when i was maybe seven or something, my homophobic father tried to imitate gay men by acting super feminine. he just walked around the apartment like a diva talking with a high pitched voice (he kinda slayed actually). he asked me "would you want a dad like that???", i answered "id prefer a dad like that over you". imagine a 7 year old kid having to listen and watch that. i still think my response was amazing. growing up in this kind of enviroment, i became homophobic and transphobic myself. now im 15 nonbinary and queer, living with just my mom and cat, who accept me no matter who i am❤❤❤.

For a massive chunk of my life I managed all of my mannerisms to not appear feminine. From how I spoke, how I stood, even how I used my hands while in a conversation. And every time I stifled myself, I would feel uneasy because it wasn't natural for me. It became such a habit that after transitioning I still suffer from it, though I've gotten better at allowing myself to be all of who I am.

He definitely was being silly and ridiculous, and the older I got I started suspecting that he might be a (closeted) gay given that I never once saw him with a girl, and he caught all my pornos because of how close he liked watching me. My dad thought holding a baby doll was ”gay" when I was younger. I went through a phase where I suddenly wanted to take my Baby Born everywhere, like she was a real baby and couldn't be left alone, which included strapping her into a little car seat and then carrying her on my back when we went shopping. I remember asking him to hold her (in the seat/carrier) once while I went to the bathroom, and he freaked out. He legit thought people would think he was gay and not, you know, a parent of a small(-ish) child. 😂

It's also really weird when men expressing love for their wives/girlfriends and being romantic is considered gay by their friends. I really feel for the men who don't feel able to express themselves freely in whatever way because of being teased for it, or even having people be hostile towards them if they think they're gay. Also, I'm totally with you that men who embrace feminine aspects of themselves are hot, it shows confidence and strength.

Hi Samantha. Thank you for what you put out into the world and being your stunning self. Just one thing here though. Being gay doesn’t require “intercourse” and “intercourse” doesn’t make someone gay. Not being physical with another person, whether because you are asexual, don’t feel ready, have trauma, don’t have a access to condoms or a safe space… or a wide range of other reasons, doesn’t mean you have no sexual identity, or are “default straight”. Just like being in a monogamous relationship with someone of the opposite sex, whether “forever” or (just) currently, doesn’t mean you’re not bi or pan (if we’re not going to use gay as a “catch all” term). And for those you have had sex, they could also be bi or pan, or maybe they decide it wasn’t right for them (for a ton of different reasons), or maybe they’re a sex worker, whether working directly with clients or in porn. Gotta love us that nuance. Much love!

Whether it was getting the "wrong ear" pierced or simply being seen in a Claire's at all, the thing that dumbfounded me the most was they would always refuse the simple small silver hoop and choose the biggest "diamond" they could get.
All I could think was when I was a kid hoops were toughguy earings (bikers/pirates/strongmen/etc) and diamonds were a girl's best friend, but that was the big pimpin era so, ya know.

13:03 I think it's actually a phenomenon called "Male Flight". Basically once women started to enjoy the things that made someone "manly", instead of both enjoying something, the men would run away and mark the item or activity as "feminine". this applies everywhere, like how teachers and nurses were men but when women took interest, the men ran away.

To respond to the last question, the most ridiculous time I've been called gay was for listening to Queen.
As a straight man who have had many gay friends and spent much of his 20s in bars where the LGBT+ community used to hang, being called gay is only amusing. Been "accused" of being gay at my old job a few times for different things and my reaction is usually simply to smile and flirt as i don't take it as an insult and rather silently laugh at how insecure they are.
This one stirred up so many old memories and stories with me and my best friend and things we did, sometimes for a convenience like holding hands in crowds, and other times silly stuff like nude wrestling in a friends dorm hallway (yes we were drunk as fck)

A male coworker of mine was walking out the door of our space to leave and said "Alright, see ya!" to which I said "Okay, bye!" and waved at him. He shook his head, chuckled a little bit and said, "Don't do that, man." My other coworkers and I were confused and I asked "Don't do what?" He responded "Don't wave at me. Just be like 'alright man, see ya later' and do this or somethin'." as he gave a quick two-finger salute My coworkers and I thought it was so hilarious that he was bothered by my waving, so everybody started waving at him and saying "Bye!" while we all laughed at the absurdity. It's absolutely crazy what some men perceive as being fruity or gay. XD
