I love me some Orients. I currently own 3 of them. My first and favorite being my Kamasu (blue) and I have 2 quartz models. I may pick up an Orient Star model soon. Quality watches, affordable watches and my favorite watch out there for the money. Great review.
The Orient Star diver is really well made and superbly proportioned with all the design elements in harmony. Exceptional lume too which none of my Seikos can match. No regrets with it. I may even get the green dial variant or the one with pepsi bezel.
I'm on the market for an orient divers in blue or green or navy colour so thank you that's a very interesting side by side comparison. I would be interesting to see also the "triton light" RA-AC0K03L next to these... if you have it...
The Orient Star Diver does have the best lume though, in the tests it has the same lume quality as the Phoibos Great Wall, that has fifteen layers of X1 lume, and a Swiss movement, a better strap, and ceramic bezel, but you have to get use to it's ridiculous design.
Great review. I wish they would have lumed the entire bezel instead of just the pip. Not to be nitpicking here but Sakura is pronounced Saw-coo-ra. It’s Japanese for cherry blossom... Think of Natuto’s pink haired friend. They pronounce it incorrectly but it’s close.
indices has a healthy dose of 'alipna seastrong' sauce. i personally am a fan of it. power reserve indicators are always weird for me too. i think id like the novelty of it for a day or two to see how much or little activity recharges it, but after the first week id be over it and wishing i had a cleaner dial. ps. im sure there are other watches with that indices style, that's just what popped to mind immediately for me. shame the bezel isnt lumed too
It does! I have a strapcode angus jubilee and it fits my OS diver! I don’t like the look of it though... I bet the super o from strapcode would look better because it’s all brushed
@@theblackacre2560 yea there’s no polished surfaces on the OS diver so the polished center links from the Triton strapcode jubilee clash with the all brushed case from the OS
I own the ray2 and one thing that makes it feel cheap to me is a chromed edged bezil it does not match the case. Does the triton have a chrome edges bezil?
I just figured out why there is some play in the strapcode bracelet they use a 1.8mm spring bar the oem bracelet comes with a 2.5mm spring bar, the hole on the strapcode is to narrow to accommodate the oem spring bar so the 1.8mm is as tight as I would like
Maybe you do this with all of your videos, but I noticed on this one you deliberately set them all to 10 and 2 so the logo/PR shows. Unless it was actually 10:10 when you filmed it of course. 😁 Now I see that you actually do this all the time. Can't believe I didn't notice 'til now. LOL.
I got the Pepsi at $530 at Jomas including shipping & tax. I also have the Kamasu red dial (which is fantastic), but the Kamasu is not a DIVER'S watch. While it is beautiful, it is not a stainless tank. I would add, though, that the Kamasu is very clearly a down-speced version of this Orient Star. Both watches look nothing like a Seiko.
The Kamasu is very much a diver watch. It may not be ISO certificated, but I took mine down to 35m and it's still ticking on my wrist happy. Also what do you mean it's not a stainless tank? By that logic, the Omega Seamaster also isn't a dive watch, or the Citizen Promaster just because they come in 40-41mm size?

I love em too!..just back from Bangkok..oh..nevermind
Nice to see this one getting some attention. Everyone always recommends orient for the first watch, but I think OS has some great value for money

what a beauty but the clasp and no ceramic bezel is the killer...

I enjoyed your review I have the triton and the star I love them both .
Beautifully done video. Kudos.
Great video as usual ! 👏🏻
The Triton has sapphire crystal as well. I own the Triton the ray II and I just ordered the green Komatsu.

If you could only have one... would you choose this or a trident/Neptune?
JUST curious, I just ordered a green OS diver . Did you ever find out if the strapcode triton bracelet fit the watch? Thanks!

How long is lug2lug for all three watches? And what's your wrist size?
I wish they had this in 42mm ... Star Diver
I agree. I have slowly adapted to larger watches, but 43 - 44 mm is just a bit too big. 41 - 42 mm would be better.
@@martintanz9098 same here.. anything close to 44mm (43.6) is just too big for me too...

Nice watch, good review, horrible bezel misalignment.
I call it the Helm or the Wheel... because it looks like a ships helm or wheel.
Where can I pick up orient Neptune?
What do you think about orient m force 3rd gen vs orient star in comparison quality?
Haven't handled the M Force much, sorry
So does the Triton bracelet fit on the Star?
It does line up but the funny thing is my strapcode triton bracelet fits but there is a tiny bit of play whereas the two oem bracelet are a exact fit

Not as tight as I would like should I say

Every watch in every commercial picture is on this time, 10 past 10.
Blue Brothers
I prefer the Triton over the Star. I don't see any difference in terms of quality.
The lume is better. Different compound. Check out RelativeTime's video, he tests it.
Can be found for $100 more than the Triton. I’m not sure it’s worth it for slightly better lume and 10hrs more of power reserve...
Orient Star much more better, very solid and great craftsman finishing. In-house mechanism, 100% made and assembled in Japan.
I can't deal with the Triton random placement of power reserve.. it would irk me every day

There is orient 3 star which is the cheap stuff
all of them beat mediocre seiko
Clasp is a joke..
I don’t like the orient star as much as the Triton. It looks cartoony to me
