Great Review! Suntory AO is was an academic exercise for me. I appreciated the complexity and savory notes I found, but I don't go back to it very often. The bottle & box look fantastic.
Great review as always CPU. I picked up this bottle last month but haven’t cracked it yet. Suntory products are usually high quality so this was an easy buy. Have to agree with Dillion here, Ichiro’s would have been a better taste off. If the AO holds up to something that much more expensive, it really deserves a gold at that point.
I was lucky enough to try it out at the ANA Lounge in Haneda. Neat and then on the rocks. After, I went out to one of the Duty-Free shops to buy one :))
The Suntoni Bras has spoken!..... Dutch be havin a stroke and Dillon be Incredulously Offended Dillion (IOD).🤣 This CPU back-catalogue is priceless! Mission accomplished too - because now I'm bloody intrigued with this AO and will try pick one up on special!
Dillon is like one of those teachers that sounds super scary on the first day of class, but actually gives very generous grades haha, while Jules is the opposite! (Not on this one, since Dillon was one point lower than Jules, but in general)
Great show Guys. I tried this at a bottle share and found it enjoyable and very pleasant. I know its not really in the Japanese wheel house, but our group consensus was that this would have been super interesting and maybe great, at a 46+%ABV, if not a cask strength. We all thought the intensity would have been helped, and the consistency might have also been improved at the higher proof. Cheers.
I believe there is also Chita distillate in the AO blend. Not sure, but it somewhat tastes like that. It seems kind of like Suntory's answer to Nikka's From the Barrel and Ichiro's Malt and Grain.
Great review guys!! Wanted to try this bottle for a while, only problem is that in my country it sells for €135,-. When I visited Japan I was able to get hold on 2 bottles for €35 each and I love the taste for this price point :)
Definitely should have compared to Nikka Session if you can get it or even Nikka By The Barrel. Ichiro's Malt and Grain maybe would have been a good comparison. Taketsuru is a fine comparison but its a Japanese blend vs world blend.
Great review and will have to try. Was in Japan recently and Nikka has a world whisky in a blue bottle called Session that sells for about $30 there. Have not seen it in US but this would be a good compare.
I picked up 2 bottles for 35 and at that prices its a bargain! It doesnt taste cheap to me and the mouth feel is silky. To be honest the taste and aroma are so suttle between whiskeys that i dont taste a huge difference to say like hibbiki or johnny platinum. Guess my taste buds suck which is good for me because then I can save money 😂. As long as it is smooth and tasty I am happy
Love these timely reviews, I’ve been curious about this one as well. The label description sounds like Suntory had a bunch of miscellaneous whiskies left over, then tried to make a drinkable blend out of them as a cash grab 🤨
ON the argument it depends on if you are comparing liquid or price point, BUT Dutch = Passive agressive....Dillon = Agressive agressive The other bloke = Non agressive
Well now I’m glad I got a bottle of this at retail by me. $64 plus tax. I have the yoichi and Taketsuru to compare to. I’ve never had problems with screw tops. Actually I prefer them now after dealing with so much cork rot on dusty bottles.

Delightful Dillon to Jules: "Why are you talking?" 😂

I picked up a bottle a month ago. I haven’t open it yet. I usually tend to agree with Dutch on tasting.

You can always tell a good whiskey by the quality of the screw top.lol😂
I have both of these have yet to try them can’t wait

Nikka's Session was the company's response to Suntory's AO.
@@laurence335 ah that's right!!! Good catch. I do still think AO has similar characteristics to FTB though

I've got an island in the north channel of Lake Huron, where is Dillon's?
I want to see you guys put Kavalan up next to this for "best world whisky."
Havent seen this in central fl yet. Cant wait to pick up some suntunny products!

What do you guys think of an Arran drinkthrough?
Good show:) I just walked past it yesterday at Costco! Maybe I’ll go back:)
Yeah, Dillon is correct: Ichiro's World whisky would be a good comparison for AO. A 2nd option could be Nikka FTB.

Cool video, idk if I’m gonna cop the booze tho. Maybe. I love Costco

Did Jules make a jo-jo reference?
Bras should be an award level!
Yeah ... comes from Glen "Bagpipes" Larry! Aka "Pipes".
“3 of us drank a bottle in one hour” - - - sounds VERY drinkable - - a 10 on drinkable (not an 8).
I mean, Dillon’s right.
ON the argument it depends on if you are comparing liquid or price point, BUT Dutch = Passive agressive....Dillon = Agressive agressive The other bloke = Non agressive
Yup yup yup - - 3 stooges sound - - - fun to watch
100% should have been Ichiro vs Ao
I’m with Dillion on this one
Three way...🥃🥃🥃

I just assumed this was terrible.
Glen Garioch ("geery")
Hakushu ("hak-shu")
Jim Beam white label would blow it out of the water
Pretty surprised by the score, I thought this was terrible.
