Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another reaction made possible via PATREON with Agnetha Fältskog Reaction "Dance Your Pain Away." I actually like the "A" album because all those elements from the past are there, but with a modern twist. It sounds mature, but not old fashioned. If I had been her producer/songwriter, I would have done the album exactly the same way 👍. I'm happy for her that it became a success. It shows that after 40+ years you can still have the best selling album of your career 😉.

Agnatha is 71 yrs old so I’m not sure she’ll be quite up to tackling the dance floor with as much enthusiasm as you would.
The big single from her album was her duet with Gary Barlow from ‘take that’, who wrote the song for her, and was called ‘I should’ve followed you home’. She made a surprise appearance on the bbc fundraising show ‘children in need’ performing this song. Gary started the song & then introduced her on stage, the crowd went crazy, they all had their phones out trying to get a snap of this wonderful lady.she seemed quite shocked by all the love & adoration coming her way. Gary Barlow & agnetha recorded their parts separately & then they were mixed in the studio. Gary flew to Sweden to do it but agnetha was away at the only time he had free, much to his disappointment but they arranged to meet in London when she came to promote the album. The camera’s followed him & he was so nervous about meeting her as he had studied abba’s music as he is a songwriter himself, which just goes to show that no matter how big a star you are, there are still people that you idolise & look up to & that probably make you starstruck.
When she 1st became open to recording a new album she said that she didn’t want to do it just for the sake of doing it because she is agnetha, she only wanted to do it if her voice was up to it & not if she sounded ‘old’. The 2 guys that wrote most of the songs & produced the album agreed that they felt the same way too.
She had a few singing lessens to to reignite the muscles as she hadn’t sung for a long time, but once she’d done some exercises the old voice came back, albeit a little deeper but with a lot of richness.
I shall try hard to find the documentary in question & send you a link as I’m sure it would interest you very much, it was for the BBC TV so is in mainly in English with subtitles for the boys in swedish

And the ABBA Gold Album were released, I think it was, 1992 the first time.
She used to be a songwriter as well before she became member of the ABBA. She has stated that both Benny Andersson and her then husband Björn Ulvaeus who wrote the songs for the band encouraged her to write for ABBA as well but she did not feel comfortable with the idea. They released their first singles under Angetha & Frida, Björn & Benny moniker.

i didn't discover this song until 2020, but it was exactly what that year needed. so upbeat and unapologetically disco; i think i've played this song at least a hundred times by now.
I’m one of the ‘dancers’ in the video! Not only the top 10 videos were selected, some others were lucky enough too. From memory I was in 20th place, but they still used a couple of clips.
Just goes to show she still has it. Well at least in 2013 she did. I got a lot of hope for the new ABBA stuff coming out. Seems like both girls still got it. Now if only the guy's can hold up their end. Get them all out promoting a little and doing it as a group. Could be the biggest comeback ever.

agnetha NEVER disappoints/ the album this came from was not released in the u.s. and the one before that. not sure why. am sure some dance dj's got ahold of this to play in the clubs but that isnt enough to make it a hit here which is a big disappointment. her biggest fans have followed her since leaving abba and certainly knew about this amazing song.

I didn't find your analysis of the songs from Agnetha Feltskog's album "My Coloring Book", released in 2004. Before that, the singer's last studio album was released in 1987. "My Coloring Book" is Agnetha's fourth album recorded in English. The album consists of old songs that were previously performed by other artists, this is a cover album. It was released with songs that Agnetha chose and that were special to her. Most of these songs were hits in the 50s and 60s.Agnetha is also the producer and arranger of this album. Agneta has a beautiful voice but she's not easy to work with since she doesn't fly, does not want to do PR etc.since she's a typical Swedish who appreciate privacy, something Peter Cetera (from the band Chicago) learnt the hard way after he made an entire album with her in the 80's. She's definetly not a diva but she never wanted international fame, she wanted to be at home and raise her children somewhere secluded and she did. Her anxiety for flying developed after an incident and she suffered badly from experiences in Australia when fans tried to storm fences in order to get close (watch "ABBA the movie"), she truly feared for her life and did not want to keep on touring internationally after that and the music video was born.

This was my favourite as a child, from the same album and really about her addiction to men which I thought was hypocondria😃Don't worry, lyrics in Swedish and very clean and naive, it's about how she keep coming back to the doctor for it but I likedthe sound😉

Agnetha did not do any promotion on this album in the US or Canada :) That is why it could not hit :) The only promotion this album got was You tube for us in North America :) Agnetha will not fly over here over the ocean for 7 hours....She will fly to the UK it is only a 3 hour flight :) Agnetha will never fly over here again she still struggels with air flight ....Had she come to the US and promoted it here it would of hit :) I still say Agnetha is one of the best female singer,s ever ....At 63 years of age she comes back and blows all of us away with this album " A " her very best i think >) Everyone in 2013 was talking about Agnetha and her best for last ..... However she says " she does not know if she will do another album or not " She will not promise a solo album either way .... She might do another solo album but she might not ....We all know ABBA is comming back with new songs this year ....Bjorn and Benny says they will be out this year :) Can,t wait to hear them ...Agnetha blew us out of the water with this album....and it got no promotion in North or South America ...But that is how good Agnetha is she does not need any promotion her name says it all ...

Perhaps you might also want to try one of her earlier songs like Jag Var Sa Kar (a song she wrote at 15, later recorded and it was a number 1 hit in Sweden some years before Abba) or her Swedish version of Abba's SOS or Disillusion the only song she wrote and recorded with Abba?

Liked this track a lot, loathed the crappy fan video. Agnetha promoted 'A' more probably more than any of her other solo albums outside Sweden, even travelling to London, but obvously couldn't be bothered to make more than one official video for the 2013 albums songs. The horrible video was a record company objective asking fans to submit videos they could use to make a promo for the track....didnt work very well. You should try listening to the atmospheric 'Bubble' from the same album.

Great song but a terrible video with the usual suspects popping up again and again. A missed opportunity really. The song deserved a better video featuring Agnetha herself (perhaps as a shadowy diva like Dusty Springfield with shades of Cher in 'Believe').

I knew that Frida had a few solo titles, but I didn't know it was also the case for Agnetha. Besides, to be completely honest I didn't even know she was called Agnetha Fältskog. :)))
A good sound anyway, very well arranged. I don't think that this title has turned on the French radios (in all case it wasn't ranked in French charts. But there's long time I don't listen to radios anymore, so maybe I'm wrong, but it not seems to me). Still, it could have worked. It's well done and well sung.
There are 3 Post-ABBA Frida abums (2 in English 1 in Swedish) and 5 Post-ABBA Agnetha Albums (all in English). There are 4 Pre-ABBA Agnetha albums in Swedish and 1 Pre-ABBA Frida album (plus many singles and a few compilations). The last solo albums by the girls before the resumed their solo careers in 82/83 were both recorded in 1975 and largely adhere to the ABBA recording principles. Agnetha also recorded a christmas album with her daughter and a childrens songs album with her son. "A" reached Number 6 in the UK and to date is the last released recording by Agnetha, Frida's last recording was released in 2018 when she sang on a spanish cover of ABBA's 'Andante Andante' for trumpeter Arthuro Sandovals album.

In fact, as in all countries of Europe (or elsewhere) my ear isn't trained from childhood to listen to many foreign languages. There are of course (for Europe) "dominant" languages such as English, Spanish, Italian, French, German that we're a little more used to hearing. (I've classified them by what seems to me to be their order of influence across Europe and the World). The other languages like Swedish are very little heard and widespread. Our ear isn't used to it. I think we should initiate people from childhood to hear other languages. The song is a very good vector, it seems to me, especially with children, who, unlike adults, have no preconceptions.
I also think that Frida came to France several times to present her songs or to present duets (like with D. Balavoine for example). But I think to know that Agnetha was terrified of flying (take the plane to travel) and rarely left Sweden because of it.
This is perhaps also I think the reason why the French media took little interest in her, while they contributed much more to making Frida known in France.
Agnetha voice is not like that it's bin lifted with synthesizers. You can hear it so vividly, and her voice is so soft, actually far to soft for this type of song. This type of song would suit Fridas voice, she has more of a stronger voice just saying guys and that's my opinion☺
I agree. I think Frida's voice has held up better than Agnetha's. I also think it has been helped a little too. Still sounds good though!

I have always thought this song was about Agnetha telling her friend to use dancing as a way of dealing with the discovery of her boyfriend cheating on her after she caught him in the bathroom with another woman.
