    Man, I think I'm overgunned with 180gr out of my 30.06 on whitetails and the odd coyote. Then I see fallow fawns and the odd deer on this challen get dropped by a 9,3x62.
    I must admit that I much prefer to see game drop quick and trim some extra meat/fur, then the current trend amongst some fellow north american hunters who use smaller diameter bullets out to ridiculous distances. Different styles of hunting I know, but it's neat to see the different minsets and approaches.
    Love the channel, keep it up please!

    Nice hunt! We have similar system in Latvia. Collectives get tags based on their territories size and moose density. Tags are split into bulls/cows/calfs. As the damage to forestry mainly is done by calfs, about 50% of the tags are them, 30% cows and 20% bulls. On a bull tag you can take calf as well to reduce damage.

    I think your hunting is fine and i support it and your good shooting. That said its far different than what we do in N America for the most part. Drive hunts and this style really isnt considered hunting out in western states in Rocky mtn states and north. Our hunting is much more physical work and different situation. More of a natural type and we have predation as well. Still i enjoy your method of management as it allows folks who arent mobile to participate. I like that.

      Aaron,
      Thanks for your input. Yes, the way of hunting is very different here in Europe compared to ti the US. We also stalk, as you do, but we use dogs much more and in most parts, we have much less pressure from predators. Even if we have big areas here in Europe that have a very low population, most areas are much denser populated of humans and in general, we do not have public land to hunt as you have in the US. So in general we have much smaller private land areas to hunt, and that also affects the way of hunting.

    Came here after your invitation on Instagram. Thank you! Here in Texas and in several other states in the US we have a huge problem of feral hogs - Texas needs to shoot 3 million a year just to keep the population constant. Unfortunately, we have no tradition of driven hunting. There is perhaps an opportunity for an European entrepreneur to bring battue / Monteria methods to the US. You even get paid $ 12 for every pig shot in some counties. Good hunting!

    "Lucky for me, but not for him," Adam after getting a wild boar that would have eluded him had it not announced its presence by crunching gravel on the road.

      Hi Carlos,
      Waidmannsdank!
      Yes, I still have my syntethic stock in cal. 308win. I got a .375 Ruger for a hunt in Zimbabwe in May, but the COVID-19 situation canceled that hunt and I wanted to use that rifle a little, so I will use it for some driven hunts this year, just for the feeling sake... ;-) A little overkill, but the animals die fast.... :-O However, there is very little meat damage, and I am amazed that the recoil is so "mild" if you can say so. Maybe I will let my 9,3x62 go and use this for the driven hunts instead. Due to our gun laws here in Sweden we can't have so many rifles, so it is good if one rifle can be used for more than one type of hunting.

    • @RedMooseHunting
      @RedMooseHunting 3 года назад

      Yes, there are a lot of opportunities, however, it is not easy anyway. A lot of Swedish hunters dream about shooting a moose and it can take years of effort and dedication to get one. Normally here in the lower 2/3 of Sweden, we can shot 1-3 moose on 1000 ha. It can be a hunting club of 10-20 hunters in such an area. So for a period of 10 years, let's say there is 20 moose shot and 15 hunters every year is hunting. So you still need some luck to get one. ;-)

    Im a hunter up north in Sweden where we can see that the bear-pressure has started to take more and more of our population of moose. I will say that the management of moose is not good in Sweden. The forestry companys has been in charge of this far to long. That is the only reason why we are shooting calfs from mothers. We should stop that now to insure reproduction of moose. Its true that we have a dense population but do we really want it to be smaller?

    • @RedMooseHunting
      @RedMooseHunting 3 года назад

      I can totally agree with you, we need to look into how to adjust the management to compensate for the pressure from predators and in general also evolve in the matter to adjust the forestry so we can keep that dense population of moose we have and still minimize the damage to the forest. As it is now, it goes in the wrong direction in many areas of Sweden.

      I do not know if there is any big secret. Before we did not have so many predators like bear and wolf. In the 1980s, we shot app. 170.000 moose every year. Those days has past. I think it is a good management and hunters mainly hunt for the meat, and is very careful regarding the cows. The cows keep the population up and running.

    Thank you for giving those numbers how many moose you hunt yearly. In Finland we hunt 50000-60000 moose yearly. Our cloven hoof wild game numbers are kept much lower with intensive hunting than you have in Sweden. That's land owners and road users wish. About 80-100000 moose is left alive after each hunting season. After new calfs are born in the spring population is again around 150000.
    I have been watching Jakt är Jakt and Side by Side youtube channels because I try to learn Swedish but they never give these facts how many animals are living in an area and how many are hunted, how long is hunting season and so on. I have never seen a Swedish bow hunter. Is bow hunting forbidden?
    My hunting club has land contracts for 5500 hectares, about 20 members and we have hunt 20-30 moose and about 100 whitetail deer every year. I live in south west coast of Finland and our populations are much higher than average.
