- Wherein I disassemble and service an old Atlas (re-branded Kato) GP-9 locomotive. The 4000 series locomotives require a bit of wrangling to remove the shell. This method would also work for the GP-7 locomotives.

hi Alex... awesome how to.. looks like you got yourself a winner... thanks for sharing.. vinny
Yes. A very big difference between when I first tried to run it and after the servicing. Now, I'm not upset about how much I spent on it. lol
wow a n scale loco and it is that much work to get apart. glad you did a video about it.. should help out many people.
I spent a lot of time looking for a video on one of these and couldn't find any. So... I did it myself! The difference in how it runs after I oiled it is astounding.
This video will be very helpful to a lot of people
Made it up the hill! Thank you and take care.. Paul.
That's good, looks like you used a lot of patience doing it, I might make a suggestion to clean the old oil or grease out before putting new oil on, and maybe test before putting the shell back on (you might have done these off camera) but it looked like the operation was a successful, just needs micro-trains couplers and you've got a good engine to your fleet....thanks for all the good information....Jack
In this case, the main problem was that everything was dry so there was no residue to clean up. But you're absolutely right about cleaning out the old lubricant before adding new.
I did test it before I reinstalled the shell. (time stamp 9:30)
The knuckle coupler installation is on my list!
@@playingwithtrains7764 ok I missed that the dogs must have been barking....
