  • When it comes to getting a ripe and delicious black sapote fruit the time that you pick your fruit is important. Also you need to know when it has ripened. A Grafted tree like the chocolate variety ensures that the taste of the fruit is the highest possible quality.
The variety in this video is the Chocolate Black Sapote and can be found here:

Thank you for this video on Black Sapote (Chocolate Pudding) fruit. I found it very informative on how to know a ripe and ready fruit from an unripe one.

great video - thanks a lot for that :) I have a black sapote from Hawaii that started to flower last year. It is in flower right now but keeps dropping everything - do you know if that's normal or whether the plants lacks something? It gets enough water and fertilizer every now and then

Ive had 1 growing for 4 years, still no fruit. Maybe this year. Good instructional video Thanks. But please never use a knife like that, cutting down towards your hand , Ive seen nasty accidents from that.

My first choc Sapote mistake was to pick too early off my first tree i was afraid the Possums would get it before its calex was lifted it was very low to the ground. I should of watch your video oh well and so it ripened eventually but what i got was a chocolate coloured jelly like structure not really like Black Sapotes i have tasted at the market. I assume the branch to persimmon information was not completed when the calex is down possibly the taste and giving its break apart structure was missing so this season i will wait.

Bought a couple at Tewantin fruit shop.Left on the bench for weeks to soften.Tried one tiny piece & immediately tasted poison... acid... threw up, tried to wash my mouth out to no avail...was like eating something soaked in roundup..... not going in my garden.

I'm in northern Australia, a bit faraway. I thought black sapote was easy to find in India. Apnyway, if you wish I can send you some seeds. In order to fruit you'll need to grow both male and female, apparently

Don't cut it (defile it) with a knife, simply use your fingers to split it by pulling it carefully apart. Show's much more luscious character.

What if it's not ripe it's just rotten all fruits have a dark texture when it's rotten look at a banana for example it goes rotten .so you say when the banana turns chocolate brown it's ripe.lol
