    Thanks for sharing. Last week (due to your influence and a fine teacher), I went out and bought a Paul Mauriat PMB 300UL, I'm getting it next week, it's on order from a music store in Ontario Canada, I can't play well, I'm still a novice but I like the sound of the bari, I had an alto, bad experience, bad teachers, never liked it and put it away forever, but when I discovered you, I found a new love for the sax and music. I'm all in this time. Thank you. I'll send a photo when I can. Thanks for reading me.

      Good luck Paddy. What a nice story. I also had a quite intermediate teacher, though I still play the sax, and now I got a fantastic teacher for my 9 years old son. I just need to get him to practice more.

    Looking forward for your Tenor setup. I've got the Scott Paddock Tenor SYOS mouthpiece 6 opening, and it's great. My sax is a Henri Selmer Paris SA-80 2nd edition (silver plated).

    Mr. Scott Paddock, I’m so glad I stumbled across your channel and really happy to hear that you’re from MD as I am too!
    I’ve been out of playing the alto sax for over 20 years and I’m looking to get back into playing it. I currently have a Yamaha YAS-23 I purchased new in 2000, tinkered with it here and there. I’ve been struggling to find a teacher and after checking out your videos and website I think we might be a good fit. I’ll be signing up for your monthly school and giving you a try. Stay safe and I look forward to relearning the saxophone with you.. Darryl

    I played a P Mauriat 67R with Cognac Laquer in a local store today. Love the finish and the Greeny blue keys. I was blown away at how good it sounded and I really want to get it. Made me realise how my own Sax is making a much harded job to play. I have a student model at present a Trevor James "The Horn, Revolution II".

      Yeah, the right horn can make a world of difference. Those 67Rs are great looking horns!

    Hi Scott what's up? i would like to ask you about which reverb pedal do you use for the wireless mic for gigs? and what pedal do you advise? Thanks best regards.

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  Год назад +1

      Hi, I don't use a reverb pedal on gigs or recordings. Most PA systems have reverb built in, so the sound guy adjusts it according the room. On my recordings, I add medium room digital reverb at 12%.

    • @banderassax

      @@ScottPaddock thanks bro but usually not all djs know this in gigs most saxophonist they have their own Pedals to adjust their own sound especially in gigs like improvising with a dj not recordings or in bands this is what I mean just I want to know what kind or brand do you advice me to buy for saxophone?

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  Год назад +1

      @@banderassax Ahhh! If you are playing with a DJ, then you are in charge of your own sound, and using pedals is pretty common. I use the Digitech Polara in my pedalboard setup. It's pretty simple to get set up, and it sounds great. If you already use pedals you're good to go! If not, you'll need to watch some videos on how to get your saxophone in and out of the pedal before going that route.

    I find it very hard to believe a ligature has any influence on the sound.

    • @ScottPaddock
      @ScottPaddock  3 года назад

      I've had that on my video list for a while. I'll bump it up and do play tests of several ligatures. For me, it makes a big difference. Especially going from a leather one to a metal one. I've seen other sax players do similar comparisons and they don't really feel much of a difference.

    • @ryanryan6207
      @ryanryan6207 3 года назад

      @@ScottPaddock, that would be interesting. I recall a video from Jay Metcalf saying they don’t make a difference. I have a lot of respect for both of you so it’s a little confusing. I use the same ligature as you but that’s because my reed doesn’t move. I haven’t noticed a difference in sound but I’m far from professional.
