ps3 or on PC with low graphics it looks white, but on PC if you have the graphics set to max, his helmet, IG88 etc look more like a metallic silver. The bloom just makes it really bright to give it a shiny effect.
@@imperial_brickz do you seriously not know that jango is boba's father, that was his whole deal with the kaminoans, he would be the host on one condition, he got an un-altered clone to be his son

I mod this game and I can confirm the texture stuff. Lighting in this game is awful at times so I could understand the reason people think his armor is white lol
One could say his helmet looks pearl white. I can’t tell for sure if that color exists in Lego, but it would’ve looked very nice had Lego gone in that route for an early edition of Jango.
We might need to check other minifigures with white parts and see what their hex codes are. I just have some sort of feeling that that the color for white pieces is not pure white.
Chrome helmet would probably be more consistant with the rest of the display. It's lighter than lego's sliver but not quite white. I've seen a couple of custom chrome Jangos out there. Idk if they're pad printed tho
A video of the channel "forceghostzman" appeared to me where he shows his entire TCS minifig collection. I believe some of his figures are laser printed or simply painted uppon but at minute 9:10 of the video he seems to have an accurate jango. I might be wrong though.
@@titanic_monarch796 I mean the majority of the colors are based off of official LEGO colors. It’s not like they completely just made up all the colors for everything in the game.
I think the gray is still light enough to consider it white, most things that we consider white both in videogames and real life arent "pure white" but we still call them white because its the closest color. I think LEGO'S official light gray is too dark for jango fett.
@@santinocermelo7330 You can make things white they just have to change the hex code that I showed in the video. A lot of figs have colors that don’t exist in LEGO so there’s nothing you can do about that
On the subject of those lines being on the wrong side, I've heard that basically every single figure in TCS has a mirrored torso. E.g. Padawan Anakin at 2:45 in this video has his braid on the wrong side.
I believe it’s mostly the lsw1 characters that suffer from this since tt games had to basically remake all these characters for tcs, I’d have to check to see if there’s any more but i know jango has flipped torso and head uvs and the 4 anakin_jedi characters from the first game have flipped torso uvs
