- Tom Tom cuts out rear fenders, frame cross members, and the truck bed to make room for the rear suspension. The trailing arms and shocks are mocked up with the help of an unconventional new design tool, the pool noodle!

Videos look and sound fine. Samsung 4K tv watching at 1080p. Fiber line. Videos are fine.

It’s a garage, live with it. I wish I had the height and a lift.
I never noticed an issue with the lights or the sound, maybe I just don’t have a keen eye or ear😊!
There's for sure some improvements to be made with audio quality but it has never hindered my ability to understand and enjoy these videos!
Jesus Christ! The people complaining about the lighting and sounds in his garage, are you kidding me? It’s a garage for crying out loud. What does your garage look like? Is it set up with lights and sound equipment? Is it set up as a recording studio? Then shut up about his garage, it suits him fine. He doesn’t need a recording studio to make him happy.
Amen to that, if you want studio sound, find a boring channel in a studio.
Im glad to see someone working and building things in something closer to what the average viewer might have at home.
As the channel grows he will get better equipment and improve video/ sound quality then people will complain that it's not the same.
No complaints, no suggestions. Just like watching, keep doing what your doing.

I definitely don't watch for the production value, and if anything the opposite. The thing I love about Tom, Matt, Paul and others, is the realism, problem solving, and all-around comradery. It's wholesome and educational and entertaining. So you just do you Tom!

Geez Tom, you shouldn't fret at all regarding lighting and echos. You proudly use what you have and, as you explained, you will eventually upgrade when it is feasible and financially possible. RUclips's unfettered comment system unleashed a hoard of unqualified critics who never seem to be satisfied. Ahhhh, Tom, releasing the inner child at heart. As an engineer, I really love listening to your rational thoughts on reasoning behind your designing. When I watched you cutting the tops off the trailing arms, I thought you were making a terrible mistake, only for you to tell me exactly what I had been thinking and that you had plans for adding the strength back in. Confidence in, and respect for you, now reinforced.

Agreed, those fenders are cool.
Maybe you could cut the fenders in half and insert a plate in the middle to elongate them and be able to re-use them.

I never noticed the lighting, and I think the sound is great on these videos, guess the content has just been to much fun to notice those things for me. Sound mixing and video editing is awesome, and the story telling is awesome as well. Look forward to these videos every Sunday morning, first on my watch list. Great job Tom and Crew.

Hmmm, maybe he's just a normal dude, doing what he loves, and putting it all out there so kids living in their grandmas basement can critique him. Love it!

I am sure much is related to the way you understand all the geometry of suspensions and the simple explanations you give to help us understand the why and how the measurements matter, even when we really don't understand why and how they matter!
If there are any pool noodles left over, maybe you can tape them to the wall to calm the echo.

Pool noodles great idea. The sound adds to the build. I run sound every week and I like the raw sound of a shop environment. 😊

Hey Tom.. A little trick I've learned from many "pro street" and "bracket car" drag racing builds.. When you have to weld in a bracket that is factory riveted and painted, use a torch to burn off the paint first followed by a stiff wire wheel or a round mandrel mounted kind you can put in a drill or die grinder.. You'll still get a few "gas holes" but far less and smaller than sanding alone...
Looking good. Hope that is the start of your color scheme.

There is also audio processing you can do at the edit time to help reduce echo. It won't fix it entirely, but you can reduce the effect. I personally don't really mind the echo because it is clear that you are in a big echo-ey room and that's part of the experience. Of course it is better to reduce the capture of the echo -- another way to do this is to use a shotgun microphone which prioritizes audio from in front instead of from the sides. But I would be willing to bet that with some simple editing software settings you can reduce your echo enough.
