Thank you for sharing this I have now repaired my dcv584l following your great advice. It started playing up on a job today and then stoped completely. I thought the worst and assumed It had died. But no, it seems as good as new - hooray 🙌!
Also - if any one needs to replace the hose - as I had to recently as the original had rusted to bits from wet use. I found that a pretty much standard extendable hose would fit the connections just fine- less than half the price of the Dewalt replacement. 🇬🇧👍🏻

Any link to where I can source a new hose from? Mine has duck tape on it at the moment.

Thank you for this vid bro. I was about to purchase a new replacement switch and you just saved me $20 on a switch. Weird that Dewalt did not even changed the switch type. I thought it was just me having issues with this vacuum, turns out we are a community of it already. 😂😂

Yep!! You save me....today i was cleaning up my DeWALT with my air compressor...Then it's stop working....opening up the thing...then i check the motor connect directly on 120V....it was working fine...so the issue was the switch.....it was full of debris and sawdust because i'm using it in my small single garage woodshop ...So i clean up the thing...and you know what...it's working like new...Thanks for the tips !! So many peoples buying DeWALT tools...??.The switch should be more protect from sawdust and debris...DeWALT should take notes !! #DeWALT

@@danielvachon both times I’ve repaired this dewalt switch, it’s been full of dust, to the point the contacts become ineffective.
      Glad this helped!

Turns out this also works for the 4 Gallon DXV04T vac. Thanks for taking the time to make this video! I would have been clueless on how to fix this myself.

I just had my stealth-sonic dewalt vacuum have the same issue, took it apart and reassembled and it’s working again, but this time a ton of dust made its way into the switch housing that I had to clean out….what is with these dewalt switches!?

Also worked for the DCV 517 switch. On mine the contacts had fused on one side, and it wouldn't shut off. I cleaned the contacts, applied silicon lube to the rocker arm contact points, and reversed the contacts -- putting the contact that hadn't fused on the side that had fused before. Works like a champ, now. Not sure how long the fix will last or why it fused. I have a 60 V battery that is supposed to auto switch to 20 V. I suspect using that was what caused it to fuse. Amazing, a switch that you can take apart. How old school but perfectly practical.

Just fixed mines thanks for making this video bro 🙏 exact same issues those little prongs came out and the housing that holds them wasn't stay in tight so I wrapped the whole thing in electrical tape so the clips on the switch squeeze better holding them together tight to prevent it falling out again

Thank you very much. It would be good to show how you opened up the top.

It would. After I removed the few screws to open it up the thought crossed my mind to make a video. Pretty simple though. Just remove the screws you can see from the outside until its loose enough to open it up. 👍

Thanks for the video. I have the smaller version dewalt vac, a DCV517, that just wouldn't start one day. Looks like the same rocker switch, so I'll try your fix. If it's not that, do you have another suggestion?

Check terminal connections throughout and continuity on all components 👍. If it doesn’t start up after fixing the switch, check continuity on the switch with it in the on position, just to make sure it’s still not a faulty switch

Mine melted a component off the tiny board. The fuse was soldered on the bsck of the board and was intact and didn't do its job. Not having and external fuse or thermal circuit breaker is just cheap and z bad business model for DeWalt over these vacuums. I'm going to try resoldering it, but may have to replace the board. I'll wire in a fuse holder that can take fuses from the outside or I'll grab a circuit breaker at the salvage yard. The switch also popped apart like you showed because some engineer is worse at electronics and mechanical longevity than I am as a simple truck driver. Waste of college money if they ain't gonna make the world better than it was.
