Nice vid good to see inside. Your car is my cars father...I have an 85 Turbo Esprit and can see the similarities. I think we have the same gear knob :-)

Nice video, of a truly rare and eclectic car.
When I first saw one of these (1984), I thought it was some sort of kit-car-hearse joke. I was an avid car magazine reader since 1981, but there had been little mention of this car. Over the years I’ve learned how special it really is and the looks have grown on me too.
Would love to hear your driving-commentary, the handling, the power/torque, the brakes etc

I enjoyed your video and the ride- great job reassembling/rebuilding your S2. My Dad had a '71 while he lived just across 270 from you, from 1976-1993. Most importantly (for me, at least!) it was my daily driver for 5 years in the '80s. The dashboard finish was in the same exact condition.:-) My wife and I just moved back into St Louis after 36 years away, hopefully I'll get to see you driving around Kirkwood. Enjoy that vehicle!!!

Way back in 1970, the first Europa I ever saw was on Kirkwood Road, not too far from where you live. Sounds kind of creepy, but I figured out your street address however no worries. I won't publish it. I lived at 322 S. Woodlawn and I graduated from KHS in '71. Now here's the strangest part. Since 1988, I've owned a '74 Twin Cam Special. It's just like a JPS, but it's maroon with a tan interior. The VIN ends in 4218R. Thanks for posting the video.

@@Jimbos_garage Jim. When I graduated in 1971, I sold my '64 TR-4 and went off to college in Iowa. After graduating in 1975, I went to Minneapolis where I've lived ever since. I do remember seeing a Europa heading south on Kirkwood Road, very close to your house. My friends told me what it was. It was an S1 as it had the Cortina taillights. It's incredible just how alike our cars are. Starting my car sounds exactly like starting yours. The dash has about the same amount of cracking. Ever notice the spacing between the smaller gauges? Look at the two on the left and then look at the two on the right. They're all like that. If I ever install a new dash with a proper glove box door, I plan on fixing that defect! What I'd really like to do is come up with a way to increase the width of the pedal box. As you know, one has to drive the car using the side of your right foot on the gas even if you take your shoes off! Lotus already put stops on the rack to limit the angle of the turn. There's got to be a way to get some extra room in there! My middle name is Sheldon so my email address is my first name, my middle initial, and my last name. I use gmail so I'm certain you can figure out the rest. Send me a message and I'll send you pictures of my car.

I had a '71 Europa Renault in yellow. I loved it. Sadly Monster Garage got hold of it and turned it into a hovercraft.

Great car. I don't suppose you see too many Europa's where you live. Have never driven a Europa but had a brief drive in a friends '72 Elan Sprint which I think has the same engine and was so much fun to drive.

Thanks! I’ve lived in the Midwest all my life and have never seen one at a car show, let alone on the road driving! Yes, the Elan and Europa had similar engines at that time. They are go carts for the street!

I have a 1973 Europa and I' m working in the last details to get it on the street. What camera did you use? I guess it will be better to remove the rear view mirror for the film. I m about to do my first footage any advise would be appreciated 👍

I enjoy your work. If you're ever down around Branson it might be fun to compare your Europa to my GT40 replica. I bet the Lotus is easier to get into. Keep the videos coming.

The Europa has a 1558cc Ford based engine, the Jensen has a 2000cc Type 907 engine that was used in the Esprit, Eclat, Elite.

@@jefflavigne1747 Did the 74 Europa use the Ford engine? My brother had a 71 and it had the Renault engine. I know they switched at some point but can't remember which year. When I first read that Lotus was putting a supercharged Toyota engine in the Elise, I thought HALLELUJAH!!! somebody finally figured out that there are advantages to having a car that starts regularly and on the rare occasion it doesn't, you can actually find parts for it. I'd like to see what would happen with the Elise engine in a Europa body
