I have the same turbo for my fk8. I love it. I had to purchase the billet bypass valve separately because i was an early beta tester and they added it recently. Highly recommend it!! Makes the car sound NARLY!!
8:45 is not a head gasket. The turbo port is part of the head so your head gasket would be below the turbo port. What you are pointing at is a valve cover gasket
Dealer’s choice regarding the valve cover color depending on future wrap color(if that’s your plan) but having said that Honda Red would go with your current color combo. The yellow one popped in the Limited model’s engine bay as the Boost Blue would with the same factory paint. Online photo examples speak for themselves but at the end of the day…it’s your world Brother! Do whatever makes you smile ear to ear when you pop the hood…there in lies your answer. Comments/opinions be damned😁.
@@GridZilla On a cosmetic note…one of those Custom shops/You Tube in Florida that customized a LE CTR with the yellow valve cover had a suggestion from one of the viewers that sounded pretty good/show more of the valve cover with the stock engine cover mounted on top. The suggestion was to cut away the non-red portion of the cover(cleanly of course with the edges smoothed out) which would expose a greater area of the valve cover. Anyway,it sounded cool but dealer’s choice. On the Spoon valve cover topic I read somewhere that if you wanted it Spoon certified Spoon in Orange,Ca. would have to install it. I don’t think it’ll make a difference to you considering that you have gone through so many cars etc. but I thought it was interesting whether true or not.
@@justwingingit1 sounds like a cool idea but think I’ll stick to the uncut version for now. I had the spoon valve cover on my fk8. It’s a pretty basic bolt on. Literally anyone can install it
On a side note…not a fan of any aftermarket intakes(stock best performing)but I have to admit that the look of the Mishimoto coated in Honda Red looked pretty nice! Just my two cents on color combo etc.
Word on the street is the OEM intake actually is pretty restrictive on the FL5 once you get past stock power so while modern oem intakes are usually pretty good, this time around it might be better earlier in the modding process to make the switch
@@GridZilla Interesting. I was going by FK8 info. from Church Performance Tuning and 27Won who don’t make an intake for that very reason. Honda Engineering/Development as opposed to aftermarket etc. I have to admit that an RV6 Turbo with the power that it can generate will need the best possible option to achieve it’s maximum potential. It would be nice to see a before and after intake comparison with the RV6 stock intake/aftermarket…not going to lie. I ended up buying a 2021 Accord 2.0t with 10k miles and found it interesting that the intake is similar in design to the FL5…box like pocket. Not sure about online theories but the design is supposed to be some type of air charge reserve… Cosmetics or Sound change were the only differences from a stock intake to an aftermarket one which is fine for those looking for that. I still like the PRL Titanium intake setup not so much for cosmetics or performance but the weight savings over stock. Same thought regarding a Lithium Car Battery but I still might wait until there is a solid state version someday…still concerns me about that instant fire thing if it’s ever compromised…unless that’s just a cell phone/Tesla thing(being in a serious wreck).
Awesome video as always! I look forward to seeing how you like the new turbo setup!! Keep up the amazing content!! Enjoy your day and week ahead!!🚙👍🏼👊🏼😀
Track day coming up in Aug 6th. Spoiler alert. It will 100% overheat. I don’t have an oil cooler yet and that WILL be necessary. Not to mention it will also be a 100F day.
400tq is no issue at all, its where it comes in at, thats the issue. Plenty of people around 600whp and more than more than 400tq on stock motors. You dont want it below say 4k rpm, thatll spit a rod out, move it higher up and your good👌🏼
That turbo monster sir! Have you adjusted the electronic wastegate actuator after upgrade big turbo? How do you adjust that? By adjusting the screw to preload or by computer? Thanks for your time sir! Merry Cmas!
Thanks for mentioning the valve cover gasket leak - I wasn’t aware it was an issue! But curious to know why you want to replace the valve cover with a Spoon/J Racing. Functional or aesthetic reason?
@@thebumpban4959 put it this way. I wouldn’t advise against it but I would recommend you crank that AN line down a bit tighter than recommended and absolutely get the RV6 Bypass valve too. DO NOTRUN IT WITH THE STOCK bypass valve.
Be sure to pick up RV6s diaphragm-less BPV as well! Safeguard against tearing the OEM unit and losing boost pressure
I want that unit for sure.

Yeaaaaah I ordered that piece too and didn’t get to be in time 🤦🏽♂️
What do you need for the install ? Is it simply bolt on ? Did you need additional parts or modifications?

You are correct.
Def the right turbo to choose from. Great vid as always man.
Appreciate it!

It’s hard not to go with wrinkle red 😁

1 Vote for yellow. And thanks for sharing knowledge on that gasket issue. Will need to monitor mine.
I get a little talkative in my video. Never sure if people like the details so I appreciate the feedback
if it spoon definitely gotta go with the yellow.
It would be really cool if you did some mods to raise the redline of your car.
I used to want to have a higher redline but I think that’s better suited to an NA build.
You mean valve cover gasket right?? Thats not the "head gasket"
Yea, valve cover gasket
Good you got me scared for a min. I was bummed out when you said head gasket.
Have you tracked the car yet? Would like to know on the cooling improvement + tuning options as its a new platform over the fk8. Following. 😚

That’s the plan. I think peak on the R660 is around 5k ish
Happy holiday sir! Have you ever met and CEL and throw any code like P2261 after upgraded turbo?
Yes I have… stop driving immediately and check your BPV.
I cannot believe you went for it..
Neither can I tbh 🤣

All tuning is done through Hondata

Are you running spoon rigid collar on the fl5?
Yes I am

I figure if I have to replace the gasket…. Might as well get a new valve cover! Lol

Why did you choose this turbo over the Garrett G25-660?
Garett is also a great turbo so between these two no particular reason
Go yellow 💛
The yellow is nice
spoon Yellow brother!!!
It does look good
550 hp here we come
for $600 plus, I'll just paint my own valve cover. 😄
Lol I’m actually considering that because the Spoon one is two years back ordered apparently
Spoon blue? Is tune required?
For the drop in turbo? Yes to be run safely
Thats not the headgasket. Thats the valve cover gasket
Yeah that’s what I meant to say 🤐🫣
Yellow papa
👍🏽
is it CARB LEGAL?
Highly unlikely
Yellow

Do you even grid bro 😅
It’s been tough this year ngl
