Same with all of them tbh. I just think these old Doom 2 ones fit the old IDKFA tracks much better. The new ones sound phenomenal in their own right but they feel more at home in modern Doom's sound and aesthetic IMO.
"Shawn's Got The Shotgun" -- in this rendition the staccato paired notes of the guitar melody makes it sound just like the "click-clack" of a pump-action. Glorious, sir, hats off to you.
I heard this in Brutal Doom 2: Hell on Earth Starter Pack and Extermination Day at a map called Industrial District! I'm glad this song found its place in the Brutal Doom universe.
This version is quite bad ass. Do you plan on remaking all the doom songs? If so, I would love to make a music wad with just the remake music, if that would be alright.

Thanks to a special program called Slumped and my smarts I was able to put this track along with 1 other of Andrew Hulshult's tracks into the Brutal Doom Metal Soundtrack V4 just by wiping out the versions that we're in there and putting these in there places. It's not that hard if you know what your doing. Congrats Andrew Hulshult for making one of the best tracks here that I've ever heard out of all of them I've heard.
Still remember those damn arachnotrons as the walls collapse behind me, thinking to myself that I won, but then there they are, primed and ready to blast my ass to a pulp.
This is a very interesting remake, I've never heard anything like this before. Although this version is pretty good, it doesn't really feel like Shawn's Got the Shotgun anymore. Instead, you've transformed it into something quite different. Of all the Doom tracks, Shawn's Got the Shotgun has the strongest, most defined "feel" or "spirit" to it IMO - it's a track that doesn't respond well to improvisation. I have yet to find a version of this that 100% captures the feel of pure guitar and percussion only that SGTS just screams IMO. No artist has managed this yet, even though it would really only take simply playing the original melody, unchanged, on a guitar and percussion. Your version is quite simply something completely different - but even if it's nothing like SGTS, it's a very good track nonetheless :) .
I feel the same way. This is definitely a good version, and it sounds like things going to hell (no pun intended), but at the same time, it's a different sort of hell than the original.
And after you have miraculously put them all down, the walls of the room lower to the ground. There is a bunch of arachnotrons with their plasma guns eager for you on the outside. Dead Simple!
Shawn (Shawn Green) is the name of one of the developers of Doom, Bobby Prince, the composer, put in the vast majority of the OST titles a joke/reference of the development

Only issue I have with a lot of covers for this particular track...it's very DRUMS FORWARD in reality. All the impact from this track comes from its percussion, and the habit is to put this guitar front and center, which is incorrect. If you want the same kind of punch this song is supposed to have, the drums kinda have to be the star.

The leaders of the resistance will be Andrew Hulshult and Nemistade!

This Music is originally Slayer's "South of Heaven", you know.
Which means... Hell.
Mick Gordon and Andrew Hulshult will lead us to victory.
