if you're using cross margin and your liquidation price gets hit, you could lose your entire account balance. If you're using isolated margin and your liquidation price gets hit, you will only lose that position , not your entire account balance unless you put your whole account balance in to one isolated position.
If you're long, you would need to set your stop loss higher than your liquidation price. If you're short, you would need to set your stop loss lower than your liquidation price. If done correctly, your stop loss will prevent you from getting completely liquidated, but you will still take a loss.

if your stop loss gets hit, your position will be closed at a loss (your estimated pnl) plus the fee for closing the trade.
