I have not watched the show but seen there story talked about and in all apocalypse movies and shows these two had the happiest and most peaceful ending.
If you dont know frank died because he said he didn’t want to live so he said to bill/guy that had the gun to poison his drink because he didn’t wanna die as a zombie so bill said no but he had to for his own good so after bill killed his self leaving a message for Ellie and Joel
bills my favorite character can’t see anyone taking his place. This show is S tier

I can’t believe a lot of people were hating on this episode just because it was a gay couple who had a life together and died together.
It was a down to earth relationship that just happened to be between two men
It makes sense that they changed it from the game, to show more of that perspective which is harder to do in the games without loads of flashbacks which wouldn’t make any sense from Joel’s perspective
The way Bill and Frank died together was so peaceful because that’s how much they loved each other it tugged at my heartstrings when Bill took care of him when he got sick
This was such a down to earth written relationship, to the point where I didn’t notice it was a same sex one

The only thing that changed was their outcome. While it isn’t explicitly stated in the game, it’s clear they were intimate in the past. Bill’s entire demeanor changed the minute he finds Frank hanging. You can hear it in his voice, and see that he’s holding back tears. He’s already not the type to have friends. Their fallout was brutal. He goes from really only caring about his own safety in the town, being very open about the fact Ellie and Joel’s safety is not his priority, to incredibly distant. Much more distant than one would react to a survival partner, rather losing the love of their life. Though it doesn’t seem like much, he does become more willing to help Joel and Ellie after the fact.
Also, Ellie finds that dirty magazine full of men in Bill’s personal collection. That wasn’t haphazardly placed. Bill had it there for… reasons.
Frank only wanted to leave the town because Bill had become so obsessive. He didn’t want to live in fear until it inevitably killed him. His initial hope was to also have Bill join him, but couldn’t convince him in the end, which caused the fallout.
The only thing they changed was Frank getting sick, and the two choosing to take their life painlessly so neither has to live without the other.

No no, fuck no! Listen, this shit has nothing to do with them being gay, it’s just random and weird for them to have killed Bill off in the show after following the game so accurately in the first two episodes. Their whole romance didn’t do anything to drive the main plot forward at all, they’re just side characters. I felt like this episode wasn’t needed at all. Great to have backstory on Bill but then they killed him without using him at all. He was a minor but essential part of the game. Obviously he left Joel with supplies but it would’ve been nice to see him in action and actually do something in the show other than gay shit lol Should’ve stuck to the games story, where they find Frank hanging.

What twist? They were literally lovers in the game, my guy. Why the fuck else would Ellie have found that dirty magazine in Bill’s collection? Bill’s entire demeanor changes the moment he discovers Frank hanging. He goes from being completely argumentative, to entirely distant. Much more distant than he would’ve been if frank was just a friend. It was the kind of distant one becomes after losing the love of their life. Quite literally the only thing that was changed in the show is that Frank gets sick, and they both take their own lives so they don’t have to live without one another.

@@hassasinco3830the very mild and almost non existent "sex scene" you're talking about is SO important. the outbreak happened in 2003. gay people were not as accepted as they are now. bill was a closeted gay man finally realizing he could experience that love without guilt, shame, or fear. it's 40+ years of being terrified of loving. that scene shows the vulnerability of love. he's scared and giddy at the same time, but he feels safe. it's very important to show little pockets of different types of love because that's the entire point of the show. it's meant to be about love, connections, and family

A few things worth mentioning: since society collapsed in 2003, these two never got to see a world where gay marriage was legalized. "Paying attention to things is how we show love", Bill has obviously been planting those flowers all the way over where the shops Frank wanted to fix up are, just to show his love and attention for Frank on the odd visit to the shops. There are so many details in this episode that make your heart melt.
Currently the best gay story in
mainstream media. A masterclass of an episode from the acting, writing, and set pieces. Whoever the episode director was for this, fantastic work. As a gay man with more masculine qualities I often find myself underrepresented even in todays world. This story made me feel heard. Nice work team!

@@hardwirecars, you would definitely not be saying if this was a hetero couple. I’m not normally a fan of LGBT representation being overly pushed, but this part of the show was not overly pushed at all and is in my opinion one of the few times LGBT representation was done right in a show.

Amazing acting, I’m watching the show with the most minimal knowledge of the video game so I had no idea who these characters were & I could sense the chemistry as soon as he was leaving him clean clothes on the bed. What a beautiful thing to sprout from such devastating events.
