To be honest, she is probably one of the major jazz contemporary artist. Her style is unique with syncopation, unusual musical scale, rhythm changes and some synthesizers. I really think we will remember her in some decades.
I only recently discovered her and have to admit she is among my favorite performers. Looking with Anthony. Jackson and Simon Phillips, Chick , among many other highly praise artists further en 0:11 shines her in my list of jazz performers. 0:11
Can't overstate how enjoyable it is to listen to tightly rehearsed bands, with top shelf musicians, and controlled windows for improvisation. I really think this makes their improv sections better as the player can think more about what they want to accomplish in the measures allocated to their solos. Add to that simply fabulous composition to begin with. This is the best music group in the world today.
One of the numerous things I like about Hiromi is that her lines don't sound like typical post-bop lines that one still hears so much (and which often strike me as being too cool for me to listen to.... her music is fun...it's jazz, it's prog, it's a little classical....and her face is joy.
I Just found out about this incredible artist and trio today. I'm spellbound and utterly entranced, what superlative talent, completely off the scale! A new lifelong musical hero without any doubt ❤
La, what a trio! Uehara's progressions, Anthony Jackson's terrific bass support and diversions, Steve Smith's unifying rhythm. You can't stop listening.
I'm 55 years old (and a half, in fact) done music admittedly at low level, but I sing, and I play instruments. Until Hiroe hit me, I shunned this type of jazz. Just love it! Amazing skills, what energy, and one just cannot love the energy and joy!
This Trio is SPECIAL! ☥♥️☥ Been used to seeing them with Simon Phillips on Drums. They still sound awesome! Steve Smith is 🔥🔥too. Anthony Jackson 🔥🔥Hiromi 🔥🔥
Love this piece! She has others like this.. frenetic.. that keep me full awake and joyful! She's possessed by the music.. Continue sending stars to the sky, Hiromi!
@@freshpansen6313 I think Hiromi's natural composing style does a big part on that. Not many composers manage to make a 7/8 beat feel this fluent, even letting you forget that it's odd!
Correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm not a 100% about what you were considering Rock riffs, but to me, her riffs sounded more like Uematsu Nobuo/Black Mages type of rock riffs rather than the more Western Rock influenced riffs.
Never seen her before. Wow! Talk about a 9/8 tune with Steve Smith on drums. Drummer from original Journey's Don't Stop Believing and his own great band Vital Information. And the great Anthony Jackson on bass from Wayne Krantz & Paul Simon, and 70's Steely Dan records. Great metric mod, odd time, compound even/odd bars. Dynamics, and vamp solos. Glad this piano prodigy gets to play with these guys! Holy Crap!
Zycopolis TV... thanks for posting so much of this phenomenal performance Hiromi did at Vienne in 2011... so many of the pieces she performed offered up for us all here, superb to witness !
Breathtaking is far too simple of a word to use to describe this performance. Yet, that is all that I can reach for. This performance and the sounds these three were creating were what my passionate about music parts of me were hoping to stumble upon and to listen to today. 🌻
I love their faces, their pouting and posturing, and the unbridled love they share for that song. They must have rehearsed and practiced hard to make it look so effortless!
Wouaouh, extraordinaire !

This must be one of the most fantastic jazz experiences of our second millenium time, and all the time I sit and try to figure out why Im so familiar with the theme in the beginning and the end. Is it Bach? Or Beethoven, Brahms? Anyone on B? Or is it just their own theme? Have anyone of you listening to this marvelous piece a clue? If not, I will just continue enjoying...
Totally agree, Hiromi is awesome, but Steve Smith is really one of the greatest drummers I've ever seen/ heard. Check out Steve Smith on this tune: ruclips.net/video/PobnVcRQr7M/видео.html - What a groove!
Hiromi makes piano faces, Anthony makes bass faces and Steve makes drum faces.
They are totally in the music. They have become the music. This is it.
I totally agree
If this isnt it, there isnt any ! :D
I have never seen any musician smile as much as her! You can tell she loves to play!
I don't think you can live such a life or produce such things if you are not 200% into it

there is maybe emmet cohen. not that spectacular, but a real heavy weight.

She has a seat among the greatest pianists of all time.
it's true
Well, I'm SOLD! I have been listening to Jazz of all kinds for over 6 decades and She is One of the Great One's without a Doubt!
This is just amazing modern music played at god level. Geniuses doing genius things. The music world needs more of this.
Playing such a complicated music with a smile on his face ...Steve Smith, legend

I'm about 18 minutes into having heard Hiromi for the 1st time, and I am in to this. The piano, the trio, yes.
Hiromi, oh Hiromi. How did I live without you all those years.
And let's not forget the bassist, he's the glue holding it all together.❤️🌹💖
Person: Are you a classical or jazz pianist?
Hiromi: yes.
elle excelle dans les deux ..

All the way through my smile never dropped that much how amazing this is and will be forever.
She is so unique. Never seen or heard anything like this. What a team of unique musicians.
They joy on her face is so pure. They all can feel the music that’s for sure!
@Topjunkie some DJS can throw down. But this is definitely my preference 😂
Hiromi is, IMO, the greatest piano player alive today and one of the greatest of all time!
Try these too: Stephanie Trick, her husband Paolo, Louis Mazétier, Arnaud Lafon,...
Have you heard Yuja Wang?
Jesus Molina
Marc Andre-Hamelin.

I'm about to cry when listening to this. It's adorable!
The best jazz trio performance I have ever experienced. Supremely talented trio.
La, what a trio! Uehara's progressions, Anthony Jackson's terrific bass support and diversions, Steve Smith's unifying rhythm. You can't stop listening.
Yes, and this is one of the best of all available videos to hear Anthony bass in the mix.....
This level of technical mastery is just mesmerizing...
Spectacular, phenomenal, mind-blowing… I’m speechless!!
Anthony has such a fresh approach to rhythm. No one is able to do that thing that he does so well even 50+ years later
Steve Smith is truly one of the best drummers of all time.
Bof.........
Absolutely
Saw this Trio at Jazz Alley in Seattle years ago. Fascinating, unbelievable musicianship
Bravo!!!

Normally when i watch a band performing, ill focus on one one musician. But you three are equally amazing! !!!!!
Wow....Just love this...she is awesome, and so is Steve Smith..he is a superb drummer
She is beyond a ‘jazz pianist’ :o
Steve Smith.. amazing!!!
Don't know if I'm to declare this the best jam session I ever heard or the best performance I'll ever see , Really Wonderful !!
Unbelievable live performance, unbelievable talent. I’ve not heard anything quite like this. This puts my mind in sync! ❤

I saw them here in Brasil in 2016, they changed my life.
Experienced this twice, and also her other appearances. It never, ever, ceases to fascinate me. What an absolute top-performer!!
Superb concert. 10/10.
Pitty for not knowing this performance earlier since it was done in 2011.
Thanks youtube for presenting and to uploaders.

They are like one body, and I enjoyed not only their playing all together but also separately.

Interesting mix: Rock Star vibe and beauty...Jazz chops...ragin' Rock riffs... the stellar band...even minimalist influences...A modern-day Liszt!

Anthony played with an old fav of mine - Michel Camilio…..so I had to check it out.
Delighted that I did!

Bravooooo, bravooooo. Demasiado talento
There is simply no need for another instrument. Amazing composition and performance.
Very solid play !! Exciting!! So great !! Progressive !! It's not the point whether this is jazz or not. It's new and great .
Why on earth wouldn't this be jazz ???
