    I've watched a lot of instructional videos in technical subjects and you are among the clearest teachers I have ever seen. I hope you keep making these videos, because I'm sure you're helping a lot of people.

    I thought we're measuring force here? you should convert that into Newton or any other unit of force.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH ... this is really useful and understandable
    but i have a simple question
    in the problem question... how would i know if Ay is going up or going down, also Ax how to know if it's to the left or to the right?
    thank you

      It doesn't matter which direction you draw it as long as you include it in your free-body diagram. If you draw it the wrong way originally, your equation will produce a negative number. This tells you your arrow is pointing the wrong direction. Say if you drew Ay pointing up and your equation produced -25 N, you could say that the force Ay is actually 25 N downwards. Hope this helped.

    If we sum up Moments about A The equation has the term -(-Tx6) for the cw moment and negative force (down). Is this correct?
    That's only way T will come out as a negative value (-140).. Subbing this value into sum of forces in y would give a double negative value which would give me the wrong answer for Ay though.
    Or do I ignore the negative value for T when substituting in the moment equation.. then the answer comes out as +ve but I drew my arrow for T down, would that be correct?
    Thanks for the video!

    what's the difference between the roller and rockers

    • @outstandingprofessor1506

      Roller support is the term widely used. Rocker support is kinematically the same. No difference. Just another name.

    I got 237.5 lb's for the A.y force, :L not sure how though, 1425 divided by 6 wasn't it?

    • @outstandingprofessor1506
      @outstandingprofessor1506  8 лет назад

      No. You will get 1470 divided by 6 which is equal to 245.
      Check 15*28 + 20*22 + 35*14 + 20* 6 = 1470
