@@justcandace5701 It's not the Benzos causing it. A lot of Docs prescribe benzos to help with tinnitus. Exposure to loud sounds, Depression, stress and anxiety can cause tinnitus to worsen if you already have it or cause it itself. Do you take Buspar or Buspirone? That can also cause tinnitus

    • @danielk0106
      @danielk0106 5 лет назад +11

Doctor dropped my Buspar down to 2.5 MG a day so we will see. I was taking 15mg to start 3x5mg daily then went to 10mg 2x5mg daily then to 5mg daily. I take .25 xanax in the morning and one .25 at bed time to help me fall asleep with the tinnitus.
I just have to pray my anxiety doesn't return. He said if this doesn't stop or ease the tinnitus he will try something else. Told him I refuse to take 90% of any anti-depressant because of the side effects. Paxil made me feel like I was going crazy and then I had suicidal thoughts but never acted on them. I just threw the pills in the trash and said NO MORE.
I think my tinnitus is the cause of my anxiety and mild depression instead of my anxiety and mild depression causing the tinnitus. Reading on tinnitus it can cause those symptoms.

My only wish is to hear what silence feels like.... 🥺🥺

    • @pixelguy9922
      @pixelguy9922 4 года назад +1023

I got some solace from realizing that the "silence" I've lost never existed in the first place. If your tinnitus disappeared completely, you still wouldn't have "quiet", you would simply have "quieter". Anyone with perfect hearing with no tinnitus still won't hear "silence" when they plug their ears. They still hear the constant inner sounds of the body, bloodflow, etc. They just don't think of it.
The only real difference is how one emotionally reacts to the sounds. Sure, my tinnitus noise is louder than what non-tinnitus people hear when they try to sleep for instance; but when you realize that curing your tinnitus would simply mean "quieter" instead of "quiet", you can start the process of getting better.
Because there is no tinnitus cure that will take away your tinnitus completely. But there are methods that can relieve and improve the tinnitus symtoms (making your tinnitus quieter), like meditation, habitation, mindset, etc. And while some people might say that improving the symptom isn't a cure since it doesn't bring you "silence", I'd say that it's pretty darn close considering a real cure wouldn't bring you "silence" either. You never had silence, no one have. There's only more or less of it. So with that in mind; what's the difference between someone WITHOUT tinnitus not thinking about the noises they hear, and someone WITH tinnitus not thinking about the noises they hear?
That's the way I see it anyhow, and it helps me cope and improve. Positive thoughts!

I’ve had tinnitus for about 8 years after playing to high music in music school. The first two years was absolutely a nightmare, with a lot of anxiety and fear of being exposed to any kind of sounds. I even had earplugs when vacuum cleaning, going by airplane or if anyone spoke to loud.
Now, I’ve studied nurse for 3 years, working in hospital for 5 years and finally started medicine studies to become a doctor. For you out there with tinnitus as me, I can tell you that it will become better. Not the sound itself, but to be able to live with it. I don’t care anymore of this sound that I always hear, and you are all able to also not care. You just have to find your own path to this.
However, what I didn’t knew before and what I wished that I knew, is that certain things will make the tinnitus worse for a short amount of time, such as alcohol, medication such as ASA (acetyl salicylic acid), ibuprofen and other NSAID (non steroid anti inflammatory drugs). But just for a few hours or so. Also having the cold seriously mess up my ears. All this is however reversible (which I didn’t knew from start), and can literally make every one with tinnitus shit their pants wondering why it now became worse.
I take NSAID on a monthly basis, because of migraines or if I have a bad hungover etc, (because for me paracetamol does not simply work). Paracetamol does not mess up your ears at all, just so you know.
My tinnitus becomes 2 times worse when taking this medication (ibuprofen or ASA), and I’m a lot more sensitive for sound for a few hours. But it is all reversible.
About research I’ve studied a lot of “new” papers regarding tinnitus. It all comes down to a brain damage, not really a broken ear as many of us has thought before. Research has proven that people with tinnitus has a continuous open ion gate in our brain that is initiated for every person when we here a sound, but for us it is hyperactive all day long. The latest thing I read was about continually open sodium gates in our brain that activates this tinnitus sound. New medication has proven to be successful for not yet closing, but lowering this ion channels and hence reducing the “imaginary” annoying beep we always here. Unfortunately not yet without side effects or with to good results. But we are in an early state of research, and we learn more every day. As a medicine student, my hopes are very high for not only a temporary relief such as this video might provide, but an actual treatment.
So please tinnitus people, keep your head high and don’t let your hope down. We will be able to listen to the worlds beauty just as we did a couple of years ago again.

I’ve had Tinnitus for almost 14 years. It rocked me to the core for about 3 weeks, and then I saw the ENT specialist and he told me I had it and there’s no cure. I got on with it from that day forward. Sleeping well, not too much caffeine and limit salt will keep it at bay to some or a large extent - alcohol calms it down but when the alcohol wears off it can come back with a vengeance. There are days when it’s annoying but manageable, and others I don’t notice it at all - it gets better and you can deal with it and have a normal life - remember that ! Hope this helps us all to an even better level !

I have had tinnitus since 2019 til present. I plug my ears with cotton while I am at work or just out and about. Loud noises hurt my ear. It's in my right ear. Sounds like a cricket chirping but higher pitched. Tinnitus is actually a brain thing. Not an ear thing. You notice more cuz you are searching for the sound. Mine gets louder when I am stressed or really tired. I use a big fan at night to focus on, to drown out the tinnitus. I use this video every night for atleast an hour. I have noticed that the frequency and how long my ear rings for, has diminished. Thank You for this. It is a life changer that gives me some relief. Anyone who has tinnitus, Stay Strong. A few months ago i have had an ear-infection which resulted in to sudden deafness on the right side. My hearing dropped to about 50% after auditory test.
This went on for a few weeks and after my hearing came back i started hearing a high-pitched tone.
This tone was constant for months and i was afraid i was going to live with this forever, but now.... 4 months later the tone is completely gone.

I used to work as a Videographer and filmed live bands playing sets at music festivals. I never used to wear ear protection, because I was young, dumb and thought I was invincible.
This is the biggest regret of my life.
I’ve been living with an intense ringing, two separate high frequencies (one in each ear) constantly all day.
Sometimes, about once a week, I’ll awaken for no reason at around 3/4am and won’t be able to get back to sleep because I’m so aware of the ringing noise.
I really think all of us tinnitus sufferers should put together our own fund to give a budget to some young talented researchers/doctors who can do more extensive tests and try to discover a treatment faster.
There are millions of us, and I know that I’d be willing to donate monthly to this research.
Let’s actually get something done about this.

It's called RI Residual Inhibition. I found that if I play a harpsichord for a few minutes the tinnitus ringing stops for several hours - blessed relief when having suffered 8000hz whistle at 65dB in both ears 24/7 since 1993 when noise damage messed up my cochlea hair-cells. Now I play early music Telemann flute concerto to get to sleep and it works beautifully - without that I'd go nuts. Not sure if this recording does inhibit the tinnitus - but you know there is no cure. Well, not yet but I may not live long enough to experience a cure if they ever find one.

I wanna share my story, even if no one reads it. Im in the third year having tinnitus in both ears and my head. Its the worst period of my life since last summer where tinnitus from my one ear became suddenly worse and i had many panic attacks rejecting the reality i had to deal with, after that i had even more weird things with my ears, like feeling my ears heavy or pressured or sometimes like i have tv signals next in my ears. I still have many Panic Attacks and i lose my mind everytime i feel or deal with something new. i feel prisoned in my own self and problem and fear. I dont know how i can go on like that always being stressed and in fear and in panic.i dont like my life. I see many people here dealing with their own problem but i cant find any strenght anywhere. Hi from France, sometimes tinnitus are so presents from 6 years that I look for a lot of solutions. I know what is the reason of them and I have tried many and many things. The one I suggest you is meditation, it deconnect your brain from the suffering reality and help your spirit to raise an other dimension, put your attention on your breathing and it will help you to find calm and then to escape of your fixation.

For me they appears after stopping medecines I took many years for depression, but I accept the consequences of my decision, so like today my head is Hiroshima, but I keep on and accept my suffering. Drugs, medecines, loud music often leave pains on brain and tinnitus are consequences we have to learn how to leave with them.

    • @merlethe
      @merlethe 7 лет назад +7

I've had a few minutes of silence before I ever tried any of these though. this is the first one I am trying, today. One year later and I'm starting to get to the bottom of it. The room where I lived when it went quiet had overly high humidity cos it was a small downstairs flat and my washing had to get dried in there. Now I'm in a very large, top floor, dry flat with lots of heat from light shining through 6 velux windows! In the warm weather and warm flat my tinnitus has got worse. I only recently figured out I have ETD because even an ENT doctor couldn't be bothered to get to a diagnosis. Steam might be helping, but I think I need quite a long time of higher humidity to make much difference. I'm also wearing a pollution mask when out on my bike. It's funny though cos even when my T is louder it doesn't feel like my ears are significantly stuffier.. I never thought about it before but before I got this I remember only occasionally my ear would feel a bit funny and I would hear a whine. The whine would vanish once pressure normalised. But I've had the mildest T ever since I was 11 and I had an ear infection, I think. I would only hear it a little when going to sleep, and I used to call it 'the sound of a quiet room'. I didn't know it was subjective. Once I began drinking coffee it was more annoying but I thought it was just the sound of my wired brain!

Tinnitus changed my life for the better.
It all started when I had to quit my dream job (club DJ)
and after 2 weeks of not doing much I went into YOLO mode.
I began to do everything that scared me, (traveling by car, going to asia, hitchhikin, going to a rainbow gathering, traveling without a phone, etc.)
It changed my perspective on life that I had to make the best of it while I still had what health and sanity I had left.
ANNNND I found that meditation was highly beneficial for tinnitus and life in general.
A daily practice of breath meditation was all it took to significantly reduce stress surrounding my tinnitus.
And with Vipassana meditation it literally became a non-issue, (aside from loud noise avoidance)
Well, 7 years in I had just had another spike, and I decided to stop being so cautious about loud sounds.
The results were pretty negative, I then got another spike and tinnitus became an issue for me after 5.5 years of total peace with it.
But its taught me life is a journey, and we have to lean into what scares us.
I no longer spend time wishing for the T to go away, I just wish to keep learning from life and meeting new discoveries

Very good my man. As a Psychologist and tinitus survivor, this is a most welcome tool. The background hiss matches most people's internal frequency thus bringing the noise from inside ones head, to the outside. Now you might think that noise is noise but not so. We are able to deal with external noises much better as the brain can isolate the noise to a specific object making it much more tolerable. The multi frequency tones do a good job of breaking down that fixation on that monotone hiss. Most of this perception of noise has to do with stress response. Lack of sleep and/ or stress will ramp things up nicely. Your efforts provide a break from the created cycle especially if used at night time to get some welcome sleep. This has worked better for me than numerous other masking attempts as the hiss matches perfectly with my beloved T. It should give you overwhelming intrinsic satisfaction my friend that your efforts helped your fellow man. Your creation has made a difference and more importantly, you did it for altruistic reasons as opposed to seeking monetary gain. Without sounding condescending, I'm proud of you and hope there are more and more like you in the world. Thanks again.

Very well said and explained. I have had chronic Lyme disease and co-infections for about 10 years now and always thought my T was a symptom. I say this because my herxheimer reaction to the die-off and my T seems to follow the Moon cycle. My T drives me "batty" during a full Moon ; ) Sorry but if I couldn't laugh, I'd cry. Also, both ears get VERY HOT AND RED during my T flare ups. Anyone else? This makes me think it's blood pressure related as Buzar mentioned above, This soundtrack is pretty amazing as the background "cicada" noise is exactly the same as my T. In fact, I thought it wasn't working as I was still hearing my T with my ear buds on. But it was really the track as it stopped when I took off the buds!!

First of all thank you so much. I was desperate, it really was a blessing to find this.
Second of all, to all of you who did not read.. it is VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS:
"Please use headphones for optimal effect. Firstly keep the volume at the level where it seems to be matching your tinnitus then take a minute or two before lowering the volume a bit and keep going until your tinnitus is gone."
I started with it at a too high volume and it mine got worse, then I read it and it started slowly working.
To all of you out there with this condition, hope you get well soon.

I used to come to this video every night when I first got tinnitus. That was a little over 2 years ago. I don't know what made me come back to it right now, guess it was just curiosity. But anyways, for anyone who is just learning how to cope with it IT GETS EASIER, when I first got it I felt incredibly depressed, kept thinking "I will never experience true silence again" I was in a miserable mindset. But hear me out, that will fade, the sound might always be there, but you'll eventually get better at blocking it out. I only really notice it if I A) think about it too much and focus on it or B) in a really quiet environment. Just remember that you're not alone, stay strong, don't let this eat you up. You can still experience the rest life has to offer. It gets easier

My tinnitus started years ago as a deaf buzzing; sometimes it’s hard to deal with it, sometimes not. And it comes in different ways and sounds for me. I have hyperacusia too. So, it’s a mess 😂.
But things like this help me very, very much. This, together with magnesio, vitamin B, Vitamin D, gingko biloba and melatonin. That, meditation, loving people around and hearing this.
Dear people: if we are brave and disciplined , stay away from hard noises and focus it as an integral thing, it gets better.

Tysm, I'm having so many spikes with my tinnitus right now. It sounds higher than before and after a couple of seconds it's gone and it comes back. It's annoying and kinda painful but I hope it'll stop soon 😅😣

I’m a 73 year old lady and have had tinnitus for 63 years since the age of 10. All my life I have been told there’s nothing anyone can help but no one has even tried to offer a masking device of some sort.
I pray every night that before I pass I can have just one night of silence without achieving it by going deaf.

I have dealt with this beast for as long as I can remember, but in the last six months or so it has gotten BAD. I can no longer mask it and it's causing major anxiety. Stumbled across this and thought I'd give it a try. So nice to see so many supportive comments in the comment section.

Keep strong! It's been about a year and a half for me. Did not listen to this since february 2020, came back today. It's helping. I guess that's kind a cycle, sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse because a lot of factors (anxiety, mood, depression, how much sun/vitamin d), but the most important it's to keep strong, miles ahead, always remembering the good things of life.

My anxiety is very bad with tinnitus especially when I have a flare up of it and it becomes louder than usual it even makes me feel like I have depersonalisation I suffer with that too. I'm coming up on 20 years with severe tinnitus. Been a few ups and downs for sure. It recently doubled in volume and I went searching for tinnitus masking on RUclips and found this video after trying like a hundred others. It has been awesome. I sometimes play it when I'm awake at night, I use it at the office during the day (right now in fact), I have it on my phone. For me, it literally cancels my tinnitus when played at the proper volume. My wife calls it "the birds." Anyway, thanks so much for the great free product. I'm grateful.

I have got to the stage where I have to have some form of this playing all the time now, no matter what I am doing or where I am. Had mine for 6 ish years and never thought it would get as loud as it is now. Last 3 months, gone to a loudness I didnt think I would ever have got to. Oh to go back to when I first got it and thought that was bad. I would never complain again if I could have it back to when I first got it and it only sounded like escaping gas!
      G'luck.

I just went through a huge tinnitus spike, it's slowly ramping down.. 27 years tinnitus now.. Ups and downs... at times it seems like it hasn't even been there! Last spike I had, I ran this video all the time and it helped train my brain for forget about it. A year later, back in the throes of another spike.. this one has the cicada sounds for some reason..
