5:55 I think this part of execution is worth mentioning. They used both skye and reyna flash together, making enemies overwhelmed and not break the reyna flash
I have been a fan of PRX since last year. Poeple who don't know whats going in PRX match might not pay attention to every utilities. PRX tend to use combos and layers of utilities and combining it with fast paced gameplay. If it works it looks like a stomped, if its fail they looks like they trolling 😂. But thats why I love PRX.
True! i hate that these morons continue to nerf viper which need a whole lot of brain to have any value walls, lineups, one way, rat ults and on the other side reyna noobs just run and gun , flash and kill.
Probably should have focused on how the smoke power creep changed the meta. Having multiple agents that can cut off large parts of the site is what changed. Using smokes to break up a site, force players to move, and pushing through them with flashes is all standard play. Watch a CSGO game from a decade ago and you'll see all of this. Only thing you talked about that was interesting is using ults to go on the offensive while on the defender side.
Every SEA teams you see on pro scene is unpredictable, they always go with the flow. PRX is just that flexible to the point where they can exploit every possibility that comes their way.
paper rex are easily next level valorant they are soo good at the game, insanely fun to watch, they are already beyond all of the other teams! no matter they win or lose they are the main event!!
these guys are insane they literally unlocked Valorant premium because myself and other teams/players are defiantly not using these harbour walls they’ve created , these new variation of walls are defianitely becoming a new meta and I can’t wait to see what other walls some teams find😂
hey brotherman, just wanted you to know that defiantly is a completely different word from definitely, best way to remember is to type out "DEFINITE" and then just ly at the end. Good luck out there!
This was a great video. Can you dedicate another video to utilizing smokes in less common ways? (smoking early for map control, smoking in the middle of the open for your team to work around, lurk smokes) I personally think that smoke players feel typically locked in to doing one setup every time that might not always be the best, especially on attack.
It’s clear paperX is pushing to innovate with more on the fly protocols and tactics. This reminds me of VirtusPro execs and Astralis style gameplay. Or before my time Korean 1.6 execs. Also the reason these teams respects smokes so much is because there hasn’t been enough innovative smoke pushes yet. Biggest issue with disrespecting smokes is the punish. We will see if this is sustainable in time.
in modern chess, at elite level, Opening theory is quite "resolved", so the new chess era is about know some strage line that is not the most eficcient, but the one that your rival doesn´t know
It seems to me even though they are playing on the old patch, it FEELS like they're playing on the LATEST one with the way they section off fights with util.
Really awesome matchup to watch. The methodical, classical style of play DRX follows versus the crazy, fast-paced and unpredicable style of play that PRX follows.
This is a great video! As a bronze stuck, I've always wondered why teams never take sites in small pieces, and when they do they just dry peak the rest of the site or waste 20secs without planting etc
Too many people get comfortable with the "correct" way to play a game and simply assume that if they do the thing theyre "supposed" to do, everyone else will too. It quickly falls apart when someone doesnt do what theyre supposed to do. If you stop watching the smoke because "no one would push through this smoke", you remove the reason why its bad to push through the smoke and make it not such a bad reason.
Paper Rex team is like playing competiteve while otoher team play pro plaay basicly they just dont overthink stuff and just do simple but effective stuff and win , combine their utility
2:22 "In DRX's game, smokes stop enemy player from going through. But in PRX's, smokes don't exist." That reminds me of Stewie2K's early pro career era back in CSGO, always plays aggressive and try to push smokes when every player but him still have this mindset of 'if smokes are thrown, there's a probability that enemies are holding the angle on the other side' and most of the time rather to avoid it and play safe.
the problem with using this strat in regular MM is that nobody expects their util to work in any rank. You can't just push smokes and catch people off guard. Its fun when it does work but its very rare
PRX is reminding me of Stewie2k. Before him smokes were walls in CSGO, people did not expect anyone to go through them unless absolutely necessary, then came this guy who will go straight through them as if they weren't a deterrent but a suggestion
this gameplay reminds me of low gold plays… pushing through one ways and shit like that. Funny to see how effective it is, as it basically forces the other team to think in a completely new mindset
I'm not a fan of valorant, im more CSGO but I love this playstyle for every game I play. Being aggressive and unpredictable will almost always give you an advantage at least once, it adds a level of mind games that most opponents struggle to deal with properly and if you have good movement or aim then you can get into places that nobody would think of, and that goes for league, cs, or hunt. I'm glad to see valorant has a team doing something like this and keeps it interesting
Nice to see that no one will be able to say "noooo u need to play smart with util" what I've noticed is that val people dont expect a chamge on pace is always either slow or fast and when it happens u are caught pants down.
Genuinely PaperX turned VALORANT into a moba, which makes sense and is insanely more fun to watch. There's an element of planning, but also a lot of on the fly decision making around the until economy, no decision they make is on paper "perfect" but you can see the cogs turning as every piece of util has it's own little mini objective. Putting a Reyna eye to get through a head glitch orb, using harbor wall to force a destructive gunfight and make them give up position, harbor wall to block out fights, it all feels more like Smite or League to me than valorant. Like Harbor is the support, putting down some CC for the team to isolate targets and peel for his team, reynas the adc, providing the most damage, ect.
Great Video. Even with something out, they still were able to beat DRX handedly. To me, it seems like this type of playstyle works really well to win those 50/50 rounds that so often decide games. This video and their recent performances lowkey making me a PRX fan now
this is what i am saying to my team evry time : smoke are nothing, we can just flash and run site but i just got bait evry single time because my team stay main as i entry alone

It feels like to me that DRX are concerned with grand strategy, while PRX are concerned with plug-and-play micro plays to give them bite sized advantages in the round.
I think people are misunderstanding CS's methodical method in valorant. CS is methodical because everyone has a smoke so by the time entries/retakes happen, we still have utility to be reactive/responsive/creative. It doesn't work the same in valorant with only 1 or 2 smoke agents and it still shocks me to learn that some people haven't figured that out yet when they complain about "why didn't you use all your smokes" or when you do a slightly different smoke setup
Kinda reminds me of old counter strike days when stewie2k used to always push a smoke and sometimes pop flash out the smoke. You just don't expect it sometimes. He used to be called the smoke criminal or something like that with videos showing streamers getting mad at him for pushing smokes.
Smth's playstile is something like agression that you see in ranked games. I was always interested what happens if you coordiante competitive playstile into pro scene
another thing to mention ,this reminds me of the early says of sentinels, they use to be so creative and did things out of the books ,but as soon as the patch changed, they fell apart, they lost all creativity, tries to play by the book like everyone and fell, their 2021 season ,2022 and 2023 are just so bad,im sad to see this, but im glad other team are trying to break this notion of "meta" and you have to play like everyone else to win,its innovative, fun and give a new way to look at how one of the "worst agent" can be used in valorant, reyna hasnt been used pro play as much as she use to be in the early days of valorant ,because the so called meta, and its really nice to see,an agent can be broken ,its protential is only limited by the users imagination, their combo with the skye flash a great way to make good use of her eyes!
Although valorant FEELS slower, the utility counters this and makes this game somewhat fast paste. The valorant meta has a long way to go and although going slow and map control is the most save way to play it can also be the worst if you find yourself not able to get picks. What for me really inportant is valorant is that you need to be in sync with your team mates and their abilities. + you need to addapt and change. Paper Rex surprised play worked as well as it catches their opponents off guard yet Valorant should be played by adapting to both enemies and your teams strategies and that is the real way to play Valorant cos as the Agent pull gets bigger more combinations of skills will result in different plays and strategies and it will be harder to predict how plays will pan out.
you forgot the reyna skye combo, either defenders break reyna eye and get flashed by the skye bird or they dodge the skye bird turn around and are flashed by the reyna eye
