    Wow Gate 24 Travel, you did an outstanding job showing Lake George together with eight (8) great things to do there. We live a couple miles north of LG, so we're locals, kinda. Love the video, the voice, the tone and grammatical speech patterns...you nailed it! And, you were even kind enough to recommend the services and food establishments you liked...a very helpful video for visiting tourists. I would highly recommend you use your RUclips documentary talents in other towns...wherever. You are really good at this. Thank you.

      Oh my goodness, Sharon! What a truly kind and thoughtful comment and compliment(s) you've given us! I truly appreciate your taking valuable time to watch this video AND leaving this comment. I would definitely say you're locals! :) I haven't considered that suggestion before, but I'm certainly going to share it with my husband. I've already got ideas flowing. I do hope to get back to Lake George this Summer. So maybe we will run into each other! Have a wonderful evening! (Melinda)

    My friend just drove his tour bus up to Lake George, the kids will do white water rafting, among other things. Very nice video - thanks for telling people that NY is more than just a metropolis. There's a whole state here of lakes, waterfalls, wildlife, etc. Although I did get my feathers ruffled when you said that the people up north of me refer to Lake George as the Queen of Lakes! Every one has their favorite, but I live in the Finger Lakes region and am a fan of where I live as well! Thanks for sharing your trip. :)

      I got such a kick out of your comment, Debbie! :) We live in the Finger Lakes region as well. My husband is from here. After moving here 11 years ago, I've told everyone I know that New York is way more than NYC. It is truly one of the most beautiful states I've ever seen.

      It seems you enjoyed the boat rides you took. If you have the time i would recommend the 5 hr lake tour offered on The Mohican. It travels the full length of the lake to Baldwin Station where the LG Steamboat co launches and pulls the ships for maintenance. If you pick a nice day (I would recommend early fall or late summer when the crowds are smaller) the ride through the narrows is spectacular. You pass by the Sagamore hotel in Bolton as well as most of the mansions on the lake. I like to sit on the upper deck and listen to the hum of the diesel and dream away 🙂.
      Around the village take a ride up to Top of the World golf resort for some of the best vistas available looking north up the lake and southeast towards Vermont. It’s not a tourist place and rarely mentioned. It’s about 3 miles north on rt 9n which runs on the east shore. Look for the signs it’s a sharp right up the hill. When you return to the bottom go right and continue along the lake past the bays you view from the top. It breaks away from the lake at Pilot Knob road the last road on the east shore. The ride back to LG is just as nice 😏.
      There’s a ton of little free things to do to enjoy the incredible beauty of the lake. Have fun!

    Heading up in a couple weeks and was hoping to see something I haven't done yet but still nice to see. We'll hit the fireworks on Thursday night and the concert at Shepard Park on Friday, probably do some mini golf and of course relax in the lake where we're staying downtown. Though the area is not like it used to be not that long ago as it's been built up and the village is missing some character it used to have, we'll still walk around and get an ice cream or two. If you're ever looking for something to do in November, go see the light up the village event, pretty cool.

      I am so glad you still enjoyed seeing our video, Big T. :) Sounds like you are going to have a great time in Lake George! I've only been twice, with the first time in 2020. I would have loved to have seen it before it was built up. What is your favorite thing to do there? Thanks for the heads up about the event in November! Hopefully we will get to check that out one day! And thank you for taking the time to leave a great comment! (I am so sorry it has taken a bit to respond. We just returned from a one-week cruise onboard Oasis of The Seas, and we don't purchase internet packages while we are cruising.) ~Melinda

      @@Gate24Travel We usually spend a good time at the beach where we stay. Used to go to Golden Sands Resort up 9N a few miles north of the village but have been staying downtown more lately to also make it easier to walk downtown. Mini golf is something my wife and I try to do, a mini championship over the several days, simple fun.

    Love it up there. Haven’t been up there in about 2 yrs, but my bf and I would go every year, twice a year in the spring and fall for long weekends. Pretty much did everything you posted.. It’s beautiful up there… We spent Labor Day of 2020, up in Lake Placid and stayed at The Golden Arrow on Mirror Lake.. that was beautiful too

      Awww! I sure appreciate your sharing those memories with us. :) We have only been twice. We discovered the area in 2020. Usually we go on cruises for vacation, but because of the "nature of 2020" and all that was going on, we stayed in New York state, and I'm so glad we did! We didn't get to go last year though, but I'm soooo hoping we get to go this year. Words can't describe how beautiful it is. We will be visiting for the first time in a few weeks. Are the steam boat docks with the walking path on Canada Street? Great video😀👍

    • @Gate24Travel
      @Gate24Travel  Год назад +1

      Oh how exciting! :) You can absolutely take the walking path at the edge of the lake all the way from one steamboat company to the other. However, their access is on different streets. The Shoreline Cruises dock can be accessed from Canada Street. There is a nice walking path beside Shepard Park that you can follow to the walkway from Canada Street. After following the path down , just turn to the right at the walkway. The Lake George Steamboat Company dock can be accessed from Beach Road. There is parking right across the street from the dock (for a small fee that is much cheaper than metered parking). We generally park in that public parking lot for our day in Lake George. I sure hope you have fun! Thanks for watching our video and asking a great question in your comment! (Melinda)

    Putt putt golf by the steamboat dock. George's steak house is a good place to eat. If you're in shape take a hike on Black Mountain. Or take a ride up the lake to Ticondaroga. Go to Bolton Landing and have lunch a The Sagamore and a cool drink in their Adirondack chairs over looking the lake.Or stop in Hague and have a picnic in the town park.
