- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
- This week I was commissioned to create a workshop sign for one of my oldest friends, Alex. The design came from utilizing imagery from his family's coat of arms. The final piece was created using both old school, and new age techniques. Thank you for watching!

Mr. McAfee, you have once again left me speechless.... Wow. Just... wow....
Woot
Duuude! Amazing... Seriously, if I ever take up blacksmithing, this is exactly the kind of work I'd want to do, decorative, artistic, organic. You're about the only person who does blacksmithing that I want to watch.
I'm guessing you've not watched Torbjorn Ahman. ruclips.net/user/torbjornahmanfeatured
Great work! The red finish looks very cool!
You need to get yourself all the red wax you can
@@skullandspade Red and black. I'm on it!
Brother!!!
Seriously, this is bloody fantastic!
Thank you for sharing your work with us mere peasants.
Thank you! I’m just a guy with equally dirty peasant hands
No paint finishing techniques, indeed! 💛

Also my knuckles were bleeding just watching you cut the shield part out, lol
Definitely took a few nicks
Literally a work of art.
You are
Brilliant, just simply brilliant.
Thank you as always Randy
The patina and finishing with the red paste wax and white details on the fleur de lis are amazing. That is nothing short than a piece of art. Fantastic work Brett!
Thank you Sean!
Well done, Cap...well done!
Thank you Nicholas
Well done. Love the use of brass rivets and the beautiful organic gestures. Brilliant way to 'power brass'. Thanks for sharing, Cap'n.
Thank you very much Marielle!
This is so good. I know how hard it is to do some of what you have done with all the little things i have made over the years . Really great to see an artist at work
Great project again Brett ! I find it funny how the Lys, symbol of the French Monarchy, ends up being on a person's sign in the American Republic ^^ Keep the work going Brett, it's always very inspiring !
Thank you!!!
What a brilliant shop sign! 🔨👍👍
Great textures!
You have combined traditional and new techniques to create a wonderful piece of art!
I think the hammer marks made by hand make this sign a wonderful work of art.
We, the Makers, drive a time machine when we think about the technique and the work.🚘
Very well said JP! We hold the keys to the time machine of makery
Beautifully imagined and expertly executed! Thanks for showing us how you work.
Thank you!
YOU do me good, BMA! 🙏👏❤️
Woot
So bad ass.... Love the way you used the hardy hole to shape the shield!!
Thank you!
This is beyond craftsmanship, this is art. You did such an amazing job
Thank you very much
Superb! I think you enjoyed the journey...

Absolutely gorgeous work, captain!
Thanks Adrian!!!
Excellent work as always. I appreciate the mixture of techniques - hot and cold, old and new. So many little tips and tricks mixed in. And the thoughtful video production elevates it even further, keep up the good work.
Thank you Jacob
That’s stunning cap! Wow!
Thank you sir!
Dude! Nice mix of forging and fabrication. Between the textures, the perspective of the armor guy, and the dishing of the shapes, you achieved some great three-dimensionality. Love the sheen on that wax
Thank you sir! High praise from such a fabricator as yourself
Killer job Cap! Beautiful work!
Cheers mate
Armet - gratest knight helmet!
I agree! And thank you for watching/commenting! I love your channel!!!
The way you can move metal is astounding. You are a true artist.
Well thank you
Cap'n this was one of your most beautiful builds. This is why I continue to be a patron, to show my appreciation for what you do. I am a little jealous of your abilities though
Thank you very much for the support Shane
@@skullandspade Let me know when you start doing lessons, I could use a desert vacation.
The three-dimensionality on that piece turned out fantastic. I'm going to have to give that Gilder's Wax a try. I also hate paint finishes on forged steel.
Please do, it’s my new favourite
Wow, that is positively awesome, Brett!
Thanks Billy
Brett keep killing it. This turned out very beautiful. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work Brett. Can't wait to see ur next videos and projects. Always love watching your videos I always learn something. Forge On. Fab On. Keep Making. God Bless.
Thank you sir
Wow! I’m constantly amazed by your work but this is next level. Incredible.
Thank you Josh!
Man, this is so freaking cool! I really dig the thought behind the fabrication. Off the hook awesome!
Thanks brother
You did such a great job Bret, the scroll work, the brass rivets. I did for some reason expect the knights head to start talking for some reason and I'm not entirely sure why. Must have something to do with 80's cartoons. Cheers
That’d be so damn good. To have a talking mask on your shop front
Impressive, good job!
And I really appreciate that the welding was in synch with the music! ✨🎶
Thank you sir!
That came out beautiful.
Cheers Jim
Brett, I didn't get a chance to comment after this was first posted, but absolutely beautiful, beautiful job.
Thank you Eric!
Dude, that turned out beautiful. nice work - inspires me to look up my family coat of arms for a shop hanger

European or African?
That's absolutely stunning cap'n 😲 I think the next logical step is to make a suit of armor 🤔
I hope to do that one day... although Al made it look far too easy
Another amazing creation Brett.
Thank ye
It was already a cool sign. The added dimension and details like the rivets really make it special. And the finishing!
Thank you sir!!!
Looks awesome. Love the different colors you put into it.

Your skill & creativity continues to amaze Brett great work & beautiful video 😍
Thank you as always Annie!
Turned out amazing!
Thank ye!
Anything medieval heraldry style is always awesome to see. I would have been tempted to throw some roughed up lumber in behind it for more depth layering but that's not knowing where it is intended to be displayed.
Hopefully I’ll have pictures of the installation to show on Instagram soon. The gentleman is building the post for it now
Looks brilliant. Cheers Brett and thanks for sharing another awesome video!
Thank you as always
Awesome film. Build is gorgeous. Need to get some metal wax. Mahalo for sharing!🙂🐒
