From what I've heard, the writers designed Frozen Empire to feel like a feature-length Real Ghostbusters episode. That feels like a next logical step for the franchise, given its impact on the material.
What does that mean
Makes sense judging from the reviews. I think people are overly critical for silly reasons. Was it fun, yes, did they bust ghosts, yes, then you'll be happy. End of the day.. the OG Ghostbusters are being sunset. They need to make the next two movies a two-part film. Give the OG GB their own film, then give the new GB their own film.. bring them all together in a 5th film. Then end it.

I think Dan Aykroyd should try to convince Sony to make his Hellbent Script.. just the guys. Make it grungy and dark... not sure what to do beyond that

When it’s a positive review all the people in the comments loved the movie but when it’s a negative review everyone in the comments hated it
Not the case for me. I like to criticize movies constructively. Even franchises I’m passionate about like ghostbusters. If there’s something wrong I’ll call it out. I’d say the main problem with the film so far is that it’s too many characters. Even the poster was overstuffed.

Not for me I watch and judge with my own eyes and form my own opinion films with good reviews I have usually thought were a pile of 💩💩💩💩whereas negative reviewed stuff I have a good time

Frozen Empire was a creative fun Ghostbusters movie and that's what it's supposed to be. It showed us more of the Spangler family and their dynamics as well as much more of the fire house and how the GB company has grown. It was a great first step into the next generation of Ghostbusters. It sets up an exciting lead into another movie or steaming series. Over all 8/10
Preach! I thought the film was very enjoyable
The only thing believable is the girl besides the real ghostbusters. The dad and mom don't add anything and Fin didn't do much in this film. I thought afterlife was a better film.
I’m a big fan of Ghostbusters and I’m only 20. Stoked to see it in T - 11 hours! I’ve got my iSense ticket booked, my cup & drink ordered PLUS they’re giving away free badges!
Just walked out of the theater, I found it to be harmless fun with some good emotional moments.
Could’ve used some more focus on the characters like its predecessor and could’ve trimmed down certain parts but as you pointed out I think it was perfectly fine to focus more on the day to day routine of the ghostbusters team and further expanding on the lore since we haven’t really seen that in movies until now.
If I were to grade it I’d give it an 8/10.

Yeah I'm kind of confused by some of the anger it's generating. I get (and agree with) some of the criticisms, but there's some vitriol towards it I don't get.
Why did grunge era Sean keep popping up?
I think he didn’t record footage of it and just recorded the voice stuff. Like he thought about putting it in the video but didn’t want to record more footage

Paul Rudd is elite casting for Ghostbusters
I’m looking forward to this one tomorrow. I know me and my dad will at least have a good time with it, and I’m just expecting some good Ghostbusters fun :)
Felt like there was too many plot points (some being incredibly ridiculous)and characters but the original cast and the humor put a smile on my face
I enjoyed and was happy to see Slimer back
I haven't seen it yet so can't comment on the film but I'm so happy to see James Acaster in a massive Hollywood part, he deserves it.

I heard that Ivan Reitman read the script for frozen empire before he passed away and really liked it. So that may be a reason why they just went ahead and went in with the script they had.

It seems pretty unanimous that Ghostbusters Fans really enjoyed this film. Also remember GB2 has 55% on RT and GB (2016) is 74%. Tells you all you need to know.

Lucky has got to be the most useless ghostbuster. In afterlife she was basically just a love interest for trevor, and magically learns how to use a proton pack on the fly. Finn Wolfhard is just here to bring in the stranger things crowd. They really couldn't write them a decent arc this time around?
As a fan of the original duology I felt it's heart was in the right place but was unfocused. I enjoyed the worldbuilding, OG characters and overall look of the movie. I would recommend.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire was a fantastic movie. I loved it! This movie has been getting some undeserved hate from critics and I would like to speak out on that.
I don’t think that any so-called “Film Critic” should review a movie based on their own expectations and what they think it should be. If they think they can make a better movie, then by all means, go ahead because they sure can’t make a good film review video or write a decent article.
At the end of the day, this is Ghostbusters. It’s a film that shouldn’t be taken too seriously and should be enjoyed as it was intended. These films are made for their target audiences, but there is plenty of room for everyday movie goers to enjoy it too. I personally saw the film with a jam-packed theater. There were laughs, smiles, and fun times all around. At the end, people actually stood up, clapped, and enjoyed the experience. Isn’t that what a “Good” movie is supposed to do?
Don’t listen to any critic that throws hate at Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. They are wrong, and their false words should not deter you from seeing this extraordinary film. Is it perfect? No. But it’s damn good!
love the fan and casual movie reactions, they seem to agree. Not flawless but still an amazing ecto ride. critics ranking it lower then madame web, i can't believe that.

The first 2 reviews that I read were very negative, but I'm glad to hear some positive comments about this and I think I'm going to go see it. I grew up in the 80s on the original movies and cartoon and I can't believe it took so long to bring this franchise back! I hadn't heard about Ivan Reitman's passing; RIP to a legendary filmmaker.
I saw it. It's not good. I found it dull and stuffed with dull characters Nd over inflated plot. Terribly boring. The other reviews are on point, it's trash.

I was 12 years old in 2001, when I saw Ghostbusters 1 & 2 in cable tv. Back in 2001 my family didn't have internet and lots of people watched tv, they recycled mostly movies in tv from 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. I'm looking forward to see Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Ghostbusters deserved better
My biggest issue with Frozen Empire is that we feel the absence of Dr. Egon Spengler's character throughout the film every scene does feel like what, would Egon do? So Frozen Empire ends up as a mess with too many subplots, as every character in the film feels rather aimless. While in Afterlife Egon's character still guides us throughout the film to set up the most wonderful tribute to the late Harold Ramis.
Ghostbusters fans excited for ghostbusters? Star Wars fans need to pay attention to that attitude.

Well, I loved it despite small weaknesses. A perfect movie without critical comments is impossible. I unterstand every single point but I am convinced by nearly everything. It's a fantastic blast.
I really dug seeing the OG’s again. Ray seemed to have the most to do.
I really thought they did Afterlife really well and Frozen Empire is one of my 3 highly anticipated movies this year.

I saw it last night in IMAX and thoroughly enjoyed it! I think the movie is a little all over the place but honestly I don't mind it, especially for this type of film. The cast (old and new) all did excellent as well. Newcomer Kumail Ali Nanjiana did AMAZING!!! The whole theater erupted with laughter every time the dude was on the screen he absolutely killed it. One subplot didn't work me though (if you've seen the film, you'll most likely know what I'm talking about) but even then I didn't HATE it. It just didn't work for me and felt odd. Besides that though, the movie was fun and made me laugh all the way through and that's honestly all you need from this type of film. The legacy characters were treated with respect as well so that made happy. Btw the ghosts/ghost designs were awesome and actually looked creepy which I loved 👌
My local theater has sold out shows. My son and I loved it. I loved the cameos and call backs to the 1980’s. Folks are way too hyper picky.

Enjoyed your review. Thought the movie was great! It was great having more vital roles for Dan and Ernie. Kumail added a nice element. Too many characters for sure. It felt a bit crowded. The characters of Finn Wolfhard and JamesAcaster seemed under utilized. Lots of great elements and a fun ride for sure!

@SeanChandlerTalksAbout I’m just curious, as I saw this particular ghost is back in Frozen Empire but, with any of your younger children did you have to ever cover their eyes or have them cover their eyes for the library ghost sequence in the 1984 original?
The only reason I asked out of curiosity is when I saw the movie for the first time on a family road trip in our van my dad said that one sequence he wanted my brother and I who was younger than me at the time and still is to close our eyes at that are, I didn’t see why at first but once I was a little bit older and saw the sequence I understood why.
Any other Ghostbusters fans of the 1984 original classic have that same experience I did with the film or am I the only one????

Just saw it last night and loved it! Don't listen to the critics. Probably just butt hurt fans of that 2016 dumster fire. Obviously not true ghostbusters fans if they honesty thought that garbage was anything close to what the series should be.

I just watched it. I need to watch it 2 more times before I truly judge it, the first time is all about seeing what it is vs expectations and hopes. There were things I loved and things that bothered me. I need to watch it a second time to see it for what it is, without the anticipation and expectation.
I love all 3 Ghostbusters movies (2016 reboot, don’t @ me), Afterlife for me was a bit overrated. I’m going to check out Frozen Empire. The mixed reviews for Frozen Empire was a little odd.

Gotta say I loved the first hour and 20 minutes or so, but a certain plot line came along that wasnt fleshed out at ALLL and the way it ended took me out of the movie. Such a shame for me

I really liked Ghostbusters Afterlife and before that I had never seen a ghostbusters other than the 2016 reboot. Earlier this week I have been watching all the ghostbusters movies and I have been really enjoying them. Now after seeing ghostbusters frozen empire I can say that it is a great film. Even though it does have a bit of flaws when you take it all in it has so much good. It’s an 8/10
I know everyone is dying for my spoiler free review of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. I enjoyed it. It was fun! I liked it better than most of Afterlife (the ending was too good in Afterlife) I had issues with the 2 minor subplots though and am confused on why they did some of the things they did, but the main story and villian were great though. Solid 7.5/10. Most fans are enjoying it critics not so much. Go judge it for yourself.
I think they jump ahead to much from the Ghostbuster afterlife They could show how they Decided to move back to New York and go into the business of Ghostbust if you didn't see the afterlife movie You wouldn't understand the new characters they could have like a couple series after the Ghostbuster afterlife movie to to lead up to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire
I liked the movie. I wanted to love it though. I'm pleased that none of the original characters got killed off, which seems to be a thing nowadays. I'd give the movie 7 out of 10. But with future viewings that score will probably increase. 👻

I think they setup Ray dying. I suspect there was significant reshoots. I wonder if in the first cut he did.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout Ray wasn't the character I feared that might get bumped off. I see Dan Aykroyd as having an abundance of enthusiasm promoting Ghostbusters. Not only because he co-created it, but because he has a genuine fascination in the paranormal. If Sony plan to make more, I think they'd be nuts to put Ray in charge of pushing up the daisies. The character I feared that was going to find themselves bereft of life at the end, was Peter Venkman. I thought, if Bill decided that this was to be his last one, would they sacrifice Venkman? Thank the Tobin Spirit Guide that they didn't. 😃

Really good film had a lot of fun yes there where to many characters and not all plots where fully explored but it was really good fun and a solid movie
Kind of annoyed that after all of these years I still haven’t been above to stream afterlife. I have several major services and to my knowledge none of them have had it. So the odds of getting to see that and then go see this in the theater (or even later on streaming) feel rather dim.

My only complaints with the movie is several characters felt wasted or like they could have been cut out completely and nothing would change. Phoebe to me was extremely annoying and destructive for the whole movie so I understand why they didn’t want her destroying the city even more. Then the trailer sold it that it would be a frozen empire for more then 15 minutes at the end but that was just me and my opinion. But I still enjoyed the movie as a follow up but liked afterlife a lot more
i had a ton of fun, it had a handful of laughs, and i honestly think mckenna grace is a really skilled actor

Currently this movie has a 46% which is not a good score. Even though afterlife has like a 64%, it’s still a solid score which is weird since 2016 has a higher score.

I really loved Afterlife but Frozen Empire while entertaining thanks to the cast was really uneven. Seemed a little rushed and cobbled together. The choice of where they begin the film I actually don’t completely agree with it.
Bill Murray is the STAR of Ghostbusters. How can he barely be in it?
Because he hasn’t wanted to Star in a ghostbusters film since 1984.
Also, what worked for a 35 year old Venkman doesn’t exactly translate to a 70 year old Venkman.

It really is that bad. Infact 4 is too high. Afterlife was so good be ause it kept things simple. Frozen Empire is convoluted and a total mess.

The bits of the story with Emily Alyn Lind's character were for me the weakest part. As one of Phoebe's subplots it just didnt do it for me. And the unusual nature of Lind's character within Ghostbusters canon. I.e. her not being a monster and also not being mute, made her just feel out of place in a Ghostbusters film.
