They were all super young and naive in the earlier seasons. For example Debbie worshipped the ground he walked on in the earlier season but you can see as the seasons go on she loses more and more respect for him. Let’s not forget how much he did to them in the course of all 11 seasons. He called DCFS on Fiona, he didn’t show up for Carl when he was about to be kicked out of school, he ruined Fiona’s wedding, he hit Ian multiple times, and he tried to choke Debbie. All of that made what little respect they had for him go bye bye.

Freckles are not forever, they almost always disappear by age, still have freckles only they are smaller and less visible.
