Great Video... Thanks. I have found on occasion, attempting to reproduce an iconic shot can be a great learning experience. Often you can get a detailed explanation how the shot was taken. There is some kinda magic in reproducing a great composition and achieving a similar look combining in camera and post technique. Great way to sharpen your skills to launch yourself in a particular direction. Anyhow, keep it coming J. We're watching and learning....
Great video Jay and great job vlogging with all of those people around. I couldn't do that. So many great shots of that amazing modern architecture there in Chicago but the big winner for me was the one at 3:08 - such an unusual looking building and an amazing shot of it. And I agree the Trump International is a cool looking building. Great shot looking down the train tracks! Really enjoyed it!
Thanks for watching, buddy, and thanks for the kind words. Are used to hate flagging when other people were around but for some reason I’ve gotten used to it. I guess doing it in cities, you really can’t avoid it.
Thank you so much for sharing the vlog! My family had a good laugh at my jumping. It was so nice meeting you. Your photography is stunning and it's so cool to see your thought process with all this behind the scene footage.
Hi Jay, I know a tripod is more ideal but have you considered a Platypod? I’ve used one in London without any hassle from the tripod police, they don’t add much extra weight and you can strap them to railings etc in areas where tripods aren’t allowed. They’re great for low down shots obviously, I don’t have a flip screen so connect my camera to my phone to compose and focus when it’s on the ground or other awkward places. Great video by the way.
Great vlog Jay! Loved seeing the city of Chicago. Some great buildings and viewpoints. I share your passion for fine art architectural photography as you may remember. I'm often told about not using a tripod here in the UK, so bought myself a Manfroto super clamp. It's a useful addition to the gear in your backpack and helps with the long exposures when there are railings, fences, posts etc.
Absolutely loved this Jay, never seen a video from Chicago before and definitely looks like my kind of city. The images were fabulous but that 3rd one really was a banger, the edit was superb. Must admit I would be sorely tempted to clone out those 5 big letters on the side of the "International Hotel" 😬
Yea. I live and work in NJ but my city is NYC. Photography is a massive hobby for me. I’m an attorney and take my gear everywhere I go and have prowled Chicago in the early morning before chairing and speaking at legal conferences in many of the same spots you did. I really enjoy your videos and love your new in home studio. Good for you!
Doesn’t suit every subject, but you can combine multiple shorter exposures and combine them using the median facility in photoshop. Having said that, your images looked great 👍. Well done again
I used to love to go to the city of Chicago but mayor Lightfoot and Kim Fox have turned it into a war zone. Unfortunately no one is safe anywhere at any time. Maybe one day it'll be a great place to visit again. But for now it's a definite stay away Zone!
Beautiful work, JC. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks so much!!
Some cracking images there Jay, some very interesting perspectives , great job
Thanks so much Colin!
Thoroughly enjoyed… was involved in the structural design of the new Apple store just up the river.Really cool area.
Thanks so much! I heard the Apple store is beautifully done!
This video reveals what a photographer can go through. Getting the composition can take a lot of thought and calculations.
I like the streaky clouds.
I felt like I was there with you! Wonderful images!
Excellent JC. I like your videos and the photography es very pro! go ahead that I´m still learning with you

Totally agree with you. It is very true when it comes to studio lighting as well.
Man, awesome shots Jay!! Such a beautiful city and you showcased it well!! Makes me want to go back!
Thanks so much Barry!
Even with all the challenges you encountered there Jay your images came out quite amazing.
Thanks so much Rich!

I actually use a Joby Gorilla pod for my vlogging camera. I have used it with my DSLR in a pinch but I usually want the camera to be higher.
Excellent Jay you have a new sub. 💯📸
Thanks Andy! Do you post on IG? Would love to see your work.
Great instruction and teaching, JC! What tripod legs are you using?

Thanks Jim! Yes, I admit I thought about doing some cloning to that image!
Our lives are so similar.
Are you NY based?

Great tip Chris. I have done it with landscape shots where I use long exposure for the water and a shorter one for a great sky.
Jay, during your processing, many time you create a new layer using Contol + Shift + Alt + E. How do you know when to do that?
I used to love to go to the city of Chicago but mayor Lightfoot and Kim Fox have turned it into a war zone. Unfortunately no one is safe anywhere at any time. Maybe one day it'll be a great place to visit again. But for now it's a definite stay away Zone!
You don’t like Trump. Big deal. Otherwise liked the vlog.
Thanks for watching!
