    Home to a hobby ceramist with a growing vintage furniture collection, the vibrant Koka Studio was designed by architects Kalina and Robert Juchnevic of blok585m2, for Kalina’s sister, Katarzyna. Key elements of post war apartment renovation included opening up the dark and segmented floor plan and introducing era-appropriate materials such as terrazzo tiling and herringbone parquet flooring. The hero of the new open plan living space is the full size kitchen characterised by a combination of oak veneer and pink cabinets, Katarzyna’s favourite colour. A round dining table sourced at a local flea market features three original Bruno Rey chairs upcycled by Katarzyna herself and painted a bright green that mimics the green flecks of the terrazzo tiles. A striking openwork wire structure inspired by Alexander Calder’s mobiles separates the entrance from the living room whilst still allowing light from the double balcony doors to pass through.

    Finally my city! The housing estates in most of Warsaw neighbourhoods really look like the before-renovation condition of the flat and it's very awesome to see the transformation of this flat whilst the vintage element is still there to keep the history of it alive with a dash of fun and colour here and there. The architect did such an amazing job with the redesigning, making the flat so cosy and warm by the usage of the sunlight (since we don't have a lot of sun in Warsaw once summer is gone); needless to say, I'm so SO happy to see my city here on NTS, it makes me wonder how many more flats in Warsaw could be featured here to get the inspiration going!

      It is quite similar in Romania to with old buldings. The influence of an architect is amazing, the space featuring in this video is wonderful, I loved everything. I wonder how are the prices for properties in Polland? In Romania it has risen a lot the last years and here people are still attracted to buy the property and not rent.

    Very wise and optimal distribution to those 33sqm! 👌It looks much bigger with the positioning of the main elements, furniture and rooms divisioning. One of the best designs so far that not only includes an independent resting space for the owner but also a different one for socializing! Congrats to the team for such smart second life apartment design! 👏

    this one's sick. video production is great as usual. small note to the production team--really tiny thing here but i would find it helpful if the blueprint cutaways included some kind of "glow" on the part being discussed, as sometimes the architect narrates about changes and i don't know where to look, and the lines change or disappear so subtly that by the time the blueprint segment ends i'm not sure what happened. just a small thing, as i said. but i love these videos and they look great

    • @darysaura
      @darysaura Год назад +10

      That would be very very helpful, specially for those of us who don't understand English very well, and sometimes can not understand exactly what the architect is narrating. Some visual clues about the space being discussed can be very helpful 👍 It is a great idea, I hope it can be implemented.

    • @xflyer87
      @xflyer87 Год назад +7

      Obvious visual cues on the blueprints are a wonderful idea. I love seeing all the architectural deletions and additions that transform a space from just “liveable” into “loveable”. The bright, beautifully functional space, which also connects to the outdoors through the windows is spectacular.

    Looks great with plenty of light. Love the mix of wood and pops of colour. Perhaps the flow would be better if the couch was sitting directly across from the tv instead of the kitchen? The kitchen tends to be the messiest part of home day to day, so it would be nice to differentiate the living and dining spaces a little. Otherwise it feels like you're relaxing in the kitchen. Then the dining table can sit behind the couch near the window?

The colours are so relaxing and yet warm, not clinical like the all white places. It’s not cluttered, but also not so minimal that it feels stark or boring. So, they’ve managed to strike the perfect balance of colour, warmth, natural light, space, and functionality. Well done!!

    Absolutely genius, so much attention to little details, and the Calder "mobile" divider is brilliant. The only tiny suggestion I would offer would be to swap out the plaid throw on the sectional for a solid cobalt blue one. It would lead the eye to her porcelain collection on the String shelf (the plaid throw seems a "dead end." ) Everything is so considered -- bravo!

    Beautiful. That structure in front of the entryway is so great. And the concept of 2 doorways to the living room is unique, but I can definitely see it being useful, especially if 2 people lived there. It bothers me a little that the sofa and chair don't face the TV, but to each their own

    • @jenkenj
      @jenkenj Год назад +2

      I was thinking the same thing. I would leave the pink puffy chair the way it is but then put the sofa facing the tv and then have a long rectangular dining table behind that. You could put a bench seat w/ storage against that back wall if it was a little too narrow to have chairs all the way around. If you don't walk through that wall gap very much you could even put another chair there for symmetry and extra seating, plus it'd be a nice place to sit right by the window

    I liked the space, the design, and materials used. For me, I prefer more defined spaces and the couch location felt out of place. I would have placed it facing the TV with its back to the kitchen and dining table. And for privacy, I would not have taken a piece of the wall out separating the bedroom from the living room and putting up that curtain. But these are personal choices obviously.

    A bright, bold, and colorful interior. A full-size kitchen, vintage elements, and a collection on display. In the architectural revamp, they brightened up the dark hallway by tearing down a wall that used to separate the dining area from the kitchen. They also moved the laundry area and opened up part of the access to the master bedroom. Now, you can see almost the entire apartment from the entrance, and there's much more light everywhere! They got rid of the dark places, They met all the user's wishes, and even though it's a small apartment, it feels cozy, with its unique style and everything well organized.
