  • These two guitars appear so similar but sound so different! We demonstrate them both here and discuss some of the differences. If you would like more details about these guitars you can find them on the Bob's Boutique page at benedettoguitars.com. You play amazing! I liked “polka dots and moonbeams”

    Benny for me. I like that more dynamic sound. I wonder how cool it would be with a set of old Guild humbuckers...

    Also, if you want to show the difference in guitars, why would you not put the same strings on both? How much of the difference is due to the strings? A lot.

    to me they're not THAT different! The main difference I hear right away is in the heavier strings...beyond that, all I hear is one is brighter than the other, which could be evened out by rolling off the tone knob.. but the character of the sound to me is pretty similar..

      The reason Pat uses to explain the heavy string gauges is literally because he has a tendency to be heavy in his right hand picking and was busting through the lighter strings all the time.

    I can see Howlin Wolf playing either one and me tapping my feet until I was buzzed enough to dance.

    FIFTEENS. Okay I thought I was cool playing 11s.

      …Wes played 14s on a 25,5” scale on his L5 😄. 11a are also fine I would say… but 12s for example… are just “finer” 😎🤌

    Can you please demo the pat martino on to some rock blues style playability so we can check the tone vastness of the guitar

      We'll do that at some point... It may require a different setup, though. Flat wound .015s are pretty hard to bend!

    Still cant decide between spruce And Maple top.

    Benny has a more dynamic sound. Since both use the same pickups, in your opinion the main responsible is the top (spruce vs maple) or the strings gauge? Thanks!!

      The strings are having a massive impact here. The top probably does a bit, but flatwound 15s compared to roundwound 11s are entirely different.

    Does anyone know what guitar(s) Pat Martino used on his album comin and goin?

    • @benedettoguitars1968
      @benedettoguitars1968  3 года назад +1

      He was still playing a Gibson PM model guitar at that time.

    • @misteres335
      @misteres335 Год назад

      On exit ( 1976) he probably played a Gibson L6 and on The Return ( 1987) an Abe Rivera custom made guitar. No Gibson Pat Martino signature in sight for years …

      @@misteres335 He played a Gibson L5 S on Exit and We ll be together again and also on his Fusion Record Joyous Lake. Check out Willis Jackson Bar Wars recorded by Rudy van Gelder Studios. Best Guitar Tone ever!

      .015-.052 so not as extreme as you might think, just a compressed range with less difference from string to than you are used to. You would be amazed... it plays so easy you would never guess they are so large.

    The depth of tone isn't good and that is why a carved 17 inch is a much better sounding guitar than the shallow Benny

    Sheesh, you blew out the mike so bad it distorts so bad can't hear crap. Nice job for a music store.
