One of the weirdest goals for me. A striker who has terrible stats, most people probably never heard of him, just pulls off a beauty of a finish in the most important game of his countries history...
He rarely played in teams that were serving him with crosses from anywhere. Wingers nowadays are way too selfish, they rarely cross and when they do it they fail almost every time cause they never train for that. They just focus on trying to score. Eder is a really good striker in fact, he can play back to the box to serve his mates, he's pretty good with headers (but as wingers rarely cross to him...), has a really decent strike, he isn't selfish, not like almost every striker or winger playing today. Modern football is just focusing on stars, not really on team play. Anyway, i'm probably one of the rare people who believed in him when he subbed in cause our team had troubles to keep the ball near the box. He provoked something like 5 fouls, had 2 or 3 opportunities to score (before he scored, he shot a header with rebound that Lloris had much trouble keeping in hands and one of their players had to shot it away. He had another shot that went off target but was really close and then that great goal. Look how he protects the ball from Koscielny before scoring. Not many strikers can do that. Ok he'll never score 25 goals a season but he's very important and I'm sad nowadays almost every people just think that you have to score 40 goals per season to be considered a good player...
It's even more amazing when you learn of Eder's previous struggles which he has worked hard to overcome. I was so pleased to see Portugal win a major trophy for their mercifully patient, long-suffering fans around the World. And may God always bless Eder, and keep him free of harm.
I come here at least once a month to relive that feeling of pure joy I experienced that evening. Of all the players Portugal have had, this Eder goal is the one I will be remembering the commentary for in years to come.
A night we won't ever forget in Portugal. Where us true supporters believed we would win the tournament, and as day and day went on, we proved those doubters wrong, and made history with this victory and accomplishment. I'll never forget the joy, celebrations, tears, and passion. Somos Portugal! Força! 🇵🇹🙌
I'm so happy I got to experience watching Portugal win the euro cup with my parents and grandparents. What an honour this was for us fans. I'll never forget Eder's goal. He's marked in our history.
Well, how do people wanna see him score when he never has opportunities to play... He should have played more than he did in the Euro, he's a smart player and unselfish.
I remember this match. Ronaldo gets injured in the first minutes, Pepe and Portugal playing a whole defensive game. And then in the extratime Eder comes in refreshing the Portugal team with His notable strenght and presence, the France defenders where visible confused when he jumped to the field. Great moment when he scored.
I could watch this goal over and over again and I’m not even Portuguese. Why ? Because I love seeing France getting done lol. It’s up there with France 1 Bulgaria 2 in 1993 in Paris that stopped them getting to the 94 World Cup 😂😂😂
@@CEPET0 yeah they are that french that they all wear armbands of the countries they were born in lol. The only reason they play for France is because there’s more money in it

Such a beautiful goal! Came out of nowhere. I don't think anyone was expecting Portugal to beat France for the first time at this stage: away, in a Euro Final, CR7 injured after less than 30 minutes & Eder scoring in Extra Time. 😱 Portugal are a great team. 👏🏽
@@davidhuggan6315 He was so shit in every other game I've watched him play live 10+ and has really poor stats for a ST. Absolutely insane he pulled this off ahaha love it.
The story of Eder is quite of a sad struggle. He is a striker with nothing impressive at all. But then he shone just once, and that once-of-a-lifetime moment gave Portugal the first international trophy.
Copa America 2024 looks kinda similar. Lautaro redeemed himself after that terrible World Cup stunt. Messi gave penalty to him to restore his confidence in friendlies before Copa America and Lautaro steps up for Messi and Argentina in said Copa. Lautaro scores in second half of ET to win it for injured Messi.
Sometimes a Martin Tyler commentary can become a snoozefest because he rarely raises his voice but whe he does it's usually accompanied with word plays and mentions of things we otherwise might not notice.
So awesome. This was THE player that everyone regarded as the worst one among both sides. Dude went in woth top motivation, ready to prove everyone that all that matters is on the pitch. And he did! 11 vs 11, credentials are juat credentials. This guy unties the knot on a very combative match. "He doesn't need any help... How about that?" The comenter said it as it is. Just footbal.
it was a sad after story, his club in france hate him, they dropped his game time, hampering his development which also hurts his confidence alot. The club also dont want to sell him so he cant make a move, and his abilty havent been proven enough for other clubs to compensate. This goal ended his overall career, a noteworthy tradeoff
Could you imagine being in a final, your star player gets injured, and then, he tells you that you will score the winning goal. And then you just get a moment, where you have no real reason to hit it, a moment you will most likely look for an alternative... but that is on your mind, and you decide, why not. Let me step on to it, let me steady it, let me have a go!!! And HOW ABOUT THAT?!?
Portuguese players looked at Eder and thought he would be just to try making some useless shots. Yet this man scored his country’s eternal goal. Feel sad for his career though.
This goal as reported by Oswaldo Wehbe ruclips.net/video/10SzRmvtej0/видео.html So beautifully worded, with so much knowledge of Portuguese football history. References to many historical Argentinean players that passed by Portugal. "Portugal campão da europa, claro que sim!".
