This was his 25th double double of the season on January 19.
    He had 25 more.
This is one of the best point guard seasons in NBA history, sadly it was just overshadowed by Westbrook’s season as well as Hardens, as this was the year D’Antoni arrived and Harden played legit point guard.
It could 100 percent be argued that Wall had a better season, including playoffs, than either of those players. I personally think Walls season probably does end up #3 on this list, but it is very close. If you look at team success, as well as individual success, records, etc..idk it’s close. You see, while Russ became the second player to ever average a triple double, Wall became the first player to ever record 1800 points, 800 assists, 150 steals and 50 blocks. In fact, prior to this season no one had ever recorded 1800 and 800 until Harden, Russ and Wall all achieved the feat. I understand a triple double is much more flashy and easy to convey and that is why Russ’ numbers got more acclaim, but if you think about it: what does the triple double supposedly represent? An all around performance on both ends of the count correct? Well, if you ask for me subjective opinion, I personally believe that the stats points, assists, steals and blocks are a better representation of an alllllll around game than simply points, assists and rebounds, no? I mean think about it, if we are talking about both ends of the court, when we think of defense, do we talk about how many rebounds a player recorded first? Or do we perhaps look at their blocks and steals? You know? No offense to Russ, but I think everyone knows that he has never been an elite defensive player. In fact, this very season he got flack for contesting less 3s than centers such as Deandre Jordan. People didn’t always like when it was apparent that Russ would sacrifice locking up on D for the chance to get in position for a rebound. I can also point to a player like Draymond Green. While he is a great rebounder, he has never touched double digit rebounds per game. And that is never held against him; because while rebounding is important, is does not need to be conflated with defense. I remember even during this season those who promoted Westbrook never once mentioned his defense, and that is because it has easily been his worst area during his career. He clearly has always had the potential to be a lock down defender, but he has never had the desire. He uses his energy to be a maniac on the glass and the offensive end. And that is ok. But again, to my point, I think John being a point guard and becoming the first player EVER with 1800/800/150/50+ in a seaosn is a more impressive All ArPoND season than Russ and his triple double season. That doesn’t mean his seaosn was better, it jsut depends on what you think is more important. The fact that Wall was actually snubbed from all defense that season is pretty crazy, as many stated at the time. Of course he has made an all defense team, but if there was any year he deserved to make it again? I don’t get how he didn’t get the honor that year.
Also, it’s impossible to ignore how clutch Russ was that season. I saw it live and in person. And when I say clutch I don’t just mean last shot, but taking over the 4th qtrs. As you can tell by looking at the # of views on their season highlights, though, people simply didn’t have their eyes glued to what John was doing at the same time. Wall consistently did what he did in this very game, lead the wizards to a win down the stretch of a tight game. I legit can’t even count the number of games that he either had a huge 4th qtr and/or made crucial plays down the stretch to seal the deal. In almsot every area, Walls season wasn’t worse, it just wasn’t as...I guess you could say gaudy or “loud” or easily accessible. Wall lamented the fact that the wizards continued to get shafted out of national TV games during their run as a top 4 team in the eastern conference during his 5 year all star/all nba stretch. I believe that definitely held back his national recognition. Of course he played so well this season, and took advantage of every national TV game he had to build his and the wizards rep, but it still wasn’t close to enough. He was seen by the public maube 70/80 percent less than most stars, and obviously that has a huge impact. Being on a team like the Wizards, if you aren’t on national TV and if the media doesn’t have a favorable bias towards promoting you, it really doesn’t matter how great you play, you simply won’t get the attention needed to validate your actual standing in the league. The fact that Wall actually ended up getting the level of national attention he did that seaosn despite these factors is a testament to how amazing his season was. Basically, it’s like he had to work, or play, twice as well to get half of the attention. A lot of people don’t know how historic his seaosn was to this day. Yes the average fan knows that 2016/17 Wall was his last truly healthy season and he was amazing, but that is mostly due to the playoffs. Which I will get to...but his actual regular season? All of the huge games and clutch plays and #1 highlights? Truly overshadowed. And don’t forget that when Russ and Harden weren’t getting the PG attention, it was Steph or Isiah Thomas. And again, wall still managed to somehow get respect despite playing for what was the joke of the league wizards before( and after...) he arrived. This dude won player of the month and had stenches where he literally had like 11+ assists( and of course his usual points) in something like 13 games in a row and something like 19 double doubles in 20 games or something. Of course he also had his 52 point game, which was reported to simply come from him trying to send a message to the team when he could tell no one was playing for the team and they were off to a 6-13 start. That jump started the team and they proceeded to win about 25 of their next 30 games as well as a 17 game win steak

Atomic Void The dribble ends when the player:[2]
Touches the ball simultaneously with both handsPermits the ball to come to rest while the player is in control of itTouches the ball more than once while dribbling, before it touches the floor.

Yep, the league says it was a double dribble. Couple that with their assistant coach being on the court during the next possession and I'd say this is a game that should be played under protest. Love to see the last seconds re-played because this was a complete F-job.

John Wall is nice, he just needs to get his leadership skills together and if they can make a trade to get another skilled player they'll be ready to make that next step.

JohnyHeroes no, when driving, his left hand tapped the ball to his right before the ball fell on the ground, he never dribbled or grabbed the ball with both hands therefore it's not a double dribble
