    Dear Sir,
    My PC was getting slow and was behaving weird. I emptied up all drives for a fresh installation of Windows. As I have two HDDs installed, I opened the cabinet and removed the power and SATA connection from the second one to avoid any installation issues. To my surprise, I found that the CPU Heatsink Fan Blades were not moving. I googled " CPU heatsink fan blades jammed " and I luckily stumbled upon your video. I did exactly as shown in the video and Voila! Fan blades started running normal. What a simple yet highly effective trick that does the job. Thanks for this tutorial, Sir. ❤😎🎉

    Brilliant tip! Hopefully this'll sort out my two dodgy case fans. It's not just the cost of replacing a fan for me, I hate wasting things that can be salvaged. In the end, most of what we chuck out just ends up in land fill. Also, as they say, a penny saved is a penny earned! :-)

    Great tip. Thank you. I used Ballistol as a lubricant and it seems to perform well. The only difference was that my fan was not rubber plugged, but sealed shut with plastic. So I had to drill a small hole. I wonder how long it will last with my crude re-sealing attempt.

    very helpful! my case exhaust fan had this issue where it wouldnt spin unless i spin it initially (which meant that i had to remove the side panel every startup) and i was looking for ways to solve this and stumbled upon this video. didnt even know that sticker was covering a something other than plastic. i used a q-tip to dab a little bit of motorcycle oil i had laying around and at first nothing changed when i tried spinning it myself but when i reapplied the sticker, screwed the fan back on, and booted the pc, the heat from the fan eventually loosened the stock lubricant and let the new oil do its thing

  • @mason5211
    @mason5211 3 года назад +4

    For me I fixed the issue by pushing the blade of the fan into the housing because it seemed to be a bit loose and would not spin smoothly

    Thank you so much for this I've always wondered how to fix fluid bearing fans!
    Lots of questions for you though! 1.*Can your technique help a fan where dust accumulated in it?
    2.*Or does dust not affect fluid bearing fans?
    3.*Is it just use time that makes a fan seize up how yours did? Or a combination of use time AND dust?
    4.* Without a filter I know fans spinning can pull in dust but as far as not spinning goes, I have a few unused PC fans laying around uncovered in a room right now (for months until I heard about dust messing them up) but I still have a few laying there right now for a couple days. So, do you think if given enough time, dust will build-up and make them seize up sooner rather than later when they are finally used?
    Sorry for so many questions. Googling isnt helping me at the moment. Plus I like to ask people myself.

    Hi Frugal Streamer. I just tried this now, thanks. it worked. I got to revive the PC 12v .27A but I discovered something, you can take the blade off by just carefully removing the locking plastic washer (it may be metal on some branded ones) after you've pull that rubber cover covered by the sticker (I used the most powerful PVA glue to stick both the cao and sticks back, I hope it works- I'll find out after 25 minutes). You can use a good thin tweezer (I used a Victoronix Swiff Knife's trimmer to do it but it warped it a bit but your can hammer it lightly to make it as close to straight as possible) to pull out that locking thing or washer, that locks the axel of the fan blade in place. I used 99.9 isopropyl alcohol to clean the shaft hole (w/ kitchen tissue and paper clip but I think a wipe you buy without any fragrance would be more durable to wipe it with if no fragrance exists) and the magnet on the fan blades.
    I then tested it with a 9v battery directly connected it to two protruding wire (careful not to cross them, put an insulator between them).
    It took a little less than an hour the first try (but most likely it'll just take 15 minutes on the 2nd or so when another fan needed reviving), about the same amount of time, you'd spend to buy (and take risk w/ Covid though) to go the mall, park and buy and less time to wait for the order ,online:-)
    It's nice it's working now, I can use it again (on our CoolerMaster PC so it still has original parts, though I'm mostly a Mac user) and it just needed cleaning and it's not the windings of the motor or any sub-components like the capacitor or resistor. I think I can apply this with the iMac's fan and save $US50 and a month of waiting for it to arrive
    :-)
    God bless, Rev. 21:4

    what are the alternatives to lubricant oil?

    • @FrugalStreamer
      @FrugalStreamer  3 года назад +1

      Any low viscosity multi-purpose oil will do, but don't use WD40. It is not designed to lubricate. 3-in-1 brand oil is easy to find, hence why I recommend it.
