As a kid, this was my first exposure to the Shadow Hearts games on my PS2. After Frank grabbed the cactus and became my strongest character at the time, my kid brain was hooked and I made it my mission to find every random item he'd use
I always find it hilarious and fascinating at the same time what other countries choose to spoof and highlight from American culture. I lowkey feel this crew is sort of the most over-the-top and memorable for it and that's great.

I was getting all three of these games as they were coming out. I remembered the least about this one even though beating all three. I'm glad you've been covering them because now I'm remembering it all.
Complete. Global. Saturation. Your references get me every time! Also, this is such a bizarre series. I heard of it but never played it or even saw what it was like until your recaps.
Hope you enjoyed it! I am pretty committed to finishing the series I start, as long as I can reasonably recap a game. The only real filter I tend to have these days is avoiding non-canon entries or fansubbed games. It's fun to look at obscure games years later and see how they have aged vs when they came out.
I've enjoyed watching these recaps. Im hoping to get some copies of the series to play thanks to your videos. As always, thank you for the upload, Oni!
Gameplay-wise, the battle system is basically Covenant (which is good) so it holds up and the dungeon puzzles are fun (remind me of earlier Zelda). The NA battle theme "Dead Fingers Talk" is my favorite battle theme across the series.
Thank you for covering this game. It doesn't receive too much love from the fans But I love this game just like how I love Covenant. It actually has solid gameplay.
13:57-Patrick and Jack used the Émigré Manuscript to resurrect their deceased loved ones, only to fail. But Graham managed to succeed in bringing back Johnny? Yeah, those dudes should've just accepted their deaths and moved on. But for the record, if we do get a fourth Shadow Hearts game, I would like for the game to have a female protagonist and take place during WW2.
Impressed the cursed 3rd game got this video. Star Ocean 3, Grandia 3, From The New World, and Wild Arms 4 embody "competent gameplay, but story is too generic 6/10 anime dubbed by [insert long dead C-tier localizer here]"
Real shame this was the last one. I really loved the first 3 in the series. But this one went too comedy, and not enough horror for my tastes. Hopefully Penny Blood is good.
Yeah nah. 16 and running a PI joint what a joke of a premise. If he was running a lemonade stand or a lawn mowing gig, sure. You can't even register for a business at 16, how did he achieve this? Did mommy or daddy put their name on the lease?
I feel Grandia 3's lows are lower than From The New World's everyone is a meme character except 2/3rds of the villains and mariachi guy voiced by Goku.

I thought it was hilarious when he picked up the sword in the stone (with the stone) and just put a sword grip on the sword grip to wield. 😂
Sword + fish = Swordfish! that was funny! also the bus sign I have good memories from this game
-Set in America
-16 year old protagonist
-owns a detective agency
Yep, this game was made in Japan.

Yes! Thought you might skip this one but thank you for putting in the hard work to complete the series!! Xx

This franchise, including Koudelka & Xenosaga so badly deserve HD Remasters, fantastic RPG games!
An HD collection would be an insta-buy for me for sure
@@OniBlackMage Absolutely, hell, the Xenosaga games need the remaster the most, if only to fix the gameplay issues.
@@xebenatrosxeracroft5178 Yeah, you'd think with the popularity of Xenoblade, someone would jump on that

Oh Definitely! There is plenty to Work with for a WW2 setting or a horror story set around the 1960s!
The developers are working on a spiritual successor called Penny Blood

You are not wrong lol
nice, thanks
This one is a wild department from the Original Shadow Hearts lol
Funnily I had the same reaction finishing this game as I did with final fantasy 13. It does make me wonder if there's a pattern in taste.
Recap Time!
Best soundtrack in the series.
The soundtrack is very solid ... really good battle and dungeon themes
This is... nuts

This game sucked in my opinion. Boring story, unlikable characters. A lot like Grandia 3 actually.
As someone who's a huge fan of this entry specifically, I can see what you mean. It's honestly hard caried by its refined gameplay.
