OMFG I MADE THIS RECORDING!!! I was a freshman studying at the New School in NYC and snuck my Mini Disc player and shotgun mic into this show. I gave the recording to some friends way back and clearly it got circulated. I had a ton of Glasper boots from the early Experiment days but lost them when my computer crashed. This is hands down The best of the bunch. It brings me so much joy to know that others can still listen to this performance. And my heart hurts for the loss of Roy. He was burning the 55 Bar down that evening.
Chris Graham if no one else says it. Thank You so much for capturing this classic moment 👊🏽🙏🏽😎. Do you know what song it is they’re playing for the main part of the video?
@@aaronhillsworld it is called. indulging in such. Rob just released... at least the "A" part. they also play it in the "Harlem" video, as a trio (Chris dave and friends)
Thank you so much. This is phenomenal. Jamming this now. I got to meet Robert after the Herbie/Kamasi/Glasper show at Greek this summer. We met at an after hours bar and indian food restaurant. He was very cool. It was a great night.
Derrick Hodge is just straight killin on this. it's almost like he, at most pionts points, carries the pace of the whole performance it's ridiculous, spectacular bass work.
Super dope! not sure how anyone can tell from the sound, but the pic above does look like 55bar. And that would be a great place to experience a set like this.
The bridge part my dude, you know the part where the have those changes & that melody (7:40 - 8:03) It's 5/8 man, I'm very sure of that cause I tried counting the 6/8 through that part, but I didnt't land on the down beat of the main groove.
why don't they play this free at every show? like if you were that well known and at that level of creativity, wouldn't you want to do that all the time?
I’ve wondered that too and I assume part of it too was because they were all very excited because this was the very beginning of this group playing together, and they were together a lot but as time has gone on they have separated. I saw them summer of 05 and it was life changing because they were on this level of tightness and vibe
it actually is... listen closely. It's really in 5/8, but he subdivided the counting so that it seems like it's 4/4... what do you think the timing is?
I cant find any info on the net about this.. any chance I can get an good mp3 or FLAC rip of that cd? I've probably listen to this 20 times in the past few days its so good!
I'm pretty sure it's untitled...I've tried. he often plays this song special occassions. the few times he does and when they capture it on audio or video there's never a title! I think the made it up but never gave it a name
OK?! lol look i was tryna figure it out too lol... but I hear a lot of renditions goin on from his usual sets in the beginning... "Kiss from a rose"... "DillaLude"... but after the transition, it kinda sounds like they're just having a Jam session... they're just too awesome for words, huh?!?
from 7:40 onwards is a song they made up! I've seen three different videos of them playing it lol. I believe it's just untitled lol! anything that happens in between is just fair game for quoting dilla, radiohead ect...but that specific movement and rythym is something they wrote! I just don't know what it is!
it's still in 3/4 or 6/8 it's just that chris dave ridiculousness stunned my rhythm for a minute. chris MIGHT have been playing an up or down beat of some sort I can't quite put my finger on it at this time of the night lol
he tried dude! can't u see)) only Chris Parker knows ev'rythin 'bout ev'rybody. but he won't say. I bet that it's 4/3... chris dave sick though. they all sickheadz

Incredible !
Bridge is in 5/4 with a 5/8 over the top, which subdivides the bar in 2. 1 AND (2) e - a (3) AND 4 - A (5) E -- etc:)
Do you know the numbers for this if playing it in C e.g. C = 1, C# = 1.5, D = 2 and so on.
Of course I'd find you here lol
Exactly, that's pretty much what I'm saying... the bridge is in 5 and pretty much subdivides the way you're saying
