      Belichick is below .500 without Brady. The fact that he can’t even win half his games without Brady is very damning. In Mac Jones second year, Belichick hired Matt Patricia a DEFENSIVE coordinator as their offensive coordinator. The Mac Jones 3rd year the o-line was 30th in pass protection and the WRs were 32nd in separation. And who was the GM that drafted and traded for those players, it was Belichick. There are ZERO QBs that could have succeeded in that situation. Belichick committed coaching malpractice on Mac Jones career, and left the Patriots in shambles. That’s why he got zero NFL job offers. I’m sorry but that is simply not true. BB had control of an NFL team a few years ago, and he did such a bad job of managing their young QB, their roster and their draft that it will take them multiple drafts/free agency periods to put that team back together. Most of BB rings came a decade or more ago and Brady is retired, there is a reason nobody wanted him. Not to mention if you hire BB you have to hire his gaggle of losers Macdaniels and Patricia

Players play for each other and not for the coach who views them as replaceable! The problem was Bill never felt he was replaceable! He had too much control of the team and they were not any checks and balances in place for criticism! NFL owners are looking for new young blood, interpersonal relationships with players and staff and a GM who knows how to recruit a diverse team! • @zackyezek3760
    @zackyezek3760 Месяц назад +3

    Why are they acting like this is so s great mystery or scandal. It’s OBVIOUS why the rest of the NFL passed on Bill, as they did last year:
    1) He was successful with Tom Brady and ONLY Tom Brady. He was a mediocre Browns (and briefly Jets) HC before Brady, okay not great Patriots HC before Brady, and back to mediocre-bad Patriots coach after Tom Brady left.
    2) He insisted on having full GM power then used it to prove he sucked at scouting & drafting high end talent, especially on offense, and was no longer elite at developing players.
    3) His program, his approach stopped working in New England for the last 3 years he was there, the only place it EVER did work.
    Bill Billichick WAS an all time great coach. Emphasis on the past tense. Nobody wanted to be the sucker who hires the latest version of 1990s Mike Ditka or late 2010s Tom Coughlin. He’ll need to show something with UNC to get another shot in the NFL, and I think he took that job because he knows it.

    • @lurkoasis9620
      @lurkoasis9620 Месяц назад

      The staff he puts around himself is also not great. Just like he's already doing at UNC, he hires his old buddies and kids, not the best candidates available. He only wants to work with people he's comfortable with and he knows will be his yes-men, even if they are completely incompetent at what they do. That worked while he had the literal greatest QB of all time, but the coaching staff is also a team sport, and one guy surrounded by a bunch of bumbling buddies isn't going to be able to compete with coaching staffs like the Chiefs and Lions have, especially in the modern NFL. Plus, his coaching style is falling out of favor with current players, and he was a below-average GM who thought he was smarter than everybody else despite the results. There's a lot of bad to go with the good when it comes to him, and it's even debatable how much good even remains at this point

    It's not a popular opinion, but Pete Carroll was a better coach than Bill Belichick. He did more with less in New England, dominated college football in a way that only Nick Saban and Tom Osborne have done, and then he went back to the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks of all teams and never missed the playoffs with them in spite of their quarterback selfishly taking up 50% of the team's salary cap. Once Belichick lost Brady and his other star players, he proved that he couldn't coach a team above its talent.
    He's going to definitely struggle at North Carolina. Butch Davis came back to college and brought in talent that UNC hadn't had in bunches, and he couldn't get Carolina to double-digit wins or title contention. The ACC is much weaker now, but Clemson is still Clemson, Miami is getting back to respectability, and there are a bunch of hungry teams at the bottom. I don't see him winning anything tbh.

      Pete did NOT less in New england. Thats cap, pete took a team that was in the superbowl and they continuously got worst. this is such revisionist history because pete went to college and then brought his COLLEGE players to the nfl. come on now. also, bill took mac jones to the playoffs, and look at mac jones in another place WITH TALENT.

    It takes two to tango, Bill isn’t going to go to a struggling team that could impact his legacy.
    And there aren’t a host of contending/good teams both looking for a new coach and willing to turn everything over to Bill.
    Let’s not forget, he’s not got a stellar resume without Tom. That has to factor into this.
    Greeny’s entire argument can be boiled down to “but but but but 6 rings!!!!”
    Bill is picky, the same way a beautiful woman isn’t going to go out with just anyone, he is going to be selective over his landing spots.
    That will have cost him. There just aren’t many if any teams that would meet his criteria, that would be willing to give him the keys.

    There is no way BB called in to ask to become the coach of the Jets. Funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Just because he knows Mike Tannenbaum doesn't mean he was looking to talk to the owner he hates and why he left the Jets originally. Best part of this video is looking at Bart Scott. That guy is going down with the sun earlier than he wants. LOL My goodness is he jealous.

    Belichick is likely the greatest football mind, but he is severely lacking in other attributes necessary to be a great football coach unless he is in the most ideal of circumstances. He got extremely lucky to have fall into his lap the PERFECT player with the following attributes: the impeccable ability to LISTEN, DEFER, be UNSELFISH, accept the harshest criticism of anyone on the team as a LEADER, and a indefatigable WORK ETHIC. Along with this, of course, it helped that this player was a QB who developed his arm into one of the strongest and most accurate, ultimately perfecting the most important position in the game. Without this exceptional player, as a head coach, Belichick has been an ABSOLUTE DISASTER, with multiple QBs, Drew Bledsoe, Cam Newton, Mac Jones, Bernie Kosar, and Vinny Testaverde. As a coordinator, he has been a major success because he does not have to manage the other aspects involved with coaching, and can focus simply on using his mind.

    It's not fair for Greeny to chastise "31 teams in the NFL" for not hiring him -- because some teams do have successful coaches with good playoff teams wherein it might be risky to replace them. BUT it's certainly fair to say that there are MANY FAILED NFL teams who absolutely should have extended BB an opportunity to coach. In many ways, the woke NFL does indeed SUCK.

    The man has 8 rings. He's 72. Let him do what he fuggin' wants! The NFL will survive--it's a reality TV show, essentially--as long as the games are entertaining and the Vegas handle keeps growing, it's all good. They can use whoever as coaches. The more dysfunctional the organizations, the better for feeding the "GET UP" dra-a-a-ma. The DraftKings, FanDuel, and assorted casino sites will do just fine.
