      She's well trained at reading a script, but why doesn't Keysight use men for PR rolls like this? Obviously Keysight discriminates unfairly against men. For me this is insulting, and while shopping for a new oscilloscope I will be looking at other company's products.

    Great video. I learned a lot about sampling rates. I already understood how important having a high sample counts but knew nothing about the interleaving. That's was very interesting and super easy to understand due to how you presented it.
    Thanks, well done,
    Barry

  • @techsinc
    @techsinc 5 лет назад

    You need to be clear on what you mean by resolution. You yourself stated the Nyquist theorem. Higher sampling rate will increase the resolution of the wave form up to the point of Nyquist frequency limit given a sampling rate. Your time resolution is NOT increased (assuming you are already at high enough sampling rate). Time resolution is determined solely by the bandwidth limit of the scope.

    also there is cost per glitch to capture small details. For high end R&D more is better "007" leading to very high end equipment or use lesser test equipment for hobby projects. 😎 thanks.
    looks like the: Keysight MSOS804A - Mixed Signal Oscilloscope (8 GHz / 4 Analog Channels / 16 Digital Channels) at TE Equipment is $101,466.00 on 11/12/2022 🥰

    Discussing interleave distortion, with no mention of calibration and lab environment impact to instrument performance is leaving a gaping hole in the topic. It's easy to make a vendor's instrument crap the bed by forcing a self cal in one environment then moving it to another to do the measurement.
    Also some vendors suppress artifacts from their digitizers knowing they occur.
    It would also be nice to drop a note about waveform update rate and if it's continuous or in bursts, especially when you bring up "glitch"
    Otherwise, great vid.

  • @SalamanderDancer
    @SalamanderDancer Месяц назад

    If you had a choice of using 1 ADC at 1x sample rate versus doubling your sample rate by interleaving 2 ADCs, which measurement would be better? Is there a crossover point where the benefit of 2x the sample rate is gone when the time skew between the ADCs differs by some amount relative to the sample rate?

    3:06 There is a fault in these diagrams. A wave does not go backwards.

  • @444guns
    @444guns 3 года назад

    @1:15 - wait, what exactly is that "sampler" before the ADC ? I thought the ADC is the one responsible for sampling, the actual analog to digital conversion being the sampling process.

    • @thomasmaughan4798
      @thomasmaughan4798 2 года назад +1

      That would be the sample-hold device. It follows the input, keeping a tiny capacitor at the voltage it sees. When "hold" happens, the tiny capacitor stops following the input voltage and simply holds whatever voltage it has so the ADC can measure it. Most ADC designs cannot correctly encode a signal that changes voltage during the measurement process.

      I do apologize about my not understand. Mix sounds with video is one of the hardest thing. To sync up. And depending an what the video is for. I've learn that you can't sync sound and video at different rates. It's hard but it's easy at the same time. Less is more and more is less.
      Ever wanted to know why sound and video goes out of sync sometimes after playing a long shoot. Well it's the sound recording and video formats are at different rates. Took me 30 odd years to work that out. And using cheap gear.
