Brandon: I wonder if you realize how powerful this song is, even today, years later. The image of the babe, trembling in the hay, is one of the strongest statements of the humanity of Christ I have heard in my 61 years of life. Being a preacher's kid, I have heard the Christmas story my entire life but this song just captures the story and blesses in a new way. I am working this song up on my guitar and would like to add this to my Christmas repertoire, if that would be OK. God Bless you, richly, in this time of great need for ministry to a hurting world . It's 2023 ! This past Christmas I heard this song for the first time. My daughter attended your concert in Texas and then played it for me. It's just so beautiful I play it over and over each day. May our Lord Jesus pour out his spirit on this crying humanity and bring us to our knees in humility.🙏 Thank you for this song these words this message of love
Everything I hear this guy, sing this song,it's like it was the first time,I get goosebumps!! It's so true,so amazing!!! Did he write this? I know he did this years ago I just found out,but christmas is the fitting ti.e to hear this. I hope we hear more from Brandon heath! No we don't need more songs wile John Lennon " imagine". We seem to live in a world people don't believe in god,God, heaven, hell,he'll, this song imagine says. It's sad people are leaving christanity, morals,Christianity,, even the constitution was founded on god.
Very nice. Mary must have actually been pretty young when she gave birth to Jesus. I can only imagine how scary it would be for a "suddenly" pregnant teenager to almost be left by her fiance, then have to give birth in a stable on top of everything. That takes a ridiculous amount of faith and courage. She WAS just a girl, but one of the bravest there ever was :)
Let's not forget the fact that Joseph had to reconcile that his wife to be is pregnant by someone else. He was going to leave her until told by God him to stay. It took more faith for Joseph to trust God. Mary knew she had not known any other. She simply had to trust God. Joseph had to contend with the same fears of being a father but also deal with suspicion of Marys' infidelity. Thankfully both put themselves aside and trusted God. People always focused on Mary but Joseph assumed the role of Husband to a wife that did not bear his child. He loved Jesus as his own. Amazing story.
I read the first few comments and agree that here are parts that are very inspiring and thought provoking. My only problem is that there is some imagination and even unbiblical thinking. I can deal with the non-historical visit to the stable by the innkeeper, but implying that Mary saved the world goes beyond the scope of biblical teaching, She gave birth to the Savior of the world and is most blessed among women, but this goes much too far.
Looking at the lyrics, I realize I was mistaken. Forgive me. I still wonder about saying that Mary changed the world. Through her obedience to God's will, the world was changed. Praise God! When I heard this today on the radio, it sounded like the lyrics were still "she would save the world" as in the phrase before. And my only problem now is asking Brandon to pronounce "h" with a bit more emphasis like he did in the live version. Love the song.
