  • Robyn is a microgrower in MA. She took The Tulip Workshop to maximize her indoor growing space where she was able to grow over 5000 stems this winter. Without a website or a traditional sales outlet, she was able to move a majority of these stems through pop ups! We talk in detail about how she approaches pop ups, realistic expectations and how a "hustle" mentality has led to a successful second season.
I loved this conversation because Robyn has stayed true to herself - she leans into her strengths and does what works for HER. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I enjoyed interviewing Robyn.

💐 Looking for a reliable, rugged and refined focal that you can succession plant throughout the entire season? You need lilies! I'm selling 25x and 50x increments on bit.ly/44s6v4o - We've got roselilies, non fragrant lilies, and double non fragrant lilies for multiple weeks.

Right?! I think so many people are at a stage where they could totally not have to commit to something like a market or CSA and be like Robyn where a pop up gives them so much more flexibility (and fun)!

Rockin’ Robyn! Enthusiasm is a great sales strategy. Sounds like it comes naturally for you. I use a pop-up like technique selling wholesale to florists. Doesn’t always work, but I don’t have time to always announce my arrival. Having flexibility also alleviates stress. Never had a website for 27 years now. Several times I have saved a florist by popping in the shop with just what they were looking for!

Bucket run approach! That's awesome that it works. And to your point, plenty of people have been able to run great businesses without a website- sometimes it just takes someone putting it out there for the rest of the world to realize this too. It's not one size fits all!

Yay! I totally hear you. I think there are so many of us who have no desire to take this completely full time (myself included) but want to still have a profitable side hustle that can provide some decent cashflow. I love Robyn and her "get it" mentality while breaking the mold of what businesses "should have" to be "successful". So aspirational!

This is so great! As a first yr flower farmer I don't know which flowers I will be successful at growing or not. So pre orders?? But this would be an option( I've got one farm store partnered) Really good information QR codes, tools to bring, setting boundaries and being flexible. YESSS to pockets!! Thank you Jess for bringing us Robyn and her vibrance.

Hi! Growing in year one can be so challenging to churn out consistent quality stems and is exactly the reason why I struggled at a farmers market. I had to buy stems from a local grower. Pre orders could potentially work but you’d still need to know roughly when you’ll have stems. Hopefully you feel you have more options after hearing from Robyn ☺️

@bareflowerfarm awesome! I still think all sides Business is where we creative get stuck. I think all kinds of small businesses would benefit from following your lead on this. Our record keeping stinks, we hate ads, all the not fun stuff we put off bc we're a one woman show and we get tired 😆😄 I'd also be interested in how to direct wholesaler buyers to a more professional means of doing business than just a FB message. Like how do we set that up within our retail website? 🌷💗

Hi Karen, I can’t speak for Robyn but absolutely. There are a few advantages including write offs and protecting your personal assets in event of a lawsuit. The best advice is from a lawyer but here is a short video to explain some more ruclips.net/video/SRgzYbV_YVk/видео.htmlsi=OdWi6bQNbPO5MVTn
