Belichick is below .500 without Brady. The fact that he can’t even win half his games without Brady is very damning. In Mac Jones second year, Belichick hired Matt Patricia a DEFENSIVE coordinator as their offensive coordinator. The Mac Jones 3rd year the o-line was 30th in pass protection and the WRs were 32nd in separation. And who was the GM that drafted and traded for those players, it was Belichick. I’m sorry but that is simply not true. BB had control of an NFL team a few years ago, and he did such a bad job of managing their young QB, their roster and their draft that it will take them multiple drafts/free agency periods to put that team back together. Most of BB rings came a decade or more ago and Brady is retired, there is a reason nobody wanted him. Not to mention if you hire BB you have to hire his gaggle of losers Macdaniels and Patricia

Green forgot to mention that all of his assistants or coordinators failed horribly because they tried to use the old slave mentality as Bill! Players play for each other and not for the coach who views them as replaceable! The problem was Bill never felt he was replaceable! He had too much control of the team and they were not any checks and balances in place for criticism! NFL owners are looking for new young blood, interpersonal relationships with players and staff and a GM who knows how to recruit a diverse team! These are suburban kids now and not all of them need the nfl to change their lives! They do it for the love of the game!
I’m glad RC checked Mike about Morris. The falcons signed cousins to that huge bag & he still drafted penix because he knew what was up. But because they paid Kirk so much money they won’t let him just bench him
Greeny he had 2 he was head coach of the browns and head coach of the patriots. He wanted a 3rd chance. Also Belicheck didn't draft Brady Bobby Grier was GM then. Bill was just Head coach. Also if Bill was so sure Brady was who he ended up being why was Bledsoe playing and why did he draft him 199 instead of in round 1? The revisionist history here is wild.
Not getting an NFL job is the best thing that could have happened for Bill. He has been there, done that and achieved everything. Getting a chance to do something different, work with young players and build this with his son will be truly enjoyable. For the university, he will build a great program. No one works harder than Bill or understands the game better.

Who made the decision to stick with Tom Brady for the playoffs then the Super Bowl? Who made the decision to release Bledsoe the year after? I am pretty certain it wasn't Tom Brady.
People should realize it would be Bill's 4th chance to be an NFL headcoach. He was Cleveland's coach, he had the NY Jets job and accepted before reneged and took the Patriots job.
Why are they acting like this is so s great mystery or scandal. It’s OBVIOUS why the rest of the NFL passed on Bill, as they did last year: 1) He was successful with Tom Brady and ONLY Tom Brady. He was a mediocre Browns (and briefly Jets) HC before Brady, okay not great Patriots HC before Brady, and back to mediocre-bad Patriots coach after Tom Brady left. 2) He insisted on having full GM power then used it to prove he sucked at scouting & drafting high end talent, especially on offense, and was no longer elite at developing players. 3) His program, his approach stopped working in New England for the last 3 years he was there, the only place it EVER did work. Bill Billichick WAS an all time great coach. Emphasis on the past tense. Nobody wanted to be the sucker who hires the latest version of 1990s Mike Ditka or late 2010s Tom Coughlin. He’ll need to show something with UNC to get another shot in the NFL, and I think he took that job because he knows it.
The staff he puts around himself is also not great. Just like he's already doing at UNC, he hires his old buddies and kids, not the best candidates available. He only wants to work with people he's comfortable with and he knows will be his yes-men, even if they are completely incompetent at what they do. That worked while he had the literal greatest QB of all time, but the coaching staff is also a team sport, and one guy surrounded by a bunch of bumbling buddies isn't going to be able to compete with coaching staffs like the Chiefs and Lions have, especially in the modern NFL. Plus, his coaching style is falling out of favor with current players, and he was a below-average GM who thought he was smarter than everybody else despite the results. There's a lot of bad to go with the good when it comes to him, and it's even debatable how much good even remains at this point
Suddenly everyone forgot why Bill couldn't get a HC job in the NFL, because when Brady left Bill couldn't win anymore and couldn't draft good players. If Bill was a HC he would want to be like a GM as well and draft his players. Which he's bad at.
Lol. You give Tom Brady way to much credit. He was an amazing qb but not superman. Tom Brady needs a good team, good defense, good wrs, good line, just like EVERY amazing qb does.
@@TheMovieEditor lol When Tom Brady played for the Patriots they won, he left for the Buccaneers and won a Superbowl there, After Brady left the Patriots, they didn't win anymore, and Bill couldn't ever find a good QB to replace him.
I agree with you Greeny, most NFL management teams would be intimidated by Bill because he knows more about every facet of the game and management then they do. It will be comical (again) to see who the Bears select as their next (short-lived) head coach.
Greenberg get your head out from where the sun doesn't shine. Belichick has 8 super bowls victories under his belt 2 as an assistant coach with the Giants and 6 with the Patriots. He has nothing else to prove in the NFL.. College is a new challenge for him. If he wins he wins if he loses he still wins. He can't lose. He will leave with a boat load of money and a pretty lady to live happily ever after. It doesn't get any better than that
Honestly Bill just wanted to do something he’s always wanted to….return to his roots. It makes sense. Another point: Tom Landry had SEVERAL losing seasonsb4 being released. But Bill has 2 in a row and people quit on him. It’s ridiculous.
These teams are starting to understand that there is a new generation of player coming in and the future, and that the league is changing jn styles of offense and things. And let’s be honest bills way of doing it will not work anymore, becusde you will never find another qb that will do what Brady did, for those patriot teams. Greeny is right. The NFL is not better with Bill Belichick out of it. 333 career wins and eight SuperBowl titles overtakes anything in football, and the hierarchy in the NFL would rather win their way than Bill's way tells you they settle for mediocrity and not greatness.
Giving Bill Belichick totally control as a GM and Coach, I oppose it. But I agree with Greeny. All these teams should have hired Bill as Head coach ASAP: the Chicago Bears, Panthers, and Cowboys.
Bart is hilarious, “they’re one game out of first place” they are 6-7. They were 7-10 last year with a different coach and Desmond as their QB, they are definitely underachieving
Fake outrage, as a Patriots fan, it was quite clear Brady carried Bill's refusal to adapt to an offensive minded league. He was a control freak who scouted offense poorly and whiffed on pretty much every skill position. Why would an NFL team risk that?
@@Deadpool19917Brady had the Avengers in Tampa. Bill had bums in NE. He took Mac Jones and a bunch of nobodies to the playoffs. That alone is a remarkable achievement.
It's not a popular opinion, but Pete Carroll was a better coach than Bill Belichick. He did more with less in New England, dominated college football in a way that only Nick Saban and Tom Osborne have done, and then he went back to the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the Seahawks of all teams and never missed the playoffs with them in spite of their quarterback selfishly taking up 50% of the team's salary cap. Once Belichick lost Brady and his other star players, he proved that he couldn't coach a team above its talent. He's going to definitely struggle at North Carolina. Butch Davis came back to college and brought in talent that UNC hadn't had in bunches, and he couldn't get Carolina to double-digit wins or title contention. The ACC is much weaker now, but Clemson is still Clemson, Miami is getting back to respectability, and there are a bunch of hungry teams at the bottom. I don't see him winning anything tbh.
Pete did NOT less in New england. Thats cap, pete took a team that was in the superbowl and they continuously got worst. this is such revisionist history because pete went to college and then brought his COLLEGE players to the nfl. come on now. also, bill took mac jones to the playoffs, and look at mac jones in another place WITH TALENT.
Heck even Rex Ryan has accomplished more without Brady. People act like we don’t have TEN YEARS of a sample with Bill and no Tom. He’s coached over 200 games without Brady and he’s 20 games under 500
It takes two to tango, Bill isn’t going to go to a struggling team that could impact his legacy. And there aren’t a host of contending/good teams both looking for a new coach and willing to turn everything over to Bill. Let’s not forget, he’s not got a stellar resume without Tom. That has to factor into this. Greeny’s entire argument can be boiled down to “but but but but 6 rings!!!!” Bill is picky, the same way a beautiful woman isn’t going to go out with just anyone, he is going to be selective over his landing spots. That will have cost him. There just aren’t many if any teams that would meet his criteria, that would be willing to give him the keys.
There is no way BB called in to ask to become the coach of the Jets. Funniest thing I've heard in a long time. Just because he knows Mike Tannenbaum doesn't mean he was looking to talk to the owner he hates and why he left the Jets originally. Best part of this video is looking at Bart Scott. That guy is going down with the sun earlier than he wants. LOL My goodness is he jealous.
Belichick is likely the greatest football mind, but he is severely lacking in other attributes necessary to be a great football coach unless he is in the most ideal of circumstances. He got extremely lucky to have fall into his lap the PERFECT player with the following attributes: the impeccable ability to LISTEN, DEFER, be UNSELFISH, accept the harshest criticism of anyone on the team as a LEADER, and a indefatigable WORK ETHIC. Along with this, of course, it helped that this player was a QB who developed his arm into one of the strongest and most accurate, ultimately perfecting the most important position in the game. Without this exceptional player, as a head coach, Belichick has been an ABSOLUTE DISASTER, with multiple QBs, Drew Bledsoe, Cam Newton, Mac Jones, Bernie Kosar, and Vinny Testaverde. As a coordinator, he has been a major success because he does not have to manage the other aspects involved with coaching, and can focus simply on using his mind.
It's not fair for Greeny to chastise "31 teams in the NFL" for not hiring him -- because some teams do have successful coaches with good playoff teams wherein it might be risky to replace them. BUT it's certainly fair to say that there are MANY FAILED NFL teams who absolutely should have extended BB an opportunity to coach. In many ways, the woke NFL does indeed SUCK.
After greeny takes in the jets this past season I don’t t think he knows football well. Everyone thinks the same. He mishandle Tom Brady at the end (five plus years.) mike Tomlinson hasn’t had a losing season. Andy Reid to the superbowl with two different teams.
Bills need for control is what’s keeping him out of the league. Same with Pete Carrol . College is where he’ll get that control . Sets his kid up with a good job

The man has 8 rings. He's 72. Let him do what he fuggin' wants! The NFL will survive--it's a reality TV show, essentially--as long as the games are entertaining and the Vegas handle keeps growing, it's all good. They can use whoever as coaches. Fake outrage, as a Patriots fan, it was quite clear Brady carried Bill's refusal to adapt to an offensive minded league. He was a control freak who scouted offense poorly and whiffed on pretty much every skill position. Why would an NFL team risk that?
Six rings. Lol.
Yep, NFL execs acknowledged the obvious: without TB, Belichick is an average joe coach, whom they would’ve had to over pay 😅
@@deanalbertson7203 Brady won more after. Belicheck didn't. Says all you need to know.
I mean they could just have him agree to just coach and leave the player personnel to someone else. His problem was drafting not coaching.
@@Deadpool19917Brady had the Avengers in Tampa. Bill had bums in NE. He took Mac Jones and a bunch of nobodies to the playoffs. That alone is a remarkable achievement.
Unc recruits are going to be piling in just on reputation alone
“He is the network”
The 2 goats in football and basketball went there LT & MJ now we got Bill !!!! Let’s go tar heels !!!
I think you can make a strong argument for Pete Carroll. You provided a lot of useful, intriguing information. Great post.
@@JasenMinusPete went 8-8 and was fired for Belicheck who then went 5-11 with the same team the next season
@davis2k1234 the team Pete had was a Superbowl team that got worst the 3 years he was there.
Heck even Rex Ryan has accomplished more without Brady. People act like we don’t have TEN YEARS of a sample with Bill and no Tom. He’s coached over 200 games without Brady and he’s 20 games under 500
Bring in Nick Saban as the OC!
Dan Mullen 2018 jordan brand. Underrated
Greeny’s entire argument can be boiled down to “but but but but 6 rings!!!!”
Bill is picky, the same way a beautiful woman isn’t going to go out with just anyone, he is going to be selective over his landing spots.
That will have cost him. There just aren’t many if any teams that would meet his criteria, that would be willing to give him the keys.
As a cowboy fan I’m sad, they shoulda hired him last February.
UNLIKABLE
Only one not showing Jordan's
Is Greeny his agent? Why does he care so much?
I bet Charlie Weiss is thinkin' that every game Bill will have a decided schematic advantage.”
I checked out when the gentleman said age-ism.
Mike Greenberg doesn’t like Bart Scott.
Nobody does
SEC!!! ❤❤❤❤
After greeny takes in the jets this past season I don’t t think he knows football well. Everyone thinks the same. He mishandle Tom Brady at the end (five plus years.) mike Tomlinson hasn’t had a losing season. Andy Reid to the superbowl with two different teams.
Is Belichick really all that good? I mean, take TB out of the equation, and he’s like every other coach 😏
Bills need for control is what’s keeping him out of the league. Same with Pete Carrol . College is where he’ll get that control . Sets his kid up with a good job
He is overrated without the greatest quarterback in the history of the game he's a sub .500 coach...Greeny said he can't get a 2nd job the pats where the 2nd job he failed in Cleveland before New England and failed in N.E. without Brady
Bro you gotta be a youngin thinking that 😂
without bill, brady wouldn’t exist either
@jharp08 52 watched him suck up the joint in Cleveland an ride Brady's coat tails in New England.... Look it up for yourself you are what your record says you are an he is a average coach an a HORRIBLE GM
@@jharp08nah he ain't a good coach
@@bankofwerner4206without Brady bill would have been fired
This comment section, mostly does not know football. Pretty apparent.
I had some good year in ths NFL.
He sucked his last 4 to 5 years in NE especially picking talent and he ruined mac jones
Good example Morris from ATL . Unsuccessful coach . But unfortunately these days it’s more about presentation than substance or success.
It's mindboggling. It's all about image. The NFL is about to get out-maneuvered.
Greeny is so wrong on this. Absolutely Horrendous. People who never played football should STOP talking about FOOTBALL!
The Giants should have done anything to get Bill. We will have a new QB and we have some good players on D. We are a good draft pick and coach away from being a playoff team. Ugh.
No brady no belichick, brady made belichick!!
Get over it
Greeny is wrong because the Patriots was his second team after the Browns lol.
Why are people mad?
The man has 8 rings. He's 72. Let him do what he fuggin' wants! The NFL will survive--it's a reality TV show, essentially--as long as the games are entertaining and the Vegas handle keeps growing, it's all good. They can use whoever as coaches. The more dysfunctional the organizations, the better for feeding the "GET UP" dra-a-a-ma. The DraftKings, FanDuel, and assorted casino sites will do just fine.
So you’re telling me it was Brady/Goat the reason for belichick success.?? Is that’s why no NFL owner hired him.
"Made" Tom Brady into the greatest QB is kinda wild. Media loves their binary hyperbole.
People who never played sports say things like that. O and look who said it Greeny. I bet Bart wanted to smack him for that comment
Miami oh
As a Falcons fan I’m so glad we didn’t hire BB.josh Mcdaniels as OC, Patricia as DC would make me want to die, Penix would be on his way to being Mac Jones 2.0 . BB ruined the Pats, can’t win without Brady and can’t draft good players. Good luck in NC, stay there.
Nah we should have gotten him.
You're really sad. You're a Falcons fan. It's mindboggling how afraid your owner is and how awful most owners are.
Greeny😂😂😂
No one wants a lying cheater SMH 😭😭😂
terrible segment
Ryan Clark is so full of himself.
I’m glad he went to college and not the NFL that’s the problem with the NFL all the same coaches carousel around and new guys that deserve a shot don’t get it
Watch he’s gonna get coach saben
Probably took the job just so Dallas won't call him.
Atl pick raheem over bill. What does atl do well?
