    You know what's really great instead of the golden open slow dry thinner you can do the golden open slow dry medium and the best part is since it's a medium it has binder in it which means you can go more than one to one. Also have you seen the atelier interactive acrylics that you can re-wet with a solution? In other words you can use them like gouch in a way. I love the company Golden! I love the fact that they are run by artists the people who are employed there and work there have a steak in the company and they're one of the first companies that are completely run by artists to make a product for artists by artists and I love their interference paints I stole them from my mom when I was 10 years old lol

      I have not tried those re-active paints yet BUT my buddy has and he love them... He did say you do have to be careful with varnishes on them - That can sometimes re-activate them too.

    • @death057
      @death057 3 месяца назад +1

      @@WildCreates yeah it's because in reality they're almost like alcohol acrylics if that makes sense? As weird as that sounds I'm pretty sure that the reconstituting solution is in fact some sort of rubbing alcohol but I could be wrong I have to look it up again. That would make sense on why some varnishes would reactivate them. So maybe a straight water-based varnish would be best or like a poly. Whatever they would use for alcohol inks I know is a good varnish for these paints. I use them in paint pouring but not for the fact that I can reactivate them they just have a very high pigment and decent price

    For anyone interested, I use any cheap acrylic white (any on sale in the art shop, even gesso works) with propylene glycol (I don't go over 30% propylene glycol, so I don't break the binder), if you need longer drying periods (up to days) you can add some glycerine to the mix, but don't over do, glycerine will stay for very long in your paint because it almost doesn't evaporate. These ingredients are present in most retarders.

    • @WildCreates

      @jcarndt1 3 года назад

      Where do you get propylene glycol ?

    • @ernestuz
      @ernestuz 3 года назад +1

      @@jcarndt1 Both, propylene glycol and glycerine are used in e-cigarettes and in food preparation, that might give you an idea where to buy them. In my case I buy the glycerine from Boots (I'm in UK) and the propylene glycol from Amazon.

    • @jcarndt1

      @@ernestuz thanks for the information.

    • @ernestuz
      @ernestuz 3 года назад +1

      @@jcarndt1 Perhaps I am being pedantic, the mix I normally use is 60% propylene glycol, 40% water, that I keep in a little bottle and I use instead of plain water. You have to be careful not to dilute the paint more than a 50%, because you may break the binder (thus the final mix would have a 30% propylene glycol ). The dilution problem also happens with pure water, and depends on brands, probably I am being cautious here.

    I dove into pour painting a few years ago and now have a large bottle of Flotrol left over. I've gone back to landscapes and wondered if the formula with the Flotrol would work the same way.... Thanks for any tips.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  Год назад +1

      I have not tried it BUT my feeling is NO.
      Flotrol is not a paint dry time extender. Its a chemical that makes your paint thinner and have an even viscosity to it. I think it was actually made for paint sprayers. You would add flotrol to thicker paints so they wouldn't clog your paint sprayer hose.

    Do you think adding vegetable glycerine would work instead of or along with one of the medium you tried out? It's easy to get in most places of the world and even though it feels oily it is water based.

    • @WildCreates
      @WildCreates  2 года назад +1

      As long as it has no impurities in it... you should be good to go (that's my assumption)... BUT make sure you do you research on it. I haven't tried this before, so double checking or doing a little added research OR even testing would be a good idea.

    Thanks, didn't know about the dry time for adding water on certain paints . I use Arteza acrylic paint and thier flat panels . They usually dry fast and get tacky quick, but don't mind. I add different amount of water to thin that out . Looking forward to your next vid , but have a side question. How to go about selling your paintings. I'm always having family and friends tells me to sell online but I hesitate due to the pains I see people go through. And have no clue about shipping art like that . Hoping you have some advice on that to help.

    Golden products are expensive compared with ordinary flow medium plus retarder. I get a 20 minute dry time from one table spoon😊 of each to eight tablespoons of cheap white which is enough for my propose. More of each would give a longer dry tie but I am not sure of the integrity of the paint film

      Sadly oil and acrylic paint dont mix. Think of it like oil and vinegar ( they wanna separate out ). Painting with them wet will lead to them flaking and break off the canvas when they try to dry.
